So so place. When we were there, it seemed like zero energy from the staff as well as those sipping coffee. I’m aok with a low key vibe, but this was crypt-like. The Chai Latte was delish, the granola and yogurt is hard to mess up. Other places nearby have a better vibe, so you can go here if you’re hungover, or get some Java at a more fun place nearby.

I haven’t yet been here for regular daytime coffee, but love love love the Friday night live jazz concerts! In the evening, they serve all the daytime stuff + wine and beer. The place gets packed as the jazz quartet is amazing. In an era of proliferating corporate coffee places, truly unique places llike this are so refreshing!

When I get back to HMB I always stop in here for a bite to eat and a cup of coffee. I think that the coffee is fantastic– today I had a cheddar scone and a turkey and Brie sandwich, both were fantastic. I’ll be honest when I admit that I am a little biased, forever ago, this spot used to be my fathers butcher shop– so the nostalgia might affect my judgement. The owner is super nice and I enjoy the place. Today I noticed a sign that requested keeping phone conversations brief or taking them outside, I wish more people would. Keep it up coffee society! See you next time we’re in town.

Quaint coffee shop, nice ambience, several wooden tables of various shape inside, round and rectangular, wooden espresso bar, organic and fair trade coffees, Belgian waffles with fresh berries and wiped cream, pastries, couple of tables outside if you want to sip and watch the crowd. It’s all good.

Worked in this café at Half Moon Bay for an afternoon. Good environment, if you prefer working at quieter places. You’ll definitely NOT need headphones if you are working out of here. Lots of coffee options to try from — I ordered their latte and really liked it. Will definitely stop by here next time in Half Moon Bay!

I ordered a coffee and sandwich there. Pros: It is one of three coffee shops on Main Street and one of six in Half Moon Bay. i.e. there are other coffee shops with good coffee. Cons: — The coffee reminded me of cheap diner coffee. Even Starbucks or Peets is far better. The expresso machine looked as old as the hills. — The owner had his huge belly hanging over and on the deli counter where he was making food. He was eating a sandwich and dropping food out of his mouth right onto a customer’s lunch. He then served it to them. It was pretty disgusting. He was also barking orders at the counter girls who seemed very sweet — he was pretty nasty and they didn’t look happy at all. I canceled my order and insisted on getting my money back. Two words come to mind: gross and creepy.

I have been in Café Society about 10 times since they opened. It is(in my opinion) the best cup of coffee on Main Street. They also have super tasty cakes/pastries as well as empanadas and quiche. Its a nice vibe with friendly staff. Today I went in there and had forgotten my wallet. So I changed my order to just coffee as i only had a couple of bucks. Not only did the customer in front offer to pay for my lunch but the woman working gave me the delicious cake I had pointed out earlier:) Very nice experience.

Come here on a regular basis. Awesome, welcoming atmosphere. Homemade pastries. Don’t miss the coffee cake — they always have amazing flavor combination. I love the lattes’ rich, smooth flavor and, oh, the selection of teas!

OK we went here because it was the only place open around 330. The soup was awful, it was completely cold. After asking to reheat it remained cold. I can’t give zero stars but is the worst place I have been to in years. Better to go hungry. We walked out.

Small coffee shop on Main Street at Half Moon Bay. Great relaxing atmosphere and friendly staff members, most customers are locals. We came in on a Sunday morning and the shop was filled with people. The coffee was amazing! We ordered: Poppyseed bagel with Sun dried tomato cream cheese $ 3.50 Caffe Latte $ 4.25

Both times it’s been very welcoming. The extra expresso gave a good kick to my mocha and later my coffee. The dark roast was on the lighter side but decent. I like the food better. The cranberry morning muffin and the Chipotle chicken both left me wanting more! Also like the jazz EZ street vibe, especially if you come during the week without the crowds.

I hate giving places less than three stars because I know everyone is trying their hardest, but this just wasn’t good coffee. I had a dirty chai lattee that was watery and didn’t taste much like chai or espresso, and I had a cup of coffee that tasted like a two star cup of coffee. I will say, I like the interior of the coffee shop. It has beauitful old photographs and lots of light, and its got a great location for people watching on Main Street of Half Moon Bay.

It’s a very nice caffe with a lovely atmosphere! Very cozy and an good choices of tea, coffee and dessert… Although it’s unbelievable that they serve you coffee in paper cup! I even asked for the porcelain one, but since they said they were going to close soon, the paper cup was the only option! That’s very disappointing! I hope they won’t do that again anymore!

Why hadn’t I been here before? Solid latte, fairly quick service, and some nice indoor seating. A great place to grab a coffee and read for an hour after walking on the beach. Might get crowded on weekends, but wasn’t bad at all on a Thursday.

I’ve been wanting to write a review for this place ever since I started coming(I was an MCoffee fan and had high expectations for anyone that would try to replace an old favorite). When I read a couple reviews that mentioned laptop use and/or hangout and how it’s frowned upon, I got really excited and decided to hold off on a review until I could experiment in store a few times. It was finals season and I did need a place to write papers so I figured, why not Café Society?! I purposely 1) asked for help getting on the wifi, 2) plugged my cord in, and 3) sat in different spots each time I came. I never once got any rude attitude from anyone working there. One time I even stayed 3 hours. Granted, I spent at least 20 bucks in there on that visit, spaced out throughout the 3 hour time and they were not busy. I have no idea what the employees were thinking, who knows maybe they didn’t appreciate that I was staying so long but that doesn’t really matter to me. What matters is that no one expressed any negativity toward me, about my laptop use or the fact that I stayed for an extended visit. The food is really good, even though lots of it isn’t made in house. I get a caprese quiche almost every time I stop in because it’s SOGOOD and comes with a cute little side salad or berries. I also really like their iced coffee/cold brew as well as their baked goods(from a local bakery, they often have gluten free options too). It’s simple quick food but it’s really good. The sandwiches that they make also look really good, though I haven’t tried them because of my love for the quiche. The people who frequent here are also super nice. I’ve lived in HMB for over 20 years and know that people here are generally pretty kind. They seem to cluster at Café Society though. Every time I go in there the person sitting next to me strikes up a conversation. Usually they are older people who seem to be regulars and have really interesting stories to tell. I love it and adds a really nice small town feel to the place.

We stopped by during a friend’s birthday weekend visit to HMB. Café Society features a selection of sweet and savory goods. I had a difficult time deciding, but went with a cheddar scone, $ 3.00, which was crumbly and tasty, not too dry. They have empanadas. I’d like to try that in the future. I ate a lot of hot pockets in college. Terrible for you, but sooo delicious.

Very pleasant café and room for stroller or pram. The muffins and cakes look very nice and I can vouch for the muffin. The coffee was good if a little too hot. The macchiato is not the European style ie small but quite large. It was still a pleasant drink. We also had ham & cheese croissants. They were pretty good too.

We rocked up to this café early in the day so we were able to pick a nice table at the back. There was more than enough room to push a stroller through the café and park next to a table and be out of the way. I had a small cappuccino which turned out to be quite large and was a pretty standard coffee with a layer of foam on top. It wasn’t bad coffee, just a bit too hot, large and not«espresso-y» enough. I also had a ham and cheese croissant which was tasty. At my table one of my party ordered a macchiato, which I was told was good but technically not a macchiato. Overall a nice experience, nice service but coffee quality needs improvement.

Everyone wants to compare this to M coffee, but it’s entirely different located in the same place. M coffee definitely had that old rustic feel to it, but I think Café Society has definitely kept the classic in tact, with a spin of modern day touch to it. The coffee & lattes are well made. The service is kept at a good pace(M coffee had very slow service). I haven’t had a chance to really hang out at Café Society but they are my daily stop for coffee! The baristas are also nice, so that’s a plus!
