I love the potsitickers and porkbuns! But everything I have had here has been very good and I think my partner and I consider this the best Chinese restaurant in Gilroy, if not the bay area. The service has always been fast and professional. The bathroom could stand a little attnetion to cleaning as I was a about to give them half star reduction for cold bathrooms and not as clean as I would like. I hope they read this and get someone on this, as it would be the best of the bay for me if that small detail was attended to, one more thing the forutne cookies are a generic brand, could improve here… but they are free.

I love stopping by Ginger café for a late lunch during their happy hour! My go-to dish is their tofu or chicken basil over steamed rice. I looove the perfectly-cooked chicken or tofu, basil, and several different kinds of sliced mushrooms in the velvety sauce. I especially love to mix in some of their hot pepper sauce on the side for a little kick. Their happy hour menu is really great– from alcoholic beverages to small plates and even entrees, everything is so reasonably-priced.

We come to this place about twice a years. The service are acceptable in general. This last time the food is way too salty, sweet and greasy. We usually order a bit less so that we don’t waste food. However it’s so salty and sweet that we couldn’t even finish them. After the meal, a have a after taste(pepper, garlic, etc) that did not clear up with hot water and brushing and it lasted many hours.

One of the few restaurants within the Gilroy outlet stores that is not a fast food place. I have been here a few times with family and its comfort Asian food. This is located by Home Depot. My hubby and I went here during a late lunch. We got tired from shopping and fighting the crowds. We were greeted friendly when we first arrived. We sat by the front by the bar. It was not crowded at that time. We ordered and received hot and sour soup as complimentary to our lunch meals. It was ok. I ordered the garlic spicy prawns. I was a happy girl as these were big prawns and de-shelled. It was garlicky and deep fried. It had a little spicy kick. I also ordered their drink called Kiss on the Lips. This was a frozen drink and pretty strong but lacked a lot of taste. My hubby ordered sweet & sour pork. I tried his and it was pretty good. When we came with family, I remembered the food was ok as well. Service is ok. Nothing special except for the garlic spicy prawns to me but I would still come back if I was craving Asian food.

Oh, yum. Ginger Café is a great Chinese food restaurant, with 24 hour dim sum. Shiu mai, char sui now, Har gow, and so many more delicious favorites. Not that far from Chinese food deprived Monterey County. They should open a branch in Monterey… please!

After countless takeout orders I’ve placed here, I have never had any problem with my order. The past two trips though have been a different story. Last weekend, I placed an order as I always do on the Eat24 app. When came to pick up the food, the staff member said something along the lines of «we didn’t place the order because you have to call to verify the order». I call bullsh**. That has never been an issue. What would be the point of ordering through the app if that was the case. It was just a sorry excuse for them screwing up and not putting in the order. So yesterday. I placed the order on the app. I call several minutes later to confirm the order was placed. They got the order down. Okay great. I go to pickup the food. Instead of not putting in the order this time, they messed up the order. We had two orders of Chow Fun, one of the employees apparently devoid of the proper brain cells to input the order put in Chow Mein. It wasn’t until the end of the 10 minutes I had to wait there, I received an apology. Usually tip generously on takeout but this time around, I didn’t tip them based on this debacle as well as the previous one. Frankly I found the staff has changed quite a bit over the past several months. This could be a result of that. On an unrelated note, Chinese places usually give a fortune cookie per entrée/item placed(at least in my experience). Not this place. I would recommend they make some changes in this area or I will take my business elsewhere and drop it from my rotation.
