I initially came to this plaza on my lunch break for Tenju, but in the spur of the moment, I decided I wanted to give this place a try. Their décor matches their name and gives them a unique personality. They have Jordan jerseys hung on their walls and their shelves have little animé figureines. Fitting for the 626 area haha. I suppose this spot wouldn’t be too bad to come, drink boba, and watch the game either! Since I only ordered to-go, I can’t speak about their dining experience or food. I went with one of their top sellers, the guava green tea. This drink was pretty delicious. I prefer my drinks a little sweet so I would recommend going light on the sugar for those who aren’t too keen of sugary syrups. I thought this was pretty similar to mango green tea(my other top fave drink so maybe I’m a little biased). Overall, this place satisfied my boba craving and was a short drive from my work place. I don’t think its comparable to half & half though. Come if you’re nearby, but don’t bust a mission for this.

Decorated with memorabilia ranging from animé, sports and cars. Near the center along the strip mall of other restaurants, clothing stores and 99 Ranch Market. The Old Boys is small yet charming Taiwanese restaurant perfect for a small gathering of friends, one on one dinning after the movies, or just for a quick bite. The food is tasty, authentic, and affordable; for example Beef Soup Wongton $ 8.99. This place wont blow your mind with it’s food or ambiance, but you’ll have a good time. Try the Onion Pancake with Egg.

Minus one for baby cockroach in my soup, no water offered food came fast but dumplings had a funny taste(sour), soup flavor weird hope I don’t get the runs! Bamboo taste like wood too hard, my brother in laws chicken plate had Napa cabbage? Tastes spoil. Pork chop cooked strange way too. They never came back to ask if we needed anything and my sister was telling them the pork chop is not cooked right… wet and slimy. Not any Taiwanese style I’ve ever had and I’m born in Taiwan!

My colleague got me the green tea from here. This was my first time trying their drink. It is okay, nothing particularly special about it. I asked for ½ sugar, and it was still a little too sweet for me.

Came in the other day to grab a quick drink with the hubby. Hubby got the almond milk tea and I got the rose milk tea. Both of the teas were great and full of flavor. I would just recommend that you get them half sweet or maybe even only a quarter sweet. The staff was kind enough to modify our drinks when we said that they were too sweet. Seems like a nice place to hang out and grab some awesome Taiwanese food. The ambiance is a little loud but again would make a nice hang out spot.

This is a little hip Taiwanese tea and snack shop in Hacienda Heights. It’s seems like a pretty cool place to hang out and watch a basketball game(there are 2 TVs with sports on at all times) while having some bubble tea and snacks. The interior looks like a teenager’s bedroom; decorated with basketball jerseys, sports memorabilia, animé posters and little keepsakes. There is one thing that did stick out here and it’s the staff. They were so nice to all the customers and really gave everyone their utmost attention and acknowledged everyone in the room. I noticed one of the employees(or maybe the owner) going around and making sure everyone was satisfied with their drinks and food. He even bent over to give a little toddler a high five. That’s pretty nice and is actually pretty rare to see these days… We ordered the tropical tea, peach slush and a Hong Kong style waffle. The tropical tea was not too sweet and had chunks of pineapple at the bottom and topped with a salted plum. The peach slush tasted a bit artificial but was so refreshing; we were definitely satisfied. The waffle was topped with whipped cream and chocolate syrup served fresh off the iron. Everything was tasty and to our liking. Combine the laid back atmosphere, with great snacks/drinks and super friendly and attentive staff this place deserves a solid 4 stars. These Old Boys deserve some praise. Good job.

I came here with my husband on a weekday for lunch. We ordered their beef soup noodle and pork chop dried noodle. I saw many people recommend their oolong milk tea with boba, so we ordered that too. I saw people said that their beef soup noodle tastes a bit different than most places. But I didn’t expect it would taste like this. Hmmmmm. It’s hard to describe. Maybe something like peanut butter?! Well, to me, it’s just weird! Oolong milk tea with boba is quiet disappointing too! I don’t really like their boba! Not to mention that I waited almost 20−25min for my boba. Only + is their pork chop. I love how they cooked instead of fried! The marinate sauce(?!) is very savory!

Came for lunch with a friend. The food was ok, and the tea was good. Nothing special that would have me come back. The location is small and the seating is tight. Service was ok.

I went there at around 10:30 on Monday night. It wasn’t pack at all which is good cause I could chill with my friend. Food is decent. What I like about this store is they open til midnight and also I can watch some NBA game here. It opens til 12 a. m which is pretty cool. Service is good. Always come over and asked us if everything is okay. Always refill water for me even I didn’t ask for it. I definitely will come back. P.S there is a waitress and she is cute! :)

The«old boys» is pretty hip! Sat down and server passed us the menu, they’ve got a cool-looking menu. They have quite a few authentic Taiwanese street food. Ordered a couple of them, was ok, not too bad and not fantastic, could be better. Boba tea is not too sweet but boba is soft more than chewy. Overall, passable.

Pleasantly surprised by this place. I didn’t expect the meal option to be so satisfying. I was expecting the typical boba and games shops that I’d been to in San Diego and that special and fried snacks. They didn’t have the old boys style chicken, which I guess worked out for me because I got the black pepper sauce chicken. It came with garlic baby bok choy, that was cooked, yet crunchy. Skin-on chicken under a slathering of delicious sauce, white rice, and a tofu/veggie mix that I really enjoyed. Definitely enough for two to split. Also tasted the mild spice popcorn chicken and I recommend it as well if you’re looking for something fried. The rose milk tea was pretty good. I ask for ¼ sugar though and it was STILL too sweet for me. But, then again, I think I have a lower tolerance for sugary things than average. If I lived closer, I would frequent this boba restaurant. From the looks of the photos, they have games and comics to pass the time in there.

Really nice, casual place to grab a bite! Interior is decked out in sports stuff and animé, complete with a bookshelf for comics. Seating is adequate, prices are reasonable. I tried the peppermint milk tea. I asked for easy sugar and ice, but the server suggested I tried regular sugar first, as its not too sweet. As someone who usually tones down the sugar, I’d say he’s right! It’s super creamy, with enough peppermint flavor but isn’t overwhelmingly sweet. I was initially underwhelmed with the presentation of the house special dry noodle, but its actually really good! The noodles look overdone but are actually quite chewy, and the flavor is strong with what appears to be fried onion, and fresh boiled greens and scallion. Not too salty either. Customer service is good but brief; how I’d prefer it to be, actually. Would definitely recommend! I’m gonna come back to try their other stuff for sure :)

Been here three times but only got their munchies once. I think all three times, I got their oolong milk tea, yea, it’s that good. My friends got their rose milk tea and their green milk tea and I’d take a sip but like the oolong better. Their fries are pretty addicting but I couldn’t tell what they seasoned it with. At first me and my friend thought it tasted like cinnamon but later thought it was like a donkatsu sauce? Their popcorn chicken is pretty good but I got big chunks :( This boba shop is in the 99 ranch plaza so there is plenty of parking, very easy to find. While sitting and eating/drinking there must have been at least 20+ people who came in after us to get boba to go or dine in. I really like this place better than tea station, quicklys, and a few others. Milk tea is not too sweet and the size is pretty big. You also get stamps for drinks you order when you dine in, unlike tea station. There is no outside seating but they have booths inside. Clean and very sporty look.

[ TIP ] 1. Parking sucks during dinner time rush hour of 5pm-8pm. If you don’t mind parking where the old El Torito used to be, there’s plenty of parking there if you choose to come around rush hour. [ DRINKS ] The honey green tea was pretty good, good bitterness although not as bold as I preferred. It was great that the tea wasn’t too sweet as recommended by the waiter that served us. The boyfriend ordered the green milk tea and was actually not a fan, said it was too diluted and watery. [ SERVICE ] Impressed! Got the honey green tea to-go and the waiter there was really helpful and plentiful nice as well. I’m not into sweet drinks and the waiter smiled and said he was the same and offered many other alternatives on the menu that wasn’t that sweet and we went with the honey green tea with half honey. Superb service!

BEST lunch spot, dinner spot, Taiwanese snack spot, & boba drinks spot in the area!!! I couldn’t ask for a better staff or better vibes than this. Everything I’ve ordered so far(come multiple times) has been delicious, like the lamb noodle soup, chicken roll rice, fried fish rice, tempura fish cakes, brick toasts, pork chop rice, fuzhou fishball noodle soup. etc! Is just keeps going! This place is much better than all the other tea houses around the area and the bar tender here really knows his stuff! The side dishes are also delicious too!!! GOODJOBOLDBOYS! Keep it up!!!

Stopped by for late night snack on way back to LA after long weekend and felt like some Taiwanese café food! What a super clean place! It feels brand new, has a few selection of comic books and 3 large screen TV’s. Started with mango strawberry slush And guava slushie… both wonderful tasting!!! Then had the brick toast with clam chowder… bread was really crispy… soup portion not so great… then had wonton soup Taiwanese style… pretty good… spicy beef noodle soup-very different touch compared to most places, was pretty good and finally house special noodle which was very good!

Drinks here are the best; I haven’t been let down by any drinks yet. They’re always perfectly sweet, but my favorite is definitely the milk tea slush with boba. Food is a little expensive, but the portions are big enough to justify the prices. The décor will definitely draw a lot of young people in; sports, animé/manga, and one fighting arcade machine. Service is good too; there’s always someone to greet you and ask how everything is. I drive all the way here just for drinks sometimes, haha

Summary: 3 stars for drinks and good service. Updated 3÷14÷16. —— Service seems great, although I have only ordered drinks to-go. On my first visit, one of the servers saw me staring at the menu and scratching my chin outside the door. He walked outside to greet me, and offered me a to-go menu. As soon as I made my way to the register, he began helping me and ringing me up. He was very friendly and helpful with recommendations. Inside, the shop is a mix between kitschy and modern with its dark wooden tables and chairs and old school Taiwanese baubles here and there. The menu had cheeky names, of which the humor gets lost in translation to English, and of course was printed in Comic Sans. Lol. The drinks were good, but not what I would go out of my way for. Boba are just the right chewiness for my preference some days and ever so slightly overcooked on other days. In the same plaza, Tenju Tea’s tea quality is better, but Old Boys has the upper hand with the boba flavor and texture. An observation about the boba: Call me crazy, but I think the size of each pearl is somewhere between your typical standard boba and mini boba. Old Boys has like a «medium» sized boba. Drinks are one large size only and price is standard. I ordered all drinks at full sugar and didn’t find the tea too sweet. However, paired with the sweet boba, I would probably order teas at 75% sweetness. I can see others who prefer less sweetness ordering 50% sugar. Also kinda random, but they provided a REALLY high quality cardboard drink carrier. It would not bend at all. I was lifting it up and admiring it on my way to the car. DRINKSORDERED: — House special milk tea($ 3.85). Standard but good flavor; I like it better than Half & Half’s. A little sweeter than the green milk tea. — House special green milk tea($ 3.85). Also good, pretty standard. — Kumquat lemon green tea($ 4.15). Pretty good mix of sweet, sour, and citrus flavor. It had some light pulp at the bottom. At full sugar, it’s too sweet, even for me. Note: $ 10 min for credit card payment.

This place is pretty chill and cool. I got there after lunch to pickup a bunch of drinks for my co-workers. I liked it… I like the décor inside… the owner and workers are cool. Lot of sports related and animé things inside. The drinks were still on the sweeter side but still not that bad. I’ll definitely come back…

Typical Taiwanese café fare with your standard fry up options and milk tea. Had some crispy popcorn chicken and fish fillet with rice while my friend had pork chop rice. It was good comfort food, definitely passable. Obviously not expecting an all-world option here, but definitely nice to have it in town. But seriously, we were sitting here for a good 15 minutes and our food hadn’t come. I know this stuff takes ATMOST5 minutes to make, so what’s the deal here? Only did we call over our server that we realized that she completely blanked out on putting in our order. It’s not like the place was super busy at all. Completely unacceptable in my book.
