This place has had quite the nose dive over the years. It used to be called saddle ridge and now PBR. Professional bull riding. We were at the bar with the mechanical bull. Our bartender was never there when we needed a drink and we had to endure the lifetime bull riding guys that PBR has. Seriously, he’s been there for years… Get a real job! They often try to make girls sexy by allowing them to straddle this thing which makes you want to… Well you get the point. You shouldn’t wear that, etc. the dance floor is full of young people who only know how to line dance. I learned to dance in Texas, it’s quite shameful to watch. The crowds can be annoying and when I say that I mean everyone is a bad ass and ready to fight. The two highlights of this place are the bathroom attendants who actually offer a service and the outdoor fire pits. But no matter where you go you are running into cigarette smoke. I’m glad we went last night but I’m glad I don’t frequent places like this.

PBR can stand for a lot, but in this case it’s Professional Bull Riders. Now, I don’t know who’s a pro but I did witness one girl riding the bull like one. She’s probably a regular at this bar. It’s a huge space. There’s an upstairs. Bars up there, too. But the action is on the first floor. That’s where the bull is. And if you come here, that’s what you’ve come to do. Or line dance. They’re heavy on that.

This place makes me laugh. It’s such a mix of crowds here. You have people who ride the bull all night long and when I say ride it, they legitimately must take lessons because they stay on for 5 – 10 mins at a time. Then you have your crowd on the«dance floor.» I think there are about 3 – 4(I could be wrong) total bars in the place. We didn’t go upstairs bc I think that was smoking only, at least that’s what we were told. They had tons of their TV’s on to show the different sporting events going on that night. The back patio was open because the weather was nice and warm out even though it was December. Oh and dress code is so mixed. Some girls were wearing skin tight dresses and others were wearing jeans and a cute top. Guys wore a variety of clothes too. I say wear whatever is comfortable because I saw such a variety. Oh also, there was a $ 5 cover at the door and we came on a Wednesday. Not sure if it’s different any other day of the week. Drinks were good, not extremely strong though. I paid $ 5.50 I believe for a gingerale and vodka(rail) and $ 7 for a jack and Coke.

It is what it is. Plenty of single ladies. Plenty of drunk cowboys ready to fight for no reason. Plenty of cool people to make fun of those guys. Expensive watered down drinks. Fun dance floor. If you find yourself here you’ll probably have a decent time. *Advice — Don’t bring you’re girlfriend here if you’re insecure.

My buddy checked his knife at the door, walked out after three beers to go to the ATM. Tried to walk in 2 mins later, they wouldn’t let him in. Said he seemed drunk. Wouldn’t even let him in to get his jacket. He called me to bring it out. I told them they were being outrageous. He literally drank three beers. They told me to get out too. Got home and realized he forgot his knife. Went back at opening the next day and they said there were no knives there. Thieves, disrespectful arrogant and the bull riders damn near molest any woman who attempts to ride the bull.

There are plenty of lovely set-ups here, including a dance floor(mainly staged for line dancing, but not limited to), a mechanical bull, a stripper pole and pool tables.

My first time here started well enough. I was with a VIP party and the waitress was decent. By the time more customers came in, she rarely came to our table. At 10:30, she charged my card and brought me my tab, which I had not asked for. I had 3 half off beers because of the VIP party, 2 full price beers and an entrée. My tab was $ 67. I asked the waitress for an itemized tab, and she had shots on there that I had not ordered. She came back with a tab that looked more like it should be. I checked my account on Monday and I have been charged twice, once for the correct amount and once for the $ 67. Now I can’t get in touch with anyone there, and I’m forced to take this up with my credit card company. My advice? Don’t go there. No place should charge your card without showing you your tab first. This place will never get my money again, and I have told the entire VIP party about what I’m going through. If you get Jessica, tell her ahead of time to not charge your card before you see your tab. I will keep this review at 1 star until this issue is resolved.

I’ve been here twice. Both times were for birthday parties. The birthday girl signed up for a package which includes wristbands and a mini buffet area. We arrived at around 8:00 because we wanted to get there before happy hour ended. I had no idea that the birthday package included food, but we were told that we could grab some food from a table closer to the entrance containing salad, some kind of broiled or baked fish, and other items. We headed to the bar and ordered drinks. I had two yummy tequila sunrises. The bartender was cool. I forgot to get her name but she had black hair. It was pretty empty since it was so early, so we stood around chatting and taking photos. They said if we took photos and tagged them on Twitter/IG with the hash tag«PBRHampton,» we could see our photos on the TV near the bull. It took about five minutes or so but eventually we saw them. We goofed off some more, finished the first round of drinks, and then ordered a few more. My friend suggested malibu and orange juice. I couldn’t really taste the alcohol but it was good. There was a waitress standing next to us(it looked like she was putting orders in at the register) and she asked what I was drinking. I told her and she said«Oh yeah, you can’t really taste it but you’ll feel it later.» I edited that a little, but yeah. I asked her what her name was and she said Laura. Then we decided to order food. I let my friends order first. I make simple decisions so difficult, so I asked our waitress what she would recommend and she said the quesadillas were good, the cheese fries were delicious, and the quesadilla burgers were good too. I went with the quesadilla burgers. To make my visit even better, happy hour hadn’t ended yet, so the quesadilla burgers(listed as appetizers) were half off. We stood near the bar and waited for our food. While I was talking to my friend, I saw a woman at the bar with some kind of green drink. My friend asked her what it was called and she told him it was a «liquid marijuana.» We headed back to the other end of the bar to ask the bartender about the ingredients. I can’t recall everything that’s in it, but I believe she said it had lime, some kind of sour stuff, and vodka. I ordered one and it came out pretty quickly. Before I knew it, my food was out too. The liquid marijuana was the most delicious drink I’ve had in a while. I wanted another one but I figured I’d had enough. The quesadilla burgers were delicious, although I wish they had more cheese. Two of them had a pretty good amount of cheese in them, but the last one didn’t, which made the burger taste a little dry and hard to get down. I’d order them again though. They were the perfect size and while I didn’t think so when I initially saw them, three was enough. After stuffing our faces, we danced a little and talked to the other people we knew there. Our waitress found us and said they were making her close us out(the food anyway) since happy hour was about to end. She brought us our receipts and we were done. I’d say the place got really packed and started to feel more like a party at about 9:00 or 9:30. My friend convinced me to ride the bull. I lasted all of 15 seconds, but I had fun. When I first got in the line to ride it, the guy pointed to my hair and asked«What’s all this?» I responded«My gorgeous naturalness.» He said«Oh, I’ve got some of that,» and took his hat off to reveal his wonderfully shaven bald head. Cool guy! The rest of the night consisted of dancing, goofing off and having a good ol’ time… minus when I went to request a song. I walked up the DJ and asked«Are you all taking requests?» The guy with the cowboy hat on(the 106.1DJ/host, I believe) said«Obviously not.» Uh… okay? I told him«Okay, chill out bro» and walked away. Admittedly, I can be overly sensitive, but come on. A simple«Not right now» would’ve sufficed. I think they started taking requests later but I didn’t feel like going up there and being snapped at again. I think I bumped into him by mistake on the dance floor too. My friend made a joke and said«Yeah…he hates you.» Hahaha. Wouldn’t be the first person, but you can’t please em’ all. With that said, I wasn’t overly pleased with the music. I would hear a really awesome song and it would play for 30 seconds to a minute and then switch to something else. I guess I just want to dance my butt off to a song in its entirety. Even Copperhead Road(when it finally did play) felt shorter than what I was used to(but maybe that’s a good thing seeing as the line dance is so exhausting). Sigh. Still, I like to think of myself as the type of person who can have fun regardless of what the DJ is playing, so yes, I danced, I laughed, and I had a good time. Overall, I like PBR a lot. While it isn’t a place I’d go every weekend(due to the fact that I’m too lazy to drive to Hampton), I think it’s worth the drive every once in a while.

All of the qualities one would look for in a downtown dance club with the convenience of being in an auto dependent suburban development with excess parking and easy interstate access. Well, not QUITE the experience I would have in say, Dupont Circle– but for Hampton Roads I was pretty impressed. I had my doubts after seeing the neighboring businesses(home improvement store and a huge Bass Pro Shop), but once I stepped inside I was pleasantly surprised by the huge dance floor and lively crowd. My friend is in town for work and asked me for my opinion on a good dance place close to Williamsburg. After consulting with some of my straight friends in the area, this sounded like our best bet. The place was already quite full when we arrived a little after 10. $ 5 cover on a Saturday night– not bad. The bar staff(mostly women dressed in little clothing) were nice and drinks were average. There were enough bars that I didn’t have to fight to get a drink. As for the actual dancing, it was pretty good. We both would have preferred more current hits, but it seems that country music is the staple here. They also played a number of older classics. We briefly went into Luckie’s next door, which did have more of the music we wanted, but was much less busy and lacked the club-like atmosphere of PBR. So after a few minutes there we walked back over here(and had no problems getting in since our hands were stamped when we paid our cover). As one would expect, this place attracts a lot of young folks from the military. Single ladies should have no problem finding a dance partner here. Since driving is the only option to get here, you obviously need to plan accordingly for a sober driver.

My husband and I found ourselves in Hampton last night so we checked out Groupon and saw one for PBR. It was something different so we tried it out. The place was dead, but it was 9:00 on a Wed so that wasnt surprising. Our waitress was beyond friendly and we were surprised by how good our food was. My husband got the white hot pizza and loved it! I had the sweet and smoky chicken wrap and enjoyed it. We’re kind of curious to go back and see what it would be like packed on a Fri night.

I had a Groupon for food here and it was pretty terrible. The service was okay and the wings were not bad but our main course was inedible. I would go back here to check out the nightlife scene but never again to eat. We did not get any drinks but they had a large liquor selection. Only 3 beers on tap though(Budweiser, Bud Light, Michelob Ultra) and all alcohol comes in a plastic cup.

We were invited to a dinner party with friends, and upon arrival, we were given a variety of wrist bands, that would allow us to wander in and around the 4 bars that make up the PBR complex. We ordered drinks, and waited for the buffet to get up and going. As we were early, the place was only moderately full. As our evening went on, the place started to fill up. The food on the buffet was OK. Just not a lot of it there. When they ran out of something, that was it; what is left is what is left. Our server was pretty much behind all evening. The place is large, and she had a lot of ground to cover. However, her coming and goings were few and far between. Watching the: 1) drunks. 2) exhibitionist gals 3) Losers of table bets, ride the mechanical bull was amusing. We went with friends for a dinner party(having won this in a drawing of mechanical bull riders) and had a great time. I think I will stick with the Tapps side of the place, and their great Wednesday and Thursday Happy Hour specials. Your mileage may vary.

If you have any class at all you will avoid this place and all their dress code rules that appear to be enforced on a whim by their clueless beefcake security staff. You can pretty much escort yourself out the door if they decide they don’t like you. It’s a joke– you couldn’t pay me to go back there

Good atmosphere. Variety of music. Decent crowd. The first floor has a relatively spacious dance area, a mechanical bull, and four separate bars, connected to a business named Tapp’s, and a fairly large, clean patio. The second floor is well maintained and features some pool tables and even a stripper pole. $ 5 cover for access to PBR and Tapp’s, $ 7 cover for access to a whole strip of venues! I used to be a dance instructor, teaching seven different dances. I always enjoy the coordination,(and appreciate the patience) of the employees allocated all night, that teach line dancing, are there to entertain, and allow everyone to be comfortable on the floor near them and have a blast. It’s apparent that they have fun, too! They also maintain appropriate security personnel, and measures, to ensure everyone has a good, safe time.

I went here for a group meeting and I will admit that although I watch PBR, I had never been to a PBR bar before. Mechanical Bull you say? Yes please! I ordered a Corona(with Grenadine and a lime. Try it!) and the Chicken Tenders. The tenders were nothing to rave about. The staff was super friendly but the bartender put my change in front of the stranger next to me. I’d call that a lack of attention on his part, but I wasn’t upset as I(thankfully) noticed it. At the beginning of the night is an acoustic band and country-line dancing and towards the middle/end it really comes to life! They had a great selection of present day music and it takes on a great club feel. Ladies: The bathrooms are huge and relatively clean. Later in the night, they also have the typical selection of mints, mouthwash, body spray, etc.(You’re welcome) Gentlemen: There is a bar, stripper pole, and pool tables on the second floor.(You’re also very welcome) I can’t wait to come here again. FYI: Happy hour is 4:00pm-8:00pm.

2 words: MECHANICALBULL. Ok, in all seriousness, this spot was very different for a NoVa/DC person like myself. From the music to décor, the ambiance was very cowboy/southern friendly. One side of the wall which divides the bar from the patio, comes up like a garage door, allowing smokers to waltz in and out conveniently. Towards the center of the first floor, people gathered around the dance floor to line dance. Cute. There was no cover but that may be because my friend knew people and had hookups. Not sure how much or if there is cover. But again, … MECHANICALBULL!!! It was so much fun. Most of my friends were close by to watch but one friend said I was on PBR’s circuit tv around the bar and they were able to watch me from afar. Good thing I didn’t fly off like the rest of the girls. I wanna go back to try it again! Good mixed crowd. Would definitely visit again if I’m in town.

The marketing director, Danielle, is a sweetheart. She accommodated my work group for an After Work Party and she made it happen. Kudos to her for doing a great job. The variety of music they played was alright; I like when the DJ takes over and have a little bit of everything for everyone. The atmosphere is nice, loud, fun to watch other people. Very spacious, you can go outside on the deck to lounge and smoke or head up to the 2nd floor to play some pool tables or dance on their dance pole. :) One tip for this place would be to have better security; you never know who can bring a weapon in and if something turns about then there’s not much a bouncer can do. When you have high feelings, liquor/booze, smokes, hot women/men etc… it’s the perfect place for a storm. Thank God, the moments I have gone, nothing major but it would give me a peace of mind, if I knew they had better security. Food/Drinks are great, reasonable; I always show up for happy hour so I get my few good drinks in for ½ the price. :) There were a couple of people that are regulars and even though they can be a crowd pleaser, it gets old. There’s a guy and gal who seems to know all of the dance moves so this is great if you are wanting to learn how to line dance; but when you try to incorporate line dancing into something like«We Found Love» by Rihanna, you are taking it too far… very cheesy lol :) There is another regular, older lady with long blonde hair; she use to teach line dancing, she goes around dancing with a partner; I think she looks great, but she tends to not like it when it gets crowded on the dance floor; she purposely(as she was dancing 2 steps with her partner) bumped into people to give herself room; the look on her face, it was one of an annoyed dancer who couldnt get her dance-on because the place gets packed; my suggestion to her is… chill out, relax and enjoy what you can, you dont have to dominate the entire dance floor to have a good time. *winks* Overall, the place is fun to hang out; great for ladies night out, after work parties and social gatherings. Parking lot gets full and the party doesnt really get started till closer to 10. :)

I kinda feel bad for the people who got kicked out by bouncers :( I had a great time! I went with a girlfriend of mine. Our bartender Lonny was very sweet. I ended up seeing him both the times we were out(sat and sunday night). Good customer service and they have tons of beers on tap. Our waitresses have also been very sweet. The bouncers– they definitely looked like no-nonsese big harley riding dudes who could knock a 200 lb guy out by spitting on ‘em. But BOTH the days i was there, no fights, no nonsense and no knock outs. The drinks we were made were mediocre strong and not too expensive(my wine was 6 $, mixed drink was $ 7) Sat and Sunday night there was a rock band– really fun! I also love the fact that there are two different parts to PBR– one playing rock and the other playing clubby pop/rock music. Also, i always appreciate open space for smokers :) 3 $ cover wasnt too horrible for memorial weekend. Overall, i cant wait to return :)
