The service was lousy. Waitress asked what I wanted to drink then I had to repeat myself after she took the orders. The lobster bisque soup was cold. My husband asked for water 3 times which was never brought to the table. We had to ask for silverware and plates with our appetizer. Then when you he food arrived my husband who ordered shrimp and oyster platter got shrimp and fish with a heaping of fries. He had to request two times for a beer refill. The waitress kept calling me Missy when I was the same age or slightly younger than her. She focused all her energy on the guys a t the bar. Not going there again.

My wife and I went there for the first time last night. Server(Victoria) was very good and the food was great. The oysters on the half shell were very good. My wife had the Mahi fish tacos and said they were delicious. I had the steamed shrimp/wing combo. The old bay on the shrimp was fantastic. The wings were whole wings and very tasty. We will definitely be back again.

So glad this is open! Awesome service, everyone is always very welcoming and friendly. Wait staff and bar staff make you feel as though you’re a regular. The food is very fresh and delicious, and you can tell that the owners truly care about the experience you have. Will definitely be back! Get the oysters!

Went to Shuckin Shack not knowing what to expect, this place is HANDSDOWN the new place to go for great drink specials and even better food. Started at the bar with Jen, who was awesome, then finished at a table with Victoria who was one of the best servers I’ve ever had. Very enjoyable experience and glad to see the new owners have taken the old Griff’s and turned it into somewhere I want to actually go!

Really wanted to like this place but had a not so great experience. Had to wait for drinks and service at bar. Then, the food wasn’t that good. Oysters were okay. Wings were not good. Too much batter and greasy. The crab legs were mushy.

I took my neighbor’s wife out on a date night to the Shack. Great food! We started with the calamari and wings. Calamari was excellent! Their beer selection was also very good. A mix of the standards as well as some tasty seasonal stuff. The raw oysters were next — so fresh! Steamed mussels were prepared great without tasting rubbery or gritty. Crab cake sandwich was fantastic too!

Really want to like this place more. The theme is great and seems like a nice, low-key atmosphere. Two of us went in around 3pm on a Saturday, the restaurant was about half full. Waited to be seated as there was no signage either way but, after a couple of minutes, were told it is seat yourself. No problem there. We sat between patrons that had been there for a while(by all appearances) and waited for the waitress to stop by our table. And waited. Aaand waited. Four passes, no acknowledgement. Eight, still nothing at all. After a dozen passes without even a «hey, be with ya shortly», we waited one more round then left. This is not Southern or beach hospitality, this is simply discourtesy. We will try one more time here soon as it is not fair to base satisfaction off of one experience. Hopefully we can review the food next time.

My husband I stopped in for a late lunch last weekend. We started with the shark bite oysters, which were really quite good. My husband enjoyed his beer. I got the mahi tacos and was disappointed in the amount of fish for the price. Also, I expected larger pieces of grilled mahi instead of the small(diced?) portion. Otherwise, the tacos were tasty, but nothing special. Our daughter’s chicken fingers were pretty standard, a nice sized portion. My husband’s lobster roll was a complete disappointment, however. He said that the lobster tasted like it had just been defrosted. It was so water-logged, it made the roll too soggy to pick up without falling apart. We had hoped to find a casual seafood place for lunch, and had the lobster roll been a success, we probably would have become regulars.(My husband is serious about lobster rolls!) The service was very friendly, so maybe if we just want oysters we’ll be back.

Frederick needed a place like this. Being from New England there aren’t a lot of options in the area for good quality oysters, clams, mussels. Food was outstanding. Staff very knowledgeable, friendly and enthusiastic. A must is the Pleasure Island Cocktail. Eric the manager and Holly the bartender were very friendly and accommodating and made us feel like VIP guests even though it was our first time. Woo Hoo!

Stopped in for the first time today. Staff was welcoming and really appreciated feedback. The place looks great and the food was really good. The oysters were fresh and the crab cake sliders were tasty(not the best I’ve ever had, but good).

So far, very underwhelming bordering on infuriating. We arrived at 1:30 and the place was moderately full but only had a single server working the tables and bar. We met some family at the restaurant who had previously placed an appetizer order. We waited 10 minutes before she made it over for a drink order. It’s now been 45 minutes and the first round of appetizers just arrived? She admitted she forgot to put the order in and apologized, but«Jen» was clearly overwhelmed and under assisted. There were 8 of us so she took our food order and we proceeded to watch her make her way to two other tables and take orders before she put our large food order in. While she did apologize, it is clear she is likely new at her job and is still used to moving at half speed. This place could benefit from some professional assistance. I’ll update when food arrives, but based on the service, life is too short to wait for the epic time it takes to get food. — 2:22PM, just watched a family of 4 get their entrees after they arrived before us at 1:30?! End result, food came, fries with a two orders were cold, fish in fish and chips was too salty, some of the steamed shrimp were mushy, steamed crab legs were completely forgotten until we reminded the waitstaff on three occasions, the food came out in fits and spurts, etc., etc. The crab legs apparently were late because«the steamer was down», yet we had steamed shrimp on the table which were served earlier in our«meal». Eventually a younger guy came out and apologized profusely for the service, advising they were«not ready» for this. Kids are home from college and off school, temps are in the 50’s, people have taken vacation days-not sure how a restaurant in old town Frederick would not anticipate some level of increased traffic. The guy took $ 60 off a $ 200 bill to compensate for the service. While that was appreciated, it does not make up for the shotgun quality of the food. I gave it two stars for the earnest apology from the younger manager guy, otherwise, I would have given it a star. Our mistake was accepting the invitation from some family to meet at a chain restaurant instead of talking them out of it and going to one of the more established independent places in town that have built reputations on high quality and good service. I’m glad I went as it removed any doubt about whether I will ever set foot in the place again.

Love this bar! Much needed in Frederick! They have only been open barely 2 weeks and we have been twice. Of course in any new restaurant they have things they need to tighten up on but thats to be expected. For the most part our food has been great! Stuff is very friendly! We’ll be back lots more times!

Caters to owner’s Coors Light-drinking college friends. All but ignores locals coming in prepared to spend serious money as repeat customers(eating & drinking the good stuff). Price points are high for small serving sizes, mediocre food and completely unprofessional approach to service. Disappointing because an oyster bar downtown seemed like a good idea. But lots of better, high quality options in the area that treat customers right.

Terrible service, disappointing food. Took a while to get our drinks which happens. All four meals were incorrect and missing items. No silverware. Waitress brought replacement meals and they were still incorrect. Some of the shrimp were deveined and some were not which is unacceptable in a seafood restaurant. We had to clear our own dishes into the bucket in the center of the table. We were overcharged for happy hour drinks and charged for items we didn’t order. The manager finally fixed the bill but it was too late. I’ll never be back. Too many great restaurants in town with good service.

It’s the kind of seafood place that serves lots of fried things(battered fish, crab cakes, etc.), along with tartar sauce, corn on the cob, cole slaw, hush puppies, French fries, etc. So, expect a casual dining experience – not haute cuisine. I was quite happy with my fried cod sandwich and French fries. I’ll be back to sample their other offerings.

Super excited that this just opened in Frederick! It’s my favorite place in Carolina Beach, NC! My favorite things to eat there are the steamed Old Bay Shrimp & the crab legs! Love the atmosphere too! This will be a new hot spot!!! Check it out!
