Food was delicious! I had the shrimp stuffed fish and my wife had the BBQ pork. Both dishes were great. However, my wife doesn’t like seafood and she tasted my fish and loved it. That says a lot! Driving Hana road was worth it to have some of Troy’s food! Just be sure to find an ATM before you get on Hana rd!

So my husband and I fell upon this place and we’re so happy that we did! Food was great, we both had the BBQ Pork and I had the Katsu Chicken and he the coconut shrimp. The folks were very pleasant and even chatted with us for a bit. I would highly recommend Troys

Great food, service, price and spectacular view! We had the teriyaki pork, Korean BBQ chicken, coconut shrimp and BBQ pork. ALL delicious! The owner /chef was extremely kind and welcoming. I believe they are only open on Thursdays. So if you are on the road to Hana and get a chance to stop by, it’s definitely worth it.

We ended up here because the popular and high Unilocal-rated Braddah Hut’s was closed… On a Saturday. LOCATION: Koki Beach. Look for the small hut with the neon«open» sign. ATMOSPHERE: The open-air hut has a gravel/dirt floor. The food is served out of hot trays on one side with table seating for about 15 on the other side, along with a separate gazebo off to the side which can seat about 6 comfortably. The ambiance is very relaxing and peaceful. Very clean and no insect problem. MENU: Chicken, pork, shrimp, fish. FOOD: BBQ Pork — $ 10 bought me a nice portion of tender pork. The pork wasn’t seasoned much and relied mainly on the drizzled-over BBQ sauce for flavor, something I’m not a fan of. I like barbecued meats that are marinated. The single scoop of rice was a little mushy which is better than dried out, and the macaroni-pea salad was a bit thin and runny; not the best I’ve had but definitely not the worst either. RESERVATIONS: Definitely not taken as it’s a food stand with seating. SERVICE: The owner Troy was very friendly, welcoming, and professional. He was serving and cashing. Ditto for the the lady working with him, I’m assuming is his wife. TIP: Cash only. OVERALL: Decent food, good portion sizes, nice ambiance, great service.

The first thing I’ll note is that things in the Hana area close up after the daytrippers leave. That’s how we ended up at Troy’s. There is actually a chef, Troy, but he only cooks twice a week. Other days it’s a roasted chicken stand manned by different families in the area. The night we were there we had curried hamburgers, which were pretty good. The place was full of people who live in the area, and we got some different perspectives on the place. We went back for lunch the next day, and the beach, which is a red sand beach and not all that safe for swimming, is stunning. The view is enough of a reason to go!

Troy is super sweet, easy to joke around with and his food is pretty good too. If you’ve googled for restaurants in Hana, you’ll realize there aren’t a lot of choices — that being said he makes tasty food that is affordable that you can eat literally sitting next to crashing waves. I had the katsu chicken today and the coconut shrimp yesterday(both with a tamarind ketchup sauce) and enjoyed them both immensely. My husband had the Korean bbq chicken and loved it. Both of our dishes came with the option of a macaroni salad or green salad & white or brown rice. I didn’t find my dishes to be greasy even though they were obviously fried. We both got an Aloha Maid Passion Orange Juice, which is only 6% juice but 100% tasty. This is our second trip to Hana and we’ve eaten at Troy’s both times, and we will do so again in the future whenever he is open.

There are not a lot of great food options in hana but this place is awesome! Great mixed plates with chicken, pork, and fish options. Get here early because they do run out of food later in the day! All good local stuff and a place to eat in the shade!

I would give one star however troy himself was very friendly. Such a nice man and all smiles not to mention an absolutely BEAUTIFUL location!!! We were starving when we finally got to the place because we had been driving for so long and we almost stopped at the bbq place just before here but we had seen the signs for troys from way back promising shrimp tacos and we wanted to wait. We were sadly mistaken because there were no tacos at all! Instead a plate of food. Which didnt seem so bad at first but there was really nothing special about the food in the end. The shrimp was more breading than anything else and the macaroni salad tasted store bought. Again i do feel bad about the negative review but even when i was starving the food was just not all that great.

This place was one of if not our favorite in the time where stayed in Hana. Troy’s Mac salad was the best and the meat options were all onolicious! He’s only there Th and Sat, so make sure you go on those days, so good!

Great local food. Troy himself served us BBQ pork, brown rice and tossed salad. We were particularly lucky to get to enjoy our meal in a sweet hut off to the side of his restaurant area.

I’m not sure what to say about Troy’s in terms of hours or even an exact address, but if you drive south of Hana a bit, you’ll see signs for it — go to Koki Beach and you will not miss it. Troy’s may have very limited hours, I’m not sure. But, my partner and I recently dined there for lunch. It was a Saturday. The food was amazing — excellent plate lunch with ginger in the rice and a bit of sweetness to the mac salad. The chicken katsu and BBQ pork were awesome! And the view couldn’t be better. Troy himself was very friendly and provided great service. Be prepared: This isn’t a restaurant, just a man with some warming trays of food he brings to the shelter next to the beach. But it is a blast to eat there. $ 22 for two large plates, which I thought was fair, given that we were in a pretty remote part of the world.
