Classic bar-game where you ring the boar, along with the(usually) non-crowded pub makes it my favorite local spot. Nice and alert bartenders /solid prices. Unfortunately, when it does get crowded, it becomes impossible to slip by the tight bar area.

I really like the look of this place: exposed brick and chandeliers make it feel snazzy, but the beer is inexpensive(especially for the area: I paid $ 6 for my Allagash White). On the weekend this place gets pretty full and definitely attracts the hipster crowd, additionally, the music is deafening. You’ll be lucky to catch every sixth word of the person standing right next to you. And it goes without saying that parking is a pain in the area. Overall this place is okay, but there are definitely less crowded bars in the area. Maybe check this out on a weeknight when it should be less crowded.

Walked in to the Blue Boar thinking it was the next door lounge… then decided to stay and have a couple drinks for happy hour… weirdly I wanted a margarita in a British pub… the bartender was so cool he offered to make the margarita with a happy hour price even though it’s not on the happy hour menu… he made it sooooo strong, but it was a good one and I barely could finish it… the hot wings were ok… but the crisps were seasoned so yummy that we ordered another order of them… if you are looking for a good drink and crisps(super thin french fries)… this is your place… it is intimate… and got crowded as we were leaving… it is loud but what self-respecting pub isn’t

I don’t know what happened to this place, they seemed to have gone down hill. Last night I brought my boyfriend in to have a quick drink before watching Book of Mormon and was really disappointed. We approached the bartender(who was friendly) and he said what will it be? I asked for a menu knowing that they usually have one of their specialty drinks and he said, well we don’t have one… do you want a beer?. I mentioned the cranky butler since I had been raving about it for years and really wanted to have my boyfriend try it… but he said, oh ya… we don’t have the stuff to make it sorry. He then handed me a menu but said they don’t have any of those items. He didn’t really offer up any other help than again offering beer so we decided to leave. Super sad cause this was one of my favorite places to go.

Absolutely great. Loud. Friendly. Beer! And, ‘Ring the Board’, brilliant bar game. How have I never seen this before. Taking this one back to the city. I really liked this place, friendly, if obnoxiously loud clientele, good music, fun atmosphere, I’d be back for a beer for sure. Maybe $ 5 – 6 a pour for draft. Thanks for listening!

Cool little bar with great choices to drink. I really enjoy coming here, and the bartenders are cool too.

We had some food and drinks at The Blue Boar yesterday during the Super Bowl™ and it was the perfect spot. The bartenders were super friendly and excited to talk the finer points of beer and booze with us. Their Brussels Sprouts are top notch and the wings were solid as well. My girlfriend loved her chicken sandwich. Although the beer selection isn’t over-the-top huge, it’s really well chosen and should cover most people’s needs. The Rince Cochon on tap is fantastic!

This place does not even warrant one star. I walked in with a big group of friends Sunday, 02÷02÷14 @ 9:30pm and the bartender could have not been MORERUDE!!! I understand that he might have not been ready to take on a group. He has lost you a Good Sunday night crowd. We made a reservation for 30 people that was confirmed by their management, but when we arrived the bartender seemed to disregard the reservation. I have just read other Unilocal reviews for this place and if it’s the same bartender they are talking about, he needs to be FIRED!!! I hope this bartender tonight is the owner, because he could care less about his business. Sorry for this review and I have never written one before, but tonight’s experience at your place deserved it.

Decent prices, good specials. Strong mixed drinks. And they have the hook game! Which is a blast from my college days past. Except, it is surrounded by windows which makes me wonder how many cracked windows they’ve had to deal with. It’s a Hallway Bar(narrow). There weren’t many people when I went(on a Tuesday around 10), so it was perfect. But I can see it getting a bit claustrophobic on a busy night. Music wasn’t loud when I went. The rest of the atmosphere is wonderful.

Tucked away bar in Hollywood that makes a pretty decent cocktail and doesn’t make you wait 30 minutes for service — meh, I’d say that’s pretty good. Plus their unpretentious British pub atmosphere mixed with a decent indie playlist makes it a fun place to chill with your date. While their draft selection is lacking and their bartenders aren’t the best, it’s just off the touristy part of the Hollywood strip, so what do you expect? Miracles? Besides that, these bartenders are serving straight classics instead of running amuck with clever names and bad combinations of Bols and bitters. Besides that, there’s darts upstairs. And that’s pretty cool.

Hands down. .Old.Fashioned. EVER! The rum soaked black cherry alone… man oh man! Loved playing darts in the loft. Loved the small, dark, cool, vibe. Dying to go back.

This has all the makings for a good pub… if it wasn’t for better ones around. The Blue Bore Pub, is a better name for it. My pal and I were the only ones there for the happy hour. Sports pub? I want to laugh. 2 big screens on, but that’s it. When I asked for the baseball game, I was told baseball was boring. Huh. What made it worse? No personality or effort was made by the bartender. Why go here as opposed to… there. No. No. No.

I’ve been here twice now. I was with a couple of friends and we were walking around after watching a show at the Hotel Café. My friend noticed people throwing a ring that was hanging from the ceiling, freaked out, and ran inside to start playing because he apparently has played it before in Vegas and hasn’t seen it anywhere else. Both times I’ve been here, it’s been pretty empty, which I kind of appreciate. The ambiance is a little dark, but very cozy. Also, the bartenders here are good and the drinks are decently priced. What gets me here, though, is the interactive crowd. Whether it’s sharing Ring the Boar techniques or just listening to a traveler from Australia rap Tupac to perfection, I totally dig the vibe and the people that hang here. Seems like a good place to be a «regular» at if you’re in the area.

Visited this pub yesterday to determine if it would be a good spot for an after hours business cocktail. Small place but nice relaxed environment with large flat screens to enjoy a sports game and a large variety of beers. The specialty drinks are all great too. My fave? Primm’s Cup! Needless to say, this is the spot I’ll be having the cocktail party at. Not too mention there are a few more bars near by so people can walk around if they like.

Hey can i get an electric lemonade? -«no» Oh, well can i just tell you whats in it? -«no» Ugh… why not? -«Because i’m not going to make anything i dont know» Um… okay can i get an adiós then? -«No, we don’t make that here» So… you don’t make tokyo teas? adiós? or hurricanes? -«Nope» Okay… So what can u make? -«well keep naming things and ill tell u if i can make it or not» Alright… can you do any shooters -«Sure what do u want» How about a liquid cocaine -«Nope we dont’ do that here and plus, we don’t have gold schlager or yager» So. ok ill just get a Guiness If your going to be a bartender, don’t give attitude to your customers. If you are only goin to make classic cocktails then you inform them. There could have been over 100 other classic cocktails i could have named if he would let me know that. Instead he wanted to be a dick about it.

For a pub in Hollywood — 4 stars easy. Located just down the street from Hollywood/Vine(aka douche-bar central or fancy clubs) the Blue Boar Pub was a refreshing experience for Tyler and I who were on one of our lately few and far between awesome date days where neither of us had to work. The Blue Boar markets itself as a British pub, but they have a large selection of beer and spirits from other countries too. I guess I walked in expecting to see Boddingtons, I also guess I should know better by now. It’s a small place, and I’m really glad it wasn’t crowded when we went. I don’t do well in crowds. The bartender(damn…totally forgot his name) was awesome in the sense that you could talk to him, and it wasn’t just meaningless jibber-jabber it was an actual conversatin. The busser kept our table clean and was also on top of his game, making sure to ask us if we were doing okay/needed anything and going above and beyond. Tyler and I both had the fish and chips, which were good — but nothing compared to Macs in Santa Barbara, or better yet any fish and chips you’d actually have in Britain. That is yet another thing I need to stop ordering, especially in Hollywood. Anyways, it was a fun night, we(especially I, being quite a lightweight) got quite a nice buzz on and enjoyed ourselves. Minus one star for shots being so damn expensive!($ 10).

First of all — super nice bartender. The bar has got a lot of character despite the fact it’s a new place — there IS a big blue boar head on the wall. Cocktails of all kinds, British beers on tap(Newcastle, Old Speckled Hen, London Pride), no bottle beer, only 2 house wines(red and white) and a short list of British and American pub food. TVs ruin the charm/confuse the British pub vibe. Fun games — darts, ring the boar. Parking — try a nearby lot($ 10) or hunt for meters/hour. Fun bar — great for simple gatherings with a few friends. We reserved the upstairs for a birthday party and it worked out really well.

I’m not a drinker but I came with some friends before hitting up a club down the street. My friends seemed to really enjoy the drinks. It’s a bit on the pricey side I think. $ 3 or $ 4 for soda for the DD and $ 10 each for each drink. The service is great. The bartender was friendly and the manager Van came up to us and chatted with us for a little bit. My friends and I enjoyed this game they have in the corner of the pub. They have a metal ring hanging on a rope and you try to knock or hook the ring to the metal horn of a boar that’s hanging against the wall. I got pretty good toward the end of the night. All in all, fun and casual place to chill with friends.

Drinks are $ 10, not too bad for Hollywood! Bartender makes the drinks as a painter creates a masterpiece. Drinks are tasty and make you feel like you’re in London. I had the Pimm’s Cup. Brings me back to my summer spent in England. I loved the décor — everything was British; framed pictures of The Beatles, that red telephone booth by Big Ben, etc etc. My friends had The Beckham and Strawberry Fields(even the drinks are cutely named!). They enjoyed their drinks. The Beckham was quite strong. Strawberry Fields was sweet and creamy though it didn’t look creamy at all. Didn’t taste like there was any alcohol in it, but I’m sure there was some!
