Roomy restaurant with innovative, delish rolls and good service! Decided to drop in for lunch after years of passing by. I’m more of a sashimi guy, but saw the description of some of their rolls and was intrigued… Definitely glad I tried them out! Here were just a few of a couple of dishes I can’t wait to come back for: Octopus and calamari roll — a roll with a pyramid of small bits of octopus and calamari. Excellent dish that was everything I expected more! Sauteed mussels — decided to try this dish, since baked mussels are always a good appetizer. Great flavor without being lost in creamy mayo sauce like its baked cousin. No name roll — my buddy claimed to invent this roll. Guess he gave the chef 3 fishes he wanted in a roll and asked for no frills(crab meat, tempura, etc). This roll was just that, just a mouth full of fish! Clean restaurant with plenty of seating, light and bright interior. The young waitress was sweet and attentive! Definitely enjoyed my meal and still wondering why I didn’t give this place a whirl earlier!

I think we’ll always love momos regardless of the mishaps that always happen here. Unless you have the manager, service is a bit shotty. Servers are always very sweet but it’s not always enough. Today at lunch the same girl spilled hot tea on someone and then ponzu sauce on me. Of course it was an accident but still unfortunate. The food is allllways delicious. The cold noodle appetizer is a great stater. The chirashi is fresh and looks beautiful. The tiger shrimp lettuce roll is crisp, light and ever so tasty. My all time fav, the calamari all roll, is always crispy and has great flavor.

Sorry Momo. Ive been eating at your restaurant for two decades from the old location to the new location. I can put up with slow service once in a while and I can put up with loud crappy music played over a horrible sound system as well as The occasional unfriendly server behind the counter. One thing I will not put up with is a tiger shrimp lettuce hand roll where the shrimp has a dirty poop tract. CLEANYOURSHRIMP.

Love this place! I have been here 15 – 20 times and only once was I dissatisfied with the fish here, so not a bad record. Most of my friends that I take here always ask to come back. My girlfriend only gets the teriyaki chicken bowl, she loved it the first time, wasn’t so impressed the second time, so it may be hit and miss with the fowl… Overall, the chefs are fast enough for creating tasty art and aren’t rude.

Don’t waste your time. I’ve been here a few times with 2 – 3 coworkers(I work in a private office across the street) and we’ve always have had bad service. The sushi is a lot of fusion rolls, for example, the spicy tuna is chunks of fish mixed with mayo and sriracha on top. Yesterday(4⁄21) I went there at 1:30p because 2 other sushi places nearby were closed. There wasn’t too many people seated, but there was only one waitress. I was patient and waited– about 10 – 15 minutes. When she finally came to the podium, I didn’t get a hello or welcome, she just snapped«We’re closed. Didn’t you read the sign?» There was no sign present. I will not be returning to this location. If you’re looking for a good sushi place in Fullerton, go to Kaori on Harbor and Chapman.

Not a bad place we just walked in to. Spicy tuna rolls are huge so beware. Calamari was tasty and cooked perfect.

Momo’s is great. You must try the tiger shrimp lettuce roll! The prices are average for good sushi. Definitely a thousand times better than Chomp. If you are in Fullerton this is the only good sushi bar.

Came in here late on a Monday night and sat at the sushi bar, the owner happened to be on the sushi line that night and was very helpful and sociable… We even learned that his mom made all the cool fish sculptures that are on the wall… VERYCOOL!!! I’m not very adventurous when it comes to sushi, so my girlfriend ordered and everything was fantastic! We just moved in to the area and i know well be back soon.

Unilocal challenge 2016. 18⁄116 Local sushi in Downtown Fullerton off Harbor and Amerige area. We already know parking in the area is a complete Pain in the Banana Booty. I am not a sushi eater, but the hubsters is. We were angry at another local sushi joint and just started walking to find something to fill our bellies. We were greeted immediately and seated at the very large sushi bar. Most bars are half the width of the one here. Plenty of room to spread out our food. Server was attentive and did not skip out on any requests. Sushi Chef was friendly and made sure we were completely satisfied. I had the chicken katsu by itself paired with a tiny cabbage salad. The chicken cutlet was thick and juicy fried in a light batter. A nice tangy katsu sauce accompanied the dish. I am not a rice eater, so I did not miss it being obsolete from my meal. Other menu items include chicken and steak bowls, Chicken Curry, katsu plates, Ramen, Udon, salads, ect. Plenty of choices from appetizers to main courses. Sushi was a hit. Hubster said the fish was fresh. It is not AYCE, so the price tag can add up quickly if your not careful. We are fans. #834

I been going to Momo’s since the days when they were a little hole in the wall restaurant behind St. Jude’s MC, food still great and service has always been great, I miss Taka at the sushi bar though

I have been coming to this place over 20 years and I never get tired! Their albacore boat, spicy tuna and yellowtail rolls are a must! Their Aho Ajo is amazing! Suzuki and Rutilio are great!

We came here for dinner one random night. It wasn’t too busy so we were seated right away. I ordered just about everything off their menu. There was not special going, but from what I can remember I ordered the udon, edamames and also a lot of different rolls. We as a group ended up ordering way too much food! I guess it was hard to decipher the portions of food they were going to give you. But from what I could recall the food was decent. They were able to make some vegetarian items for my wife and the place was pretty laid back. I would come back again to try out something new.

— Locale Destination — It’s on N Harbor blvd and E Amerige Ave in downtown Fullerton. In the middle of downtown Fullerton. Great location. Right next to «Burger Parlor»(very so so yet pricy burger). Ambiance: Cheesy, kinda eclectic looking, very casual. Who cares? Big sushi bar and seating. Lunch gets packed. Nice outside seating. Clientele: Mostly non Asians, but we should see more Japanese here. Flavors are quite Japanese. The owner is Japanese. Service: Why do people complain about it so much? If you don’t wanna wait, why don’t you go to McDonald’s? You would wait there probably longer while lunch time by high school kids. The staff are friendly and thoughtful. Fish quality: Good for the price. I think you get more for the $. You’d pay more for the same quality elsewhere. Portion: Big and filling. Menu: Sushi, appetizers and some food like a curry etc. Something for everyone. Parking: free parking right behind the restaurant. — Gluttony Expedition — Chirashi: All kinda fish goodness — the widest varieties I’ve ever had! Tuna, salmon, albacore, unagi, shrimp, egg, spicy tuna etc. The portion was so big! Love it! $ 12 for lunch is a great deal! $ 20 for dinner. Seaweed salad: Very light and vinegary, typical Japanese flavor. Good! Sushi lunch: Good varieties with good price. 6 pieces of sushi and California roll. The fish quality is good — especially for the price. Spanish mackerel sashimi: very fresh and good! Fish bone chips: only good one serves this as a part of special treatment. They deep fried the fish bone included the head. Nice and crispy. Yum! Cheesecake sundae: It was special by Jeff. Cheesecake tempra was accompanied by vanilla ice cream, fruits, and whipped cream. The tempra was fluffy and yummy inside, crunchy outside. Good. — Conqueror’s Deduction — People who complained about the fish quality here don’t know sushi. They probably go to crappier«cut roll» places and appreciate the lesser quality fish with higher price tag not knowing what«good quality» is. Fish here is quite enjoyable — very unexpectedly. I’m not talking about the«awesome melting in the mouth» quality you can get at more proper, authentic sushi bar like«Nana San»(NB), «Sushi Zo»(LA), and Hirose(Torrance) etc. This isn’t that type of sushi bar. But I’m willing to come here over all the sushi places in DTF, though Fullerton or nearby areas aren’t the destination for great sushi. Something you don’t see from the cheesy-looking sushi bar like this. I think the looks prevent Japanese from coming here — It doesn’t look like«good sushi» at all. I was quite surprised at this hidden gem. My dear Japanese friend who’s a regular here took me here. What a pleasant surprise! Just ignore all the bad reviews. You’ll enjoy here without breaking your wallet. This is as good as «Kaori»(sushi bar run by Korean) nearby with cheaper price tag — it puts here the best value sushi in DTF. This is a lot more«Japanese» sushi than others here. Other non Japanese sushi places around here charge a lot more for the lesser quality than here. I like here. This place is really a hidden gem. Well, it’s not hidden since the location is awesome. However, this place should be more popular. One of the better food choices in DTF for sure. It means a lot since most restaurants here in DTF suck.

Not a fun place because service is sub par because empty dishes are not removed and need to ask for water when half of place is empty. The dishes are decent. Chirashi bowl offers variety of fishs however the tuna is not fresh. Yellowtail collar is very well bake and not dry but five more Minnie’s in oven would make it better. The daily special is not as large as other place offer. Teriyaki chicken is nicely grill with onion on the bottom. Tempura shrimp roll is not crunchy. Reviewing my own review. I downgrading stars from three to two because there are to many not positive comments in this review.

Ryan C and I worked up a bit of an appetite at a yoga class prior to our recent Tuesday night dinner at Fun Sushi Momo. We were happy to walk in and be promptly seated,(once we found the entrance in the rear), but the service went a bit downhill from there. We ordered what felt like a ton of food and asked the waitress if that would be enough, she nodded but didn’t say much. Turns out, it was more than enough food — we couldn’t even find room in our bellies to finish it all. A few standout items: –the daily sashimi platter — fresh with a nice assortment of fish; also a good value for $ 20 –baked scallop roll(we actually ordered spicy scallop handrolls but somehow received two of these instead); they were heavy but packed with flavor and textures including some crunch The worst thing we had was the butterfish roll. It was overcooked and dry. The waitress forgot to bring my tea and didn’t apologize for that or her mixup on the scallop roll. Even so, the company was great(thanks Ryan!); and the sushi here is much better than anything I can get at home in AZ! Moderate prices too. I wouldn’t rush back, but if you’re in the area and wanting some decent no frills sushi in a casual atmosphere, you can likely find it at Fun Sushi Momo.

I can’t believe I have been coming here for over 15 years and I have never put a review up on Unilocal!Oops. Sorry Suzuki and Richard! Anyway let me say that this is the best sushi restaurant period. I have been coming here since they were over by St. Jude and then when I met my husband, we both came here from that point forward. We have been to many many many sushi restaurants and none compare to Momo. The freshest of fish, a variety of rolls and dishes and great sushi chefs! Hubby and I prefer Ahi Tuna, so anything with tuna we love. Especially the Tuna Salad(not what you are thinking), Tuna Sashimi and Tuna Paradise! All are highly recommended. And now they have some amazing desserts too, like fried cheesecake! Holy cow it’s sooooooo good. Save room for it. It is deep fried with tempura batter so each piece is lightly coated and scrumptious! The pieces are small, like an inch square, so it’s easy to eat! We usually eat at the bar; dinner and a show my husband always says. Anyway this restaurant is the best. Yes their prices have increased and their portions have decreased but that does not diminish the quality of the food!
