Awful! First off, the place reeked of stale beer as if the floors hadn’t been mopped from the night before. I went there on a Friday night, so there was quite a crowd. When we got there, there was no one to greet us once you get past security. There’s a sign that tells you to seat yourself. As we walked through the place looking for an empty table, the stale beer smell seemed to drift throughout the place. There were also several tables that hadn’t been cleaned from previous customers and the floor was filthy. We decided to sit on the patio, but that was no better. We finally found a semi-clean table, but the smell was almost too much to bear. Once we placed our order, it took a while for the food to arrive. The food was terrible! My fries were cold and my fish had no seasoning. My husband asked for a burger with just cheese, but it came with pickles and mustard… really? The burger was also tasteless and so was his beer. He said it tasted like the tap had not been cleaned. Needless to say, this will be the last time we eat at this place!

Just ok. Depends on your bartender. I ordered the same drink multiple times and all were different

Boooooo!!! They denied us drinks because they didn’t feel like they got tipped enough! What kind of customer service is this? The waitress threw the receipt at friend… If I could give this place 0(zero) stars I would…

I’m going to update my review here because this place has terrible reviews and I’ve never had a bad experience. Bar Louie is my go to place when in this area of Hampton because I love their menu and I know that a lot of their items are made fresh on site which is what I always look for in an establishment. I like the inside layout, I like that I seat myself wherever I want with no guilt, they have TONS of seating and have options like booths, high tops, informal chairs with little tables for drinks and apps, a large patio, and tables by the windows all around to people watch as well as bar seating of course. I’ve eaten here a total of seven times and have never waited longer than about 5 – 10 minutes to be greeted for a drink order. Typically it’s around 5 minutes or less. I’ve never had bad service where I’ve been ignored and I have never waited over 30 minutes for my food or had my food be wrong or terrible. To be fair — I am not a drinker or partier so I don’t come during normal busy bar hours but I have been at lunch, mid-day and dinner, week nights and weekends. The food is always good — I have no complaints. I’ve tried their loaded tater tots and fries(just what you’d expect — tater tots or fries with queso, tomatoes, scallions and bacon), salmon sliders(my personal fave — huge salmon steaks on small brioche buns with spinach, tomato and basil aioli), the portobello burger(YUM), flatbread, wedge salad, side salad, three chips and dip, and lettuce wraps. All were very good. I want to try to voodoo chicken and shrimp at some point — but I am stuck on those damn salmon sliders! They host Paint Nites here and it’s located in the new Peninsula Town Cener shops by Target and tons of other stores. It’s a cute outdoor mall and I love walking around and window shopping after o eat so that’s a perk too. Or server this last time was super friendly(I’ve had a few good ones here truthfully) and made pleasant small talk with us while we sat. All good things.

Went there a couple of days ago. The Double melon martinis were great and the verde chicken flatbread was on point. However, it took me to get up to the bar and ask the bartender if there were any waiter/waitress because my boyfriend and i were just sitting there for a good 20 – 30 minutes with no one coming by. Once we finally got attended it took forever to get our drinks && even longer to get our flatbread. The drinks and food were great but the service was terrible.

5 $ burger Tuesday night is awesome! Service is usually great. I have been on the weekend where service is a little slower but it is also usually packed. Drinks are good but prices are a little high. Happy hours has good appetizers and drink specials.

Terrible, terrible dining experience. The place was DEAD. Seriously. It was a Thursday night, the power was out in half of the shopping center, but not Bar Louie(and the place was dead… should have been our first sign). So, we ended up here. The service was TERRIBLE. We had a party of 10. All of us ordered drinks & appetizers to start. It took 20+ minutes to get our first round of drinks. Then we didn’t see our server again for over half an hour. We order our next round, put in our food orders… and wait. And wait. And wait some more. I’m done after two drinks, so I wasn’t as inconvenienced as everyone else. But a friend in my group got up and went to the bar for another beer. She was back, with her beer, in less than a minute. We finally ask to speak to a manager, and are told that our server is training someone. Great. Training someone to be a crappy, crappy server. So, we finally get our food. Most peoples orders were mediocre at best. My fish tacos were blah, and after waiting almost 2 hours for dinner, I didn’t even finish it(which sucks considering how much three sad tacos cost). But, one member of my party was served raw chicken. Seriously. She cut the chicken open, and it was completely raw. Avoid this place like the plague.

This place is a joke. They didn’t get ONE thing right the whole time I was here. All I saw was them taking back drinks for whatever reason. The staff is dressed in street clothes and seem to do whatever they want. Do not suggest coming here. Food was good(hence the 2 stars), but they messed up my order.

They have an OK selection of beer and the happy hour prices are good. But the food is mediocre and the service is hit or miss… mostly miss.

We experienced a big time fail with this place last weekend before a show at the Coliseum. As was to be expected, the place was slammed. It took over 45 minutes to get our drink order. We were still close to an hour and a half from showtime and had zero expectation that the kitchen could get an order out to us on time. It seemed like the usual Sunday night crew was working and they weren’t even close to being up to the task of handling the crowd. We were all trying to mimic John Taffer from the show Bar Rescue while we waited. Even that couldn’t keep us entertained for long. Now under normal expectations, I understand when a restaurant or bar get busy unexpectedly. It happens. But when thousands of people are going to descend on the nearby Coliseum for a 7:30 show, chances are a good percentage of them are going to want dinner and drinks beforehand. Management should anticipate these things and staff their establishment accordingly. We went elsewhere for food and still made showtime. Totally unsat Bar Louie!

Some of the bartenders are nice, however the majority of them are always impatient and in a rush!!! I really only come here if I have nowhere else to go and don’t want to go across the water! Basic bar atmosphere and typically local bar tenders(except for maybe 1 – 2)

I liked the atmosphere and the set up but I don’t like that you have to seat yourself. The drinks were really good and they had a lot of options. The bartenders were working extremely hard to keep up with the crowd, but we didn’t get to try the food because they were so backed up. I think they should have planned ahead knowing that there was an event at the Hilton Coliseum. They had a lot of drink items to choose from. I wish we could have had the food because it sounded amazing on the menu. I liked that they had two outside areas as well.

NEVERGOHERE!!! Waited for over 30 minutes for a drink(the first word in your restaurant name is «BAR»…hint hint management). Ordered food right away and after 30 minutes were told it was gonna take another 15 min…15 min later the waiter comes back to tell us he was mistaken and it was gonna be over 40MINUTESMORE to get our food! Asked to speak to a manager… never got that respect! Left with one beer and NOFOOD! Went to 5 guys and met up with 5 other tables we saw who did the same thing we did… LEFTHANGRYANDPISSED!

I love it here! My husband and I came here on a Sunday night not many people there. Service was good. The voodoo chicken is AMAZING! So yummy I was impressed! For a drink I got a strawberry lemonade sangria it was perfect not too strong not to juicy. Definitely will be returning for a happy hour sometime soon.

The service was horrendous. I ordered a cheeseburger and received a chicken sandwich w/cheese. Returned the next night — fool me twice.. . The fish and chips were over cooked, cold and not plentiful. We were a party if 12. None of us were satisfied. Thankfully, the manager cut us some slack and comped us some of the worst meals. Bye Louie!

We were a little hesitant to try this place based on the recent posts from fellow and respected Unilocalers. However, being pinched on time we decided to give it a try and thankful we did. Service: Service: Started off along the same as other Unilocalers complained of «seat yourself and wait for the wait staff.» Apparently this has been the thorn in the establishments side but not this time. Thankfully, it wasn’t too long before our server Aramis came by and took our drink order. Drinks: My wife choose to support the fight against breast cancer by ordering the Think Pink Martini, and I went for the traditional Dirty Martini. Both were mixed well and quite tasty. Dinner: Preparing for a ½ marathon I thought I’d give the Voodoo Pasta a try and it rocked! That said, it could’ve used a little more spice for my palate. My wife ordered the Jerk Chicken and Shrimp Lettuce Wraps, which were also good but way to hot-spicy for the dish. I would’ve enjoyed it but my wife is more of an average heat-spice eater, found it to hot. Deserts: Wanting something sweet but finding nothing on the menu catching our eye they made a desert«just for us.» The treat consisted of banana pudding with Heath crumbles layered on top a vanilla cake served in the shiner(mason jar). Awesome! Just to cover the bases my wife also ordered the Chocolate Cake, which was pretty good, especially with the vanilla ice cream and extra chocolate sauce on the side. Cleanliness: The tables could’ve been a little cleaner and the booths weren’t placed back together so the seats were snug after cleaning. However, the floors, glasses, dishes and bathrooms were all very clean. Atmosphere: The look and feel reminded me of a Manhattan Bar, modern and classy. Well done. Overall: Our server made sure our experience was a good one nearly overcoming the small shortfalls elsewhere. Between our server Aramis and the chef accommodating our requests I give them 3.5 Stars but feel I should round down until our return visit.

came to meet a friend during Happy Hour. Interior was nicer than I expected, bar area was nice and clean. Bartenders were great, attentive and checking up on us at good intervals. Have to give a special shoutout to the male bartender there, can’t recall his name… believe it’s Stephen? Kind of saved me from an uncomfortable small talk with the man sitting a few seats from me. Ordered and shared the chicken nachos, a bit on the salty side but nice complement to the sweet cocktails. Liked that they update the bar tab as you order so you know how much you’ll be spending haha Would come again if I’m in the Hampton area.

My friend and I came here after leaving an excruciatingly boring adult birthday party. We hoped to liven our spirits by going to a nearby club but our attire wasn’t appropriate, so we headed to Bar Louie. Upon entering the bar, we were asked to show ID. I thought that was cute. I’m 40 years old. lol The atmosphere here seemed to be pretty hip. We loved the décor. We decided to sit at the bar. It took about five minutes for a bartender to greet us. It took about 20 minutes to get our food. After we finished our meal, we made several attempts to get the attention of our bartender to make our payment. We sat around for a while after eating trying to figure out why we hadn’t been approached by our bartender. We attempted waving down another bartender who glanced at us then looked away and walked in the opposite direction. I thought to myself, «Wow. How rude!» We eventually got the attention of our bartender, paid for our food and left. We were both pleased with our food and I’m certain we will return but I’m hoping that we will receive better service.

Came here before a movie date since it’s right across the movie theater. I have been to BL before in Richmond, so I suggested to my boyfriend that we try it out. There was no hostess to seat us as there was a sign saying to sit anywhere. After sitting at tables that I realized had not been cleaned off so well, we chose a high top table by the bar. We sat down and it took some time for a waitress to greet us and start our orders. We both got drinks — a strawberry lemonade sangria for me and a Sam Adams seasonal beer for the boyfriend. The bar screwed up my order and had given me what looked like a regular sangria. I didn’t realize it when I took a little sip, but the waitress took it back and got me the right drink. My drink was delicious and refreshing — reminded me of a spiked Red Robin Strawberry Lemonade. For our food, we just got some appetizers since we were not too hungry. I got the bruschetta and he got the shrimp tempura. Both portions were big. The bruschetta was great. I was a bit disappointed that it wasn’t served with a spoon since you have to scoop the the tomatoes, cheese, basil, etc on to your bread, but I just used the fork that I had handy. We did run out of bread and had plenty of filling left over, but the waitress was able to get us more bread. The boyfriend enjoyed his shrimp as it came with 3 different dips: something full of herbs, buffalo sauce, tangy sauce. Service from our waitress was pretty slow. It was slow for her to start off to getting us our check. I’m glad we didn’t get charged for getting the extra bread, at least. There was a manager wandering around to ask if everything was okay, but besides that just lackluster service which was pretty evident with the tables around us not being so clean. Yeah, this location could use some work. Other stuff: –Patio area available on a nice day –Kitchen serves late

Enjoyed Bar Louis for the first time this weekend and it was an interesting experience. This elegant looking bar is in the Peninsula Town Center(PTC). The environment is cozy with a moderate décor about the place. A large bar, plenty of seating and the lighting is just right. The Drinks have to be the best thing about this bar. I had a dirty martini with blue cheese stuffed olives. It was excellent! The martini was made with Effin Ultra Premium Vodka, filled to the rim, with three nice size olives. The price was not listed on the menu but it I think it was reasonably priced when I got my check. The Food: Now keep in mind this is a bar, however when you enter this place, you would expect a better menu selection. They have wraps, burger, salads a nice variety of appetizers and a few dinner items. NOSTEAKS, which I was a little disappointed about because that is what I wanted. I had the VooDoo chicken instead with rice and peppers. The dinner was overloaded with the Voodoo sauce and was not really warm. The rice was good and the papers were crunchy. I proably won’t order this next time I’m there. Overall this is a great place for drinks and bar food. Price is reasonable and the service was GREAT(I forgot to mention that). They have a bomb-fire on the back porch and the environment out there is nice. So if you ever at PTC in Hampton, check out Bar Louie.
