I took my two children here because it was the closest Optical place to our home and they needed eye exams for school. It was my eldest’s first eye exam, but my younger child has had glasses for a couple years now so it wasn’t her first time. My eldest went first, and(I thought) due to is special needs it was not a smooth exam. It took a long time, and was very frustrating to my son and, apparently, the eye dr. Eventually they did get through it, though, and I expected a much easier process for my daughter. It wasn’t. I really got the feeling that the dr. didn’t either have much experience with children, or that he didn’t really know how to work with kids in general. It also didn’t help that he kept having to make my kids repeat themselves repeatedly. The staff was competent, but very cursory. They were polite, but didn’t show any attempt to stand out. I was most disappointed when we picked up the glasses. Their ‘fitting’ of the glasses consisted of putting the glasses on my children and saying«there you go.» The lady we worked with was very considerate and nice about getting my kids glasses cases in their favourite colours, but did absolutely nothing to make sure that the glasses fit well. Turns out, the glasses did NOT fit well. I spent the next several days trying to adjust the temples and nose pads to get the glasses to sit well on their faces, with mixed results. Six days after we got the glasses, they fell off my daughter’s face — again — and were stepped on at school because they simply did not fit well on her. I won’t tell anyone *not* to go to Jamie Rose Eyewear, but if someone asked me I wouldn’t recommend them, either. I just got the general feeling of not caring from them through our experience.

Jamie Rose Optical is an adorable eyeglass store that has a Fabulous selection of eyewear. They test you’re eyes, offer different kinds of contact lenses and take All insurances. Iv been a client here as well as my children for over 12 years. The sales people are not pushy and everything is incredibly clean. I’m very happy here and I love that they work with you if you have to leave a deposit. They also have never had a problem putting lenses in eyeglasses that I have brought in. Jamie is the owner and he is always in! It’s a Neighborhood feel and All are welcome.

I have been going there for about 7 years since I left Manhattan and this place is the closest. I find the quality of the glasses and service to be top notch, better than the place that was across the street from where I worked in NYC. The pair I just got fit like a glove, the visual quality is great and I have a high bifocal prescription to fill. I prefer a local place like this to a chain eyeglass place since I feel they have a higher bar to obtain.

Over priced. The only reason I go here is it’s convenient.

Got a pair of overpriced glasses 200.(With insurance voucher) After two weeks the arm of glasses came lose. When I went to get the arm tightened the woman at desk told me that I had to pay 2.50 to get it adjusted and they wouldn’t be responsible if the arm broke when they fixed itc. I told her I didn’t think a pair of glasses should need to be tightened after two weeks she then said well it looks as though the arm was coming off and that they may have been«sat» on. Which was not the case. I replied that I didn’t sit on them. I was very annoyed by her accusation but waited to get the arm tightened they then charged me 3.00. I will never purchase anything from them again!!! Overpriced and rude!!!

Little slow with getting my glasses in but once they were here I was happy. Everyone who helped was amazing. Took the time to make everything perfect with adjusting my frames and explaining everything about the lens to the frames. Very helpful.

Expensive! But I did not find the customer service as abysmal as other reviewers. I had a young lady name Sandra that attended me and she did not push to sell me stuff I did not want. I was a return customer but in hindsight, I probably would go elsewhere or should have shopped around some more. I only go there for the convenience. 1−21−16 I went there a week ago because my reading glasses lost a screw. I was told I had to leave my reading glasses because the«technician» was not in. When a business like this one needs a technician(whatever that means) to replace a screw(for crying ju loud) it tells me you don’t need my business. Seems to me this place is more about $$ than customer care. Disappointed they got my business in the first place and I am a repeat customer at that.

The jig is up JR. After years and years of purchasing my hard contacts from them, I found they were charging more than TRIPLE the cost as you can get them for online($ 300 vs. $ 90), and that cost didn’t include the eye exam! I know about overhead for a b&m, but triple? The owner even suggested I purchase«backup» lenses at this ridiculous cost! He really must feel his clientele are naïve. I was referred to a Dr. Nieder by their staff when I first called for a hard lens appointment/fitting. To my surprise and confusion, Dr. Nieder complained about my prescription being so complicated while examining and fitting me. I actually ended up with horrifically fitting lenses while being assured by Dr. Nieder they were the best available on the market for my eyes. Those lenses constantly popped out at the most inopportune times, in front of clients, at the beach, at dinner parties, while riding a motorcycle. Spending the entire day seeing out of only one eye was not fun, to say the least. The lenses caused severe redness, irritation, made my eyes tear all the time and just never performed. All normal and best available, I was repeatedly told by Dr. Nieder, year after year. I accepted this as gospel since a «doctor» was telling me and I just lived with them due to the superior vision of hard lenses over soft for my eye issues. I found out YEARS later, by accident, that Dr. Nieder was NOT the hard lens specialist at JR! I was flabbergasted. On my yearly appointment this time, I was referred to a different doctor, Dr. Wilde. It turns out Dr. Wilde had worked there all along and WAS their hard lens specialist but Dr. Nieder nor the staff never mentioned him! Dr. Wilde was surprised that Dr. Nieder had never referred me to him but more importantly that he fitted me with such ill-fitting lenses. In other words, instead of referring me to his associate, who was an expert in the type of lenses I needed, Dr. Nieder, not knowing anything about hard lenses, went ahead and guessed my prescriptions himself year after year, INCORRECTLY! Of course they fit terribly, the science is different! I wore(and over-paid!) for those horrible fitting lenses for years before stumbling across Dr. Wilde. Infuriating. JR’s sole star is actually earned by Dr. Wilde, a doctor who sadly is retired and no longer works there, but who was a caring professional, unconcerned with money and committed only to quality care and comfort of the patient, much to the chagrin of the owner! Dr. Wilde was an absolute gentleman every time I dealt with him and elevated the caliber of this place when he was there. However, it was uncomfortably clear on several occasions the owner at JR was not pleased with Dr. Wilde spending so much time with his patients! Dr. Wilde invested many visits and trials of different shapes, diameters and brands before finally fitting me with hard lenses that were light-years better fitting than what Dr. Nieder tortured my eyes with for so long. I could finally wear my lenses all day comfortably without them popping out and making my eyes blood-shot from irritation. It was satisfying and infuriating at once. Dr. Wilde even ordered one in b(L)ue and one in g®een to easily differentiate between the Left and Right lenses. Pretty clever I thought! I had not been presented with this option in some 28 years of going to eye professionals for my lenses! The owner had never heard about the Blue/Green thing when I mentioned it to him trying to give Dr. Wilde props, yet on a future visit he tried to take full credit for the idea stating it was standard practice at Jamie Rose. Dr. Wilde also called me, his patient, several times, during the fitting process to check how it was going! Another unprecedented experience in 28 years of going to eye doctors! I had never received a follow-up call from a doctor, in any field! He will be greatly missed. JR even went as far as giving me the run-around when I asked for my prescription so I could order my lenses online, which they are legally bound to release to the patient, no questions asked. It required several days and many, many calls to actually get them to issue it to me, including calls from the online retailer. I received every excuse in the book: their fax was down, their internet was down, their computer wasn’t working, the online lenses would be inferior, the materials would be different, the vision would be compromised, etc. Quite underhanded. One star overall is actually quite generous for this place considering everything. They can thank Dr. Wilde. Do you notice the string of one-star ratings? It’s not coincidental.

Over-priced for the quality of frames and service with an attitude… take one, drop-off was nasty, pickup was dismissive. First and last time. Gave it a try because it was local. Take a drive elsewhere. Glasses were literally made like crap! The end.

No way should you go to this place. The service is criminal. Once I received my hugely overpriced pair of glasses, I was given the thickest cheapest set of lenses available. I didn’t know anything about lenses but I knew these were garbage. When I asked to have them redone, they made me wait 3 weeks for the set. Then when the set came back, the prescription wasn’t right. Had to wait another 3 weeks for glasses that were, in the end, still cheap looking, very expensive, and not well crafted. I could see the owner’s smirk as if he was teaching me a lesson not to complain.

I have been getting my glasses from Jamie Rose for about 12 years now. I have always had great customer service and they don’t rush you. They take their time with you especially when you’re having difficulty selecting your frames. Christina is the best. She is very helpful and friendly. I have sent many of my friends here and they all were satisfied with the service that they received.

We went here about 2 years ago to get my husband’s eyes checked. Paid about $ 450 for ONE pair of prescription Oakley glasses… and $ 25 dollars for a crummy no name case. It took me this long to write a review because last weekend we went to Lenscrafters in Kings Plaza Mall, got great customer service, our glasses were ready in 2 hours and we paid only $ 380 for TWO pairs of Oakley glasses with the manufacture issued case… What were they doing with our cases in Jamie Rose??? Selling them apart from the actual frames for more money… Stuart Paul in Mill Basin Brooklyn work under the same work ethic as Jamie Rose. One woman from Stewart Paul was working at Jamie Rose. I went to SP about 7 months before and paid $ 389 for a pair of no name glasses with no case… Stay away from places like these… Pun intended when I say: THEYAREROBBINGYOUBLIND!

I’m going to revise my review a bit after coming back to this place recently. My first review was based on my experience 3 years ago. Last week hubby and I went to get a checkup and just update our lenses, no new glasses. The receptionist was very helpful with everything. The exam was fine and they called within 4 days to tell us our lenses were done. Today we went back to get our lenses put in. The receptionist had already made sure that our stuff was ready when we spoke a few days before. All we were going to do was have new lenses put into frames we already had so we were going to wait around in the place while it was done. As soon as we walked in and the receptionist told the person who actually works with the customers on their glasses, she said«no they’re not ready» without even looking in the back. I was turned off immediately by her dismissive attitude. Luckily the receptionist insisted we were ready(since she had already checked) and we proceeded to wait an hour for our glasses(which was fine btw). As we waited I watched the sales people ignore customers, not know correct information about insurance coverage, and(my favorite) one sales lady sit with someone who she obviously knew and talk about everything under the sun, while customers were waiting around to be assisted.(She«helped» this lady for 45 mins and probably way after we left the store). Watching all of this really turned me off to this place. I’m not a stickler for customer service but this place was just a bit too much. I’m a little torn because we had a good experience the first time and a fairly good one this time. I have to wait 2 years until I get new glasses so we will see if I make a trip back to Jaime Rose Eyewear.
