Love this place! Friendly service, awesome food. Both wife and I absolutely love coming here on our date nights.

This is probably one of our favorite restaurants. The food is great! The only thing that I find strange is that they charge $ 3 for fried rice. Took my boys for lunch today they really enjoyed themselves.

We had the Mexican roll, sweet & spicy wings, mango tango, lobster roll and a couple other things. Everything was good. Would definitely come back. Check in with Unilocal and get two free shots of flavored soju! I had to substitute real crab because of my gluten allergy, and they did that without a problem. Will try the tepanyaki next time!

Never been to this particular sushi spot but I heard good things so it was a must have. Went on a Sunday and there weren’t many people so the service was exquisite. Everything was good. Chrunch roll was extra crunchy and and the shrimp tempura was extra tempurary. My two favorite things were the ambience. A+ music and the soda. Pepsi extra crisp. Made my throat itch and my eyes water. They even gave me a to go cup. Love samurai!

This review is for the teppanyaki grill. Our grill guy(who jokingly called himself«Ben Nihana») was funny, and did the whole Teppanyaki song and dance without being annoying or «over the top». The food was good. I ordered the lunch combo Filet Mignon/shrimp while my hubby ordered only the Filet Mignon”. They served great portions in my opinion. 4 solid stars because the food tasted great and grill guy rocked… TO boot if you check in on Unilocal you get 2 free shots of flavored soju(see pic). Because I am a total lightweight, these free«drinks» got me totally buzzed! We will be back again! Ps I do think it would help if the servers weren’t in charge of all the stations(sushi bar/teppanyaki grill/restaurant side). It seemed like they were all overwhelmed.

Been coming here for years and the establishment has really gone down the drain. Service here is Terrible now and the workers are really slow. We had an appointment but we’re not allowed to order until another party came for teppenyaki so we ordered a roll to wait, but then the roll came after the second party came and sat down almost 30 mins for a roll.

This review is long overdue. Came here quite a few time already… mostly for lunch since it’s nearby my workplace. My co-workers like coming here… for the decent food, reasonable price and location. Obviously this is not your fancy ritzy Japanese restaurant, however, I find their lunch menu decent and tasteful. This place is clean. The staffs are friendly. Sometime a bit slow when you have a larger group, but, you just have to wave them down to get the extra attention. We’re not too keen on the salad. They put way too much dressing so it’s all soggy. Yuck. The miso soup is a-ok. I’ve had it a few times and what… only 1 teeny weeny tofu and 1 seaweed? Plus, it’s lukewarm. I like my soup hot. The Dream Roll is one of my favorites. It’s baked salmon & scallop on a CA roll with the ponzu sauce. Ponzu sauce is not too salty. The Popcorn Lobster roll isn’t too bad either. Crispy flavor and wasn’t too oily. The Baked Salmon Roll isn’t too bad either. A win in my book because I love salmon. They add the eel sauce to this roll. Yum. The Veggie Ramen is a win for me as well. Not THEBEST that I’ve had, however, it’s good enough for me when it’s chilly outside and I have the ramen craving. Not too salty. However, I do wish they would add an egg to the dish and MORE veggies please. The Tofu Salad is a-ok. Didn’t really have the wow factor. Plus wayyyy too many large tofus. The Teppan experience is pretty decent. We’ve done this 2x for staff’s work anniversary celebration. Our chef was pretty entertaining and has a good sense of humor. You can order specifics from the Teppan menu, or, do a combo. Most of us did the combo to get the best out of what we’re paying. Overall, the Hibachi steak, chicken, shrimp and scallops were our favorites. Cooked well and yummy flavor. Comes with your choice of fried rice or regular rice(white or brown). We love the fried rice! With extra butter! ^_^ Various grilled veggie comes with your order. Give this place a try sometimes. Happy eating!

Samurai restaurant serving teppanyaki, full sushi menu and regular menu. Here you’ll find plenty of options to choose from. With three visits under my belt I can say that I’ve ordered from Samurai’s Teppanyaki, sushi and regular menu with my favorite ordering off their Teppanyaki menu. The teppanyaki menu offers a good selection of items to chose from including land and seafood combinations. During our teppanyaki experience, the chef was very personable and skilled. She ordered the shrimp and scallops and myself the lobster and new york. We both enjoyed our food and even better that it’s portion of the cost of other Teppan restaurants. The sushi menu is extensive and prices are whats to be expected, averaging $ 10 or plus a roll. The regular menu had 2 to 3 combinations to choose which options such as teriyaki chicken, spicy chicken, karage chicken, bulgogi, short ribs and basic rolls. The service has been consistently good with each visit. Overall, lots of dining options at a good price, definitely worth trying.

Third time trying this place. Came in without realizing it was happy hour. It was pretty slow. We were seated right away. I forgot our servers name but he seemed new but very sweet and genuine. He went out of his way to help us. Food was good. I had the shrimp on shrimp roll with a cucumber salad. My boyfriend ordered a lot of random sushi pieces. Because it was happy hour we spent only 30 $. Ive never had such a cheap sushi date! Will be coming more often for their happy hour!

This is my new favorite Japanese restaurant. I wouldn’t call myself an expert at Asian cuisine but I really love their soup, ginger dressing, tempura and teriyaki. It’s a pretty decent value too. My husband and I can share a meal no problem. A great local spot. We’re lining forward to trying their teppan grill menu next.

Was craving teppanyaki one night and ended up coming here on a whim. Benihana’s in Anaheim was busy so made reservations here and it actually ended up being very good. Friendly prices as well. The service was great and on point with refills, the food was delicious(I ordered the New York Steak & Shrimp) which came after a plate of fried rice. My favorite part of the meal was the fried rice and the actual main course, they were all good! The place is clean, the bathrooms are well maintained and also the plaza that this restaurant is located has a bunch of places to eat. One part I enjoyed about my experience here was the chef. They have a very good sense of humor and also have a few surprises during the course! Would definitely come back.

Food was terrible! Do NOT try their soup! It has no taste, very bland. Also had some sushi that was average. Service was horrible! Waiters were rude and took too long to bring out food. They also did not put out placemats for our table or any other-had to ask for some. I came in here hoping for some good food instead, the price was set too high for these dishes.

Better than benihanas Portions are huge, prices are cheaper especially for alcohol. And it’s so good!!! I don’t write reviews often but this place deserves it! Take your kids! They will love it. This little girl who came with her family just for sushi kept looking over at us, wishing her parents would have taken her for teppan instead. It’s much cheaper than beni(which I think is highly overrated) I’m bringing my family here tomorrow definitely

My review is strictly for the Teppanyaki. My BFF and her family took me here to celebrate my birthday on a Tuesday night. She didn’t make reservations, as she didn’t think they needed one midweek. Apparently, it is suggested if you do make one, as they only have 6 grills, and 2 of the grills accommodates 2 – 4 people. Check in on Unilocal and they’ll give you 2 free Soju shots! Located off Harbor and Orangethorpe, behind the Chick Fil A and next door to a UFC is this Korean owned Japanese style restaurant. It used to be a sushi only place, but they recently added a Teppan area, so they can do the Benihana style stuff. We arrived at 6:00 pm, and the Teppan area was empty. The menu is pretty basic: — Steak(filet or NY Strip), Chicken, Shrimp, and non meat options like fish and lobster — They have combination such as Steak/Chicken, Chicken /Beef, Steak/Shrimp, etc. — Entrees come with soup, white rice and shrimp appetizer(3 pcs). Add $ 3 if you want fried rice — Lunch prices are cheaper than dinner. They start you off right away with a miso soup, which came lukewarm. Then comes the salad, with a salty miso flavored dressing. Meh. The teppan chef comes out moments later to do his culinary«show». COMPAREDTOBENIHANA… Compared to Benihana, the teppan show is pretty much the same… the steaming volcano, the spinning egg, the flying rice, bad jokes etc. Like Benihana, the fried rice is $ 3 extra but Samurai provides a lot more rice than just a big bowl. Both places have excellent fried rice. Benihana, however, adds chicken to their fried rice, but the Samurai portions are much bigger. The NY steak I had was very good, and cooked the way I wanted it. Not overly salty or covered in soy sauce, like many places. The shrimp was a bit overcooked, and not cut into bite sizes, but that was ok. It tasted great, covered in lots of garlic butter and lemon. The vegetables were zucchini, onions, mushrooms and carrots. Later, they add bean spouts. They don’t give a lot of veggies, but you can pay extra for more. Overall a very decent meal but just ok service. My NY Steak /Shrimp combo was $ 28. They charged $ 2.50 for a small individual pot of hot tea, which I thought was pricy, and was never checked for refill. We had to ask for refills on the sodas, and also had to ask for take home boxes. No birthday song or ice cream, either(boo!) There were gifts on the table and they never acknowledged it. I’d come back here if I couldn’t get a table at Benihana’s.

I liked this restaurant a lot more before they remodeled and turned it into a teppanyaki grill. I liked the old menu and décor better. I wouldve given the old restaurant 5 stars. I used to love this place but my experiences lately are kind of… Eh. Their old menu seemed to have more variety, and more rolls. They used to have an amazing avocado and poke salad. The iced green tea tastes like plain water. For 2.50 :/ Its not a bad restaurant by any means but there are definitely better sushi places. If I had to suggest a roll I’d say the red moon roll is my favorite. Baked salmon, very yummy. Service is always good.

#100reviews2015 — review no. 2 This is, was, and will likely remain an a-ok experience — nothing more, nothing less. Service is hit or miss; sometimes it’s realllly good, and other times it’s been awful. But friends that I go with love the baked rolls here, and even though the tempura batter is a tad too sweet for me, it’s still not bad. They’ve added a hibachi experience here now, so you can get your live grill show on, and I noticed the menu now features teppanyaki. For those that love it, they also feature sweet shrimp and uni. I’m not so much a fan myself, but know many others that are. It’s a decent, convenient sushi place close to places I really do like a lot, like Costco and Laserquest, and the food is passably tasty. I recommend if you’re hangry and nearby :)
