One of the best dinner dates I’ve ever had was at Truluck’s. Everything was amazing. The rock shrimp and crab cakes are a must have. They were delicious and cooked perfectly. The service is also superb. This restaurant is definitely on my list for when I return to Houston.

We had my Daughters Graduation Party here in The Hemingway Room. From the time we walked in and 5 hours later, Everything was Perfect !!! From the appateizers to the Baked Alaska, everything was perfect. Dave Mattern and his crew went over and above and made this one of the most Enjoyable Evenings we have had. If you need a Great Place to Host a Party or Corporate Event, Look up Dave Mattern, GM at Truluck’s Seafood and Steaks at 5350 Westheimer. Great Job Guys, Thanks Again…

My husband and I visited on our Anniversary. It was our 1st time here and we were excited. Our waiter however was not as excited to see us. He was very quick(rushing) to explain the entrees and sides before we even ordered appetizers. He wasn’t pleasant at all. Our food was great. Hands down some of the best seafood in Houston. Pros: crab cake Cons: he bagged up my leftovers and it looked like slop. The box was smeared on the outside with the sauce from my plate. He even threw In the skin that I had discarded to the side of my plate. Gross. He massacred my dessert by chopping it up and mixing it so much so that I couldn’t tell the ingredients apart. I freaked! He stopped! Probably will not go back.

The Ambience inside, makes one feel special, professional prompt valet service, attractive and courteous wait staff, an unexpected visit to the table from the Maitre D” introducing himself extending a warm welcome, exquisite food menu, delicious wine by the glass or bottle, live music from featured entertainers, nightly, open M-F. If you have not been here before, I strongly suggest you put this place on the top of your must do list… Awesome!!!

Boyfriend and I have been craving sea foods for weeks already. He suggested Trulucks, we are both first timers and we both enjoy the night. Service — welcoming and efficient. Staffs are friendly, warm, and energetic. Food– Everything was delicious especially Striped Bass(Pan-seared and topped with dynamite sauce, lobster, crab and shrimp. Served with warm sushi rice) and Miso-Glazed Seabass meaty texture and rich in flavor. Very expensive meal, but we get what we paid for. Worth all the penny. Delish!

Man; It took me 3 months to get in here, because all you can eat stone crab claws are worth the wait! Mind you I made reservations but it was hard to keep my reservations! But I decided to wing it and come over here straight from work! The wait was until 8:30 but the manager Oliver found an on line reservation had canceled! ! So I am in, best freshest crab I have ever tasted! ! All you can eat, one side and your choice of soup or salad. I got the lobster bisque! Please, if you ever have an extra 79.00 dollars laying around, Trulucks is the place to be from October 15th until May 15th every Monday of the month after 5 Pm. Mr.Miles was, my server, and he was awesome!

Great service. Cool ambience. Delicious dishes. My fav are the oysters. Oh so fresh and mouthwateringly succulent. I’d definitely come back for them… and try other interesting things on the menu of course.

This review is mainly about the service we experienced. Having a background in fine dining, I would never be insulted or feel discouraged if a group came in for apps and drinks. Our server was nice in the beginning when we ordered about 2 rounds of drinks. After he did his spiel on the special items, we informed him we were there only for cocktails and apps. He seemed so shocked that we weren’t ordering a 3 course meal. Maybe I should have informed the hostess that we were there for drinks and apps, who would have known where they’d seat us. As the night went on, he barely came to check on us. We had to keep waiving down another server who eventually waited on us for the most part. Managers seemed friendly as they kept coming by to ask if everything was ok. Whether we ordered a full course meal or not, service should be on point for a fine dining restaurant. Either way, we racked up the bill and still tipped 20% regardless of our weird experience. The main apps we ordered was the seafood platter that comes with the oysters, stone crab and crab mix and of course it was great. Who wouldn’t love a cold seafood platter! Calamari was on point as well. Overall, food is amazing, but the review was strictly for service that night. I’ve been here a few times already and will still continue to come.

Updated: tried their best known crab claw platter and was quiet disappointed. My expectations were higher since this is their expertise. The crabs didn’t taste fresh or juicy to me. Also tried jalapeño margarita and that was no bueno. This drink has so much potential but I think they didn’t prepare it right. The ratio between the jalepeno and the margarita was off.

Truluck’s is such a cool and classy place. It’s a multidimensional restaurant. I’ve been here on first dates, for meetings, for dinner. It doesn’t disappoint. Food is top notch and so is the service. This restaurant has been around for some time, but I only started going here after I went with one of my girlfriends about 2 years ago and I’ve been hooked since then. The seafood is so tasty and they have the best crab. Try calling ahead for a reservation and book one of the booths. Be prepared to spend a lot of money. This place is not cheap. Stay classy, Houston.

Must try the crab, melts in your mouth. Hubby and I went here to celebrate our 10 year wedding anniversary after several referrals. I wanted to try everything but knew I couldn’t. Had a crab, crab cake(one enough for two to share) hubby had the prime rib-eye and i had the surf and turf(beef filet w/lobster) I added a crab topping to my steak(see pic). We also had the crab mac and cheese. I took one bite of our main course and was too full to eat the rest. Enjoyed the left overs for lunch We enjoyed every bite and service was excellent. I’m just mad that I over ate appetizers and bread that got too full to enjoy the main course. I also over did it with crab on everything I ordered. Can’t wait to go back

Overall high quality food paired with poor kitchen issues and clueless management. 4 strikes for our $ 250 lunch. We ordered 4 steaks, the business lunch 7 oz filet. We each had a different special request, no mushrooms, no butter, mushrooms on the side, rare, medium rare, etc. Our server wrote everything down, put in our order and came back a couple minutes later and double checked too. She was spot on as she recited each of our orders, so it wasn’t our waiter. When the food came out 3 of our steaks came out wrong. Looks like someone got confused. I sent mine back as I asked for med-rare, no butter and got blue instead(look it up). They had the MANAGER come give me my food and it was STILL wrong. At this point my colleagues were already half way through their meals. I said it was fine even though as I cut it front of the manager, it was clearly overcooked. You could tell they just threw the steak they gave me back on to the grill. I just wanted to eat and hesitantly accepted. I will give them this: the steak quality was excellent as even though it was overcooked and past well done, it was still very tender given the gross oversight. Lastly, I asked for no butter. They may not have cooked it with butter, but that doesn’t mean you can cook the mushrooms that go on top in butter. For the price, asking to customize your steak shouldn’t be such an issue and some logic /reasoning by the chefs should have been inferred when the request came through for no butter. No butter means no butter anywhere on my plate, not just my steak. I could be wrong and they used an amazing olive oil, and if thats the case, thats some damn good olive oil. Hook me up.

Truluck’s was where my boyfriend and I went to celebrate our first anniversary. The ambience is really nice, and service is great all around. For starters, we ordered the Jumbo lump crab cake, which was amazing and literally all crab(very little breading) — and huge pieces too! Moving on to main course, I looooove Chilean sea bass, so I ordered their Miso-glazed sea bass. It came over a bed of crab fried rice and topped with a cucumber/carrot slaw. The flavors and texture were everything I expected on the fish. The only thing I could’ve done without, was the slaw– I just didn’t think there was any need for the pickled veggies. My boyfriend had the Redfish pontchartrain, which came topped with crawfish, shimp, crab and a creole sauce. Yum! And for our anniversary, we were given a chocolate cake that was flambéed in front of us.

I’m not sure if it was the time I got there but their service was horrendous… Our waiter was evidently more interested in attending to his larger tables which, if you do the math, means higher tip. I mean strategy is cool and everything but when the busser/runner has to clear your table because empty plates and cutlery is just hanging around I think it’s evident that you(the assigned waiter) wasn’t really paying much attention. Looked at us leave when all was said and done and didn’t even have the courtesy to say«goodnight» or «hope everything was ok». The food left much to be desired– I mean, for the price you do expect something a little above average. If you go to Pappadeaux you’re likely to get the same tasting food, just my opinion. I had the Alaskan king crab, and the mashed potato was to die for — the crab… pleasantly ok but not worth 69 bucks. For someone who goes out to dine every now and then, prolly a cool experience. For someone who eats out at least 5 days a week a total disappointment.

Truluck’s was one of my fave places to eat, especially for their power hour lunch. However, my dining group and I went there last night & the experience was just mediocre. We had about 23 people at 3 different tables and our waitress seemed like she would rather have been elsewhere. I’m a sucker for good service & Truluck’s normally delivers, but last night I was not impressed. The food: Most of my group ordered crab or a fish dish which looked yummy! However, my crab cake was overcooked and the wilted spinach was gross. Everyone who ordered it left it in the table. The creamed spinach was a hit though, and so was the creamed corn and crab fried rice.

I checked out Truluck’s for the first time for happy hour with my boss. Truluck’s is a fancy seafood restaurant, known for their grab, in the Galleria area. The parking lot is mostly valet but there are some self-parking spots in the lot if you get lucky as well. The happy hour is pretty extensive with cocktails being 50% off and lots of additional specials on beer and wine. There are also several appetizers on special and I ended up trying the shrimp cocktail and the calamari. The shrimp cocktail came out with dry ice I believe(smoke was encircling the shrimp) which was quite the presentation. I don’t really feel like you can screw up a shrimp cocktail but the shrimp were large so that was a plus. The calamari was a large dish with a good amount of calamari and various veggies served with two dipping sauces. No standard marinara: you had a sweet Asian-style sauce and I couldn’t tell you what the second one was. Great happy hour and a good place for a fancy dinner. The crowd was a bit older, I was definitely the youngest person there.

Ok this place is a must go! Started my night with complementary valet, with the nicest most respectful valet attendants. As I walked in I was greeted by the hosts, also very nice by complimenting my beauty(lol not that it matter but everyone likes a little ego stroke) After being seated our waiter comes over with a custom Truluck’s bottle of water that stays on the table. Beautiful little fancy bottle lol. The waiter and his«assistant» was very knowledgeable on everything. From wine, to cocktails, food and more, he even brought me a wine to sample. I ended up going with the lemon drop martini… goooood lawd that was the best lemon drop I have ever had(besides my own)! For food I ordered a ceasar salad with extra cheese, and the don’t use the shredded cheese, they use a sliced block cheese, idk but it taste great. For my entrée I had the fried shrimp and crab mac and cheese. Let me just say best fried shrimp I have had in a long time. The mac and cheese was delicious as well, a lot of crab in it. To end my food exploration I got the key lime pie, because I am on a quest to see if anyone has a better keylime pie than J. Alexanders… They don’t but it wasn’t bad. Kind of tasted like a keylime cheesecake. It was different. So Overall I loved this place, the ambiance was all sexy and what not. Well lit but still dim, sophisticated crowd, decent noise level. Will be back! Great Food, Great Service, and Great Job Truluck’s!

I will admit that I probably did not get the thing I should have on the menu, which is crabs. I don’t quite know why, but I wanted a pork chop. — LARGEPORTION, LOWQUALITYPORK. This was not any degree of high quality pork, this was the kind of pork you would buy in an isle at Aldi. Flavorless. Just not not tasty at all. Sure, they could have probably tried to cover up the lack of flavor with spices, but that wouldn’t fool many. Now, I understand that pork is not necessarily this restaurant’s specialty, but if you are putting it on the menu and price a pork chop at almost $ 30, make it good. This is not Cheesecake Factory with hundreds of mediocre items on the menu. I go here for good food. — LIVEMUSIC. Absolutely loved the live music, the ambiance is without a question phenomenal here. — CATERSTO «LETSENJOYTHEFINERTHINGSINLIFE» AUDIENCE. Classic, elegant, lots of Porsches, Ferrari’s and eye candy cars parked outside. Great service as well. Expect a bill of $ 70 — $ 90 before alcohol if you are eating seafood.

I came here for lunch a few weeks ago with a buddy of mine. We ordered the oysters Rockefeller to start and I also ordered a large stone crab claw. Both were great starters and everything I’d of wanted out of fresh seafood. I ordered the lobster roll for lunch which was better than I expected. It was very fresh with fresh herbs and a light dressing. It came with a generous serving of french fries the perfect combo. I think we also got mini cupcakes for dessert which were on the dry side. But the other desserts the other table ordered looked very grand and sweet. I’d definitely like to come back and try other items.
