Unfortunately I had to choose at least a star. Dr. Johnson started my daughter’s braces treatment in December of 2012. She estimated this treatment to take 18 months, and she told me my portion is about $ 3,800 while the insurance will pay $ 1,000. I have paid my portion in full around the end of 2013. As of August 2014, my daughter’s treatment was not done. Since we had moved in August of 2014, I was not able to take my daughter for her regular adjustments, and my daughter was not mentally ready to have her braces removed until now. I have recently made an appointment to have my daughter’s braces removed, when I was informed that there is a balance of $ 200+ that the insurance did not pay. I explained to them that it may have been when I changed employers at the beginning of 2015. I asked them how come they never contacted me for the new insurance. They said that they have hundreds of patients, can’t keep track of all insurance payments and it was my responsibility to tell them when I change my insurance(it was in the contract). I told them that I had no idea that after more than 24 months, the insurance would not be done paying their portion, and that I have never received any statements from them keeping me up to date with the insurance payments. I was told that I have to cover the outstanding amount, and once insurance would be done paying, in 10 – 12 months, they would reimburse me. Since the practice has so many patients and they can’t keep track of all of the outstanding payments, I knew that I may need to remind them in a year or so to reimburse me. Due to this reason and out of principle I refuse to pay the outstanding balance. The office manager was less than polite(when I asked her why they have not notified me she said that she could ask me the same thing, and when I asked her if they would have notified me if I owed money, she said that there is no sense to discuss«ifs» and«buts» situations) she called me again the second time to tell me that the doctor is backing her up and to consider our appointment cancelled, and then hung up. This reminds me a lot of the customer service I used to receive in Eastern Europe. Would not have thought that an Orthodontist with a practice in the Glen would treat a client this way.
