No stars! Seriously, we walked out because the service was atrocious. We have been here 45 minutes, no one else is here and still haven’t been able to order.

This is our third year vacationing on Hilton Head. We stopped by the Hilton Head Brewery the first two years and were ambivalent about the service, beers and ambiance. We stopped by again this year and found that they did not have a wide enough variety of beers to satisfy our palates. The place was empty when we walked in the doors and the server, while being pleasant, was unable to offer us a choice of their brews or other brews. We walked on through and went to the Lodge where they had a wide variety of brews both local and nation wide. Being from Michigan where craft breweries are growing exponentially we were disappointed. We stopped at the River Dog on the way down and went to the Salt Marsh brewery in Bluffton. Both had great brews available. I would not waste my time stopping by the Hilton Head Brewery.

This place was delicious! We came in off season so it wasn’t busy at all. I didn’t care for the microbrews at all but I’m not a beer connoisseur! My husband enjoyed the Tropical beer and the Pimpkin. We had all of their microbrews in a flight. We both ordered the Ultimate Bacon Burger and oh my gosh it was bacon heaven! We ordered a side of creamy BBQ(which it was explained to us as ranch + BBQ) and it totally made the burger even better. Our server was Antoine and he was extremely helpful and got us everything we needed :)

Best wings in town! Wash it down with a flight of beers … The porter and tropical lager were the best! Your welcome!

This place should be shut down. Beer taste like sh**. Fried chicken was raw. Service was VERY poor(took 15 min to get our beer). The place was practically empty and we were not given any attention. Floor was dirty. No toilet paper in women’s restroom. Need I say more???

We went here for dinner because we had a coupon. We have eaten here before but it’s been a long time. No particular reason why we haven’t been back but there are so many restaurants here in Hilton Head that it’s possible to not return to some for years. The restaurant is located in Reilly’s Plaza. There are a bunch of restaurants here. The parking lot was full but when we got inside the restaurant it was obvious everyone was eating at one of the other restaurants. The place was pretty empty. We got there early enough to take advantage of their happy hour beer special but you had to get Bud or Miller. Who goes to a brew pub and orders that crap? We ordered their Octoberfest beer. It was good. Later on I tried one called Pipkin. It had a cinnamon flavor. It was also good. Our waiter was Antoine. He was very friendly. He spent a lot of time chatting with us. Since the place was empty he didn’t have much else to do. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger. My wife got the buffalo chicken wrap. My cheeseburger was good. However, my wife’s buffalo chicken wrap somehow was made without buffalo sauce. Not sure how you forget to put the buffalo sauce on a buffalo chicken wrap. We told Antoine and he apologized and brought out some buffalo sauce on the side. My wife said it wasn’t that good and ate her wrap without it. When we went to pay my wife asked Antoine if we could use the buy one get one free coupon we had. He said«sure». However, the manager came over and tried to explain to us that it was supposed to be for entrees, not sandwiches. We told him we had asked and were told that we could use the coupon. We expected an argument but the manager said ok. That was nice of him. Bottom line– the food was good, but nothing special. The kitchen made a mistake on my wife’s order. Our waiter Antoine was very nice. In the summer when the place is packed it’s probably a great place but when it’s empty at dinner time it’s kinda sad.

Great beers, flights available, decently priced merchandise. Took a star off for the disengaged bartenders and staff. Both man and woman stood on their phones the whole time and it was hard to get their attention without feeling you were interrupting their texting.

Ate here for dinner and enjoyed all we ordered. Pepperoni pizza for the kids, hubby had the southwest chicken wrap, I had the boom wrap. Also had the bar fries appetizer. Everything was delicious. Tried the flight so we could sample all the microbrews. We actually didn’t care much for any of them. But I did enjoy the South Beach something or other ;)

I have to agree the beer needs work. Nothing on the flight inspired us to have a pint… but they did a lot of fruit, and tropical beers are not my jam. I like a straight-up workhorse of a beer. I have seen lots of criticism of the food. I think it is hit or miss. Wasn’t crazy about the artichoke dip, but I had the best piece of grouper I ate all week — heck, the best piece of fish I ate all week. And service was adequate… not stellar, but no complaints. My advice– get the fish and chips and an IPA. Hang out. You won’t need to wait an hour for a table… that in itself can be priceless.

One star is generous. Food was awful and overcooked. The kitchen«lost» our appetizer order, and my husband didn’t get his Cole slaw with his dinner. Waited forever for beer… had to ask for it. Our waitress ignored us completely. Horrible service, terrible food. Will not be back.

Service was so bad that we walked out!!! The people next to us walked out too. We ordered our kids food first and that came out quickly. After waiting an 1 ½ hours for our burgers we decided to leave. The only good thing was the beer. The restaurant was not busy at the time.

Food was decent but nothing to write home about. They were out of their only IPA when we visited. The burger was overcooked, the bun was too thick. The flatbread was not worth the cost. Happy hour had $ 6 fried green beans which were good but light on the portion side. They were also out of their she crab soup. When we asked the server about the soup, she described it as soup. Duh! Don’t order the flatbread. Not worth the price. There are many other places in the island that have way better food!

Don’t believe the bad reviews. The service was great. We were greeted immediately, the bartender was attentive, friendly and super helpful. Awesome food! We had a couple dozen raw oysters and wings. The food was served fast and hot. The wings were not over cooked and seasoned well. A+

Quality little bar. So many TVs you would never need to turn your head to see the game. Food was on par with decent pub food — fresh ingredients, green lettuce for burger, meat was cooked perfectly medium. Hand cut fries that were well seasoned. Came here on a Tuesday night — about 10 other folks here. A family of 4 playing pool, a couple at the bar(20’s), and an older couple eating dinner at a booth. Honestly, not sure what the folks with zero friends and a handful of reviews are talking about when they speak disparagingly about this place… It’s certainly not a «Brewery» — leave that expectation at home, come here and expect a sports bar(pool table, TVs, etc) and you won’t be disappointed. If you’re looking for a traditional brewery — complete with a tour of the brewery — that’s been moved down the road. No longer do they brew beer at this location. Nevertheless, I think it works for what we were looking for and our waitress Brittney was awesome — rockstar that made us feel welcome and at ease. She explained all of the beers really well and always had a smile on her face. That goes a long way… We had a flight of all of their HHBC beers on tap — here’s our account of each of the varieties we sampled… Order of beers: Session IPA IPA Hefe Porter Tropical Lager DIPA Porter was lighter, not as thick as some porters. Matt says its a «fuggin tasty» beer. Session IPA — not your traditional ipa. Fruitier, not very hoppy. Mango taste. Light. Easy to drink. Regular IPA — heavier beer than session ipa. Same flavor profile. Feels to have a bit more hop kick than session.(Akin to corona vs corona light) Hefe — tastes like a hefe. Nothing to make it stand out. No overt citrus notes. Tropical lager — was the one I was looking forward to the most, but it ended up letting me down a bit. Tasted like a less jazzed up version of the session ipa. Same flavors. Like a flat version of the session ipa. DIPA — the hoppiest of them all. Least favorite of hoppy beers. Might have tasted better if it was colder, but it was slightly warm as it was our last one to try.

Note: we were very reluctant to give this a try due to the reviews. But it was pouring down rain on a Saturday and there wasn’t much else to do. The brewery is under new management(no more extract beer). We didn’t eat, but sampled three beers at the restaurant. All were good, and we have pretty high standards. They’ve also opened a separate tasting room with more beers down the road. The tasting room was great — good selection, friendly staff, nice space. Definitely recommend for beer lovers looking to try local libations. The staff acknowledged the bad reviews and said they’re really trying to turn things around. I recommend giving them a shot!

Yikes! Stay away. We went to this place, expecting decent beer and a cool vibe… it’s a brewery after all? Should have known, when we saw the empty parking lot. The bartender was nice enough, but the beer is terrible. The«red» is not, in fact, red… and the other beers were equally bad. To top it off, the bar was CRAWLING with fruit flies. The bartender, while sweet, made no effort to apologize or try to get rid of them– he just read his little book and piddled around until our beers were quite empty. We paid and got the heck out of there! Stay away!

My wife and I were glad to leave the kids with their grandparents for lunch one day during our recent vacation on Hilton Head Island. We rode our rented bikes from our condo near Coligny Circle toward The Lodge Beer & Burger Bar but soon realized they were not open for lunch. We spotted the nearby Hilton Head Brewing Company and decided to give it a try instead. I was surprised to have never heard anything about this place before, especially after realizing that they have been making beer for twenty years. On tap was a double IPA in celebration of their 20th anniversary, which I ordered, along with three other of their own brews and a handful from other breweries. The double IPA was actually pretty good, not one of my favorites, but it was definitely good enough to drink another glass. My wife enjoyed their Burning Man Red Ale, which was much darker than expected and seemed to be more of a porter. It was actually pretty good but not true to style at all. The beers rotate seasonally but at best I think a half-dozen are offered at a time. We wife ordered the blackened grouper sandwich, which surprisingly came with no toppings, but was served with hand cut fries($ 10). The fish was cooked well but the sandwich overall felt too dry in the mouth and needed something extra added to it, such as tartar sauce that my wife requested. I went with the brew pub BLT with fried green tomatoes, applewood smoked bacon, and crisp romaine leaves, also served with fries($ 8.50). I remembered a similar sandwich that I had last year at the nearby A Lowcountry Backyard, but unfortunately this was nowhere close to being as good. Like my wife’s grouper, this sandwich was served dry, but even a little added mayonnaise couldn’t have helped with the stale and over-toasted bread. The tomatoes themselves were pretty good, but that alone could not save the sandwich. The Hilton Head Brewing Company is not a bad place for a beer or two, but the food was below average. With so many other great places to eat, I doubt I will be back unless it is for a quick afternoon drink.

The only reason this place stays open is because of overflow from the surrounding businesses. Is it good for Food– NO Is it good for Beer– NO Do not waste a precious night in paradise at this dump. Chow Daddy’s is just across Pope Ave. and is worth your time and money. Run away from HHBC as fast as possible.

Like a lot of businesses in this area, its a little tucked back off the beaten path. Fully accessible(and fine to park, too) yet away in a pleasant environment off the main strip. It was a pleasant visit here, while stopping In to try some beer. I had the stout and IPA. While they didn’t blow my skirt up, they weren’t bad. As a brewery /beer lover and inspector, I’d bet that there are some folks that love them. If I could make the IPA a little more IPA, or beef up the stout a little, I would probably be singing holy praise of this place from the rooftops. The staff was pleasant, facility was open /spacious, with some brewing paraphernalia in site. Clean, and the small local crowd seemed pleasant. Chatted it up with some nice folks while enjoying. I didn’t eat here, but saw some food i would certainly try were a meal deemed necessary at This point in the day.
