Ta sushi has been one of my favorite places for sushi on the coast. The ocean roll is the best roll I have EVER had. The sushi is always good and the service is always excellent. Unfortunately I am afraid their recent health department grades have ruined it for me(C’s on more than one inspection). Unless their reputation turns around, I doubt I’ll be returning to this place which makes me so sad!

This place was good initially, but I came home and had terrible stomach pains and have been confined to the restroom since. I also went with some friends that have been having the same symptoms. I probably won’t come back.

When: On a Wednesday night. Feb 06⁄2013 Pros: Wasn’t busy. Got seated quickly. Food came out incredibly fast, maybe because it wasn’t busy. Food is pretty good. Service is really good. Atmosphere is nice. Cons: Seating are pretty close to each other. Be prepare to have very little privacy on a packed day. Overall: Would I come back? Most likely. Definitely on a slow day.

Not bad but not that great. The sushi was OK but nothing extraordinary. There were also a few fruit flies around which I didn’t care for.

There are much better sushi spots in town but this one is ok. Prices are steep and parking is a bear. Have tried several of their roles and was never inspired to try again. But if you are working downtown and font want to drive, it is not bad for lunch.

Pros: Great Atmosphere especially if your planning to stay and have a few drinks in addition to your meal. Prices are very reasonable compared to other sushi places around. Salads, Rolls and Temaki(cone rolls) are GREAT and fill you up fast. Service is good and fairly quick They have SAPPORO on draft which is Amazing as well as serving KIRINLIGHT another beer that goes great with the food period! Cons: They sometimes run out of the above mentioned beers too often.

Can’t rate seafood because I’m allergic. But they did customize a veggie roll for me tempura style, so that’s why the 4-stars. Definitely a better ambiance than a lot of places downtown and other Japanese restaurants. gpt needs more of that.

Great place to eat dinner for a night out. Location is great. Right next to the downtown Gulfport area. Good sushi that comes in a boat if you have enough people to eat that much sushi :). Friendly staff and not a long wait for food.

Easily some of the best sushi in Gulfport. It has a great location downtown and is the perfect place to get sushi with friends. Ta has some delicious and creative rolls, and it is definitely worth a stop by if you love sushi. Make sure you try the Ocean Roll, a rice less roll wrapped in salmon. Great food, good service, and prime location. Ta has got it going on.

I have visited this restaurant four times. Overall, food is decent, and with the exception of my last visit, the service has been ~ok. During my last visit, a young, short and stout waitress with dark hair served me and my friend. I ordered soup, salad, one roll, and one hand roll. After finishing up my meal I told the server that I never received my hand roll. She responded with, «What is a hand roll?» and looked at me like I was from Mars for making up the word«hand roll.» After explaining to her what a hand roll is, she said with an accusatory tone, «Oh, you mean a TEMAKI. Did you say the word TEMAKI when you placed your order?» I responded with, «Are you seriously asking me this right now?» Long story short, the random roll that I had been served was what she thought was a hand roll. I don’t mind the mistake or even the fact that our waitress didn’t even know what a hand roll was, but I do mind her argumentative attitude. Usually, after one bad experience I would give the restaurant another try, but I’m done with this one. I do not plan on going back.

pretty typical overpriced sushi place with a great location. i was starving so i avoided the sushi in order to avoid a potential $ 50 bill for just myself. the steak teriyaki lunch was alright. everything was served at the same time though: miso, salad and entrée. not only was the service order lame, but the salad was very effortless and the miso was akin to water with floating mushrooms and scallions. they definitely have some service issues to work out. there’s also hardly enough space to move around. had we been at a table, i could probably have gotten felt up by at least two other tables with very little effort — so beware of reach-arounds. i understand that they just opened — mistakes and slips will be obvious; however, the prices are pretty steep, no lunch specials advertised… just because you’re located in downtown gulfport doesn’t make you posh. reality check. but i won’t be coming back any time soon. koi is way better in my opinion.
