After a disappointing fish dinner at landrys in Kehma this weekend I was starving for some blackened fish. Just so happened I was working down the road from this place so I figured I’d try it. I ordered the blackened cat fish and dirty rice and was surprised! This little place on a corner in a strip center has better blackened fish than what I experienced at landrys! Oh, I’ll also suggest the hush puppies! They’re different but amazing. Service was top notch as well! Love these little places that shine.

Just had the blackened tilapia fish tacos — no flavor at all and a mound of lettuce with two large chunks of avocado. My wife had the same dish with snapper and it was the exact same. The boudin balls we ordered had no taste. The only thing good was the gumbo and etoufee and the banana pudding. Not worth the 65bucks it cost us. Im bummed out, the people there seemed nice but this was not worth it. Even the broccoli had no taste.

The atmosphere is nice. Décor is nice as well. The space is a touch small but wasn’t crowded so it was no problem. Not much to say about the kids meals. I got the pecan crusted salmon and dirty rice. It is good. Fish was cooked perfectly. I wish they had taken an extra moment to toast the pecans before putting them on the fish. It would have given them a better flavor and texture. The lemon butter sauce was outstanding on the fish. The dirty rice was ok but nothing to write home about. I think it would have benefitted from a bit more salt and pepper and maybe some more butter or oil. It was a tad dry. Still good though. Just could have been better. My daughter had the soft shell crab. It was good but way too greasy. The onion rings and boudin balls were good but would have been much better with some salt and maybe pepper. The batter was quite bland on both. The service was great. Our server Jackie was very attentive and friendly.

Best seafood in Atascocita! Fresh hot food. Great service. Must try. I had a black and bleu burger and it was out of this world. Everything that I’ve had so far has just been delicious!

Very good food! Had the grilled chicken tacos and sweet potato fries and it was perfect. They do charge for extra sides and are already on the pricey side. It’s a little understaffed, but was very pleased with food quality!

I’ve only been here once and that’s when I was pregnant and had the craving for catfish and shrimp. I got the combo plate to go and food served up quickly. At first look it appeared to be a lot of food but It was mostly fries. Fish and shrimp were very good. The fries on the other hand tasted like they were undercooked. I always look forward to fries when I have them so when i bit into one and saw that the potato texture inside was kind of hard that big tray of fries went in the trash. Normally I can get my husband to eat what I don’t want but even he passed these up. I ended up sending a pic of my food to a family member who decided to check them out for dinner later the same day and she opted for the onion rings instead. They were huge and looked like they were good but she said they tasted horrible. Not sure whats with simple sides going wrong.

We stopped on our way to Louisiana, and the location almost made me turn away. This is not a nice looking shopping center. But Fish Tales itself looked clean and well kept, so we went ahead and rolled the dice. I was really happy we did! Our waitress was just fantastic. She was fun, quick, and very helpful. I got the fish tacos on her recommendation, and let me just say, that’s a ton of food for 10 bucks. Three tacos, each with a full filet of catfish, plus cabbage, avocado, and a slightly spicy sauce. The tortillas were surprisingly good as well. Very satisfying meal. The catfish fillets are thick, crunchy on the outside and still glistening on the inside. Perfect. Hush puppies were perfect in every way. The french fries were homemade, which will win you points with me every single time. The only thing that wasn’t quite right was the fried shrimp, which tasted like it just had Zatairans’ batter on the outside, but they were gigantic and cooked properly, so good enough. It would also be nice to have a kid’s menu. Three filets and three shrimp, plus french fries, for a 7-year old is a bit much, but she was happy to take the rest to go for a snack later. The food was a big hit with her, too. Terrific staff here; I felt like a guest at someone’s home. Food came out very quickly, refills were always at hand, and prices were well within reason, especially with the portions. I’ll definitely come back next time I travel this way.

Over priced, bad service, and just not good quality food. Rather spend my hard earned money somewhere else.

Nothing special. Unfortunately, I really wanted to like this place. It is close to home, and I have heard the other Fish Tales locations are great. The waitress says it’s not the same. So there is hope. The fish was greasy and I found myself wiping my hands more than eating. If you want a tip, go to the Fish Place on Atascocita Rd, and spend half the money, for twice the quality of food. It was just Ok. Not awful, but I literally spent $ 50 on an appetizer, and two meals, that I could not even finish. The catfish was thin, and looked like it got beat with a baseball bat. The fried clams, tasted like Goodyear Radials, and the fried were cold. Not much else to say about it. Will NOT return. There is just much better seafood out there for that price. Disappointed!

Fast and friendly, with the best fresh fried oysters I’ve had since coming back to Texas six months ago. This place is a little hidden from the main drag(fm 1960), but if you enjoy fried oysters with good hush puppies — this place would be worth an hour of your day. Next time I’m gonna get some boudin balls and catfish!

Had the special with jalapeño cream sauce with shrimp. WOW it was very good, the fish was delicious, very well prepared. Had the Salmon plate, grilled. It was also very good. My baby girl had the kids quesadilla and she ate most of it. I did not have the catfish on this visit but will in my next visit. 5 stars in my book, good service, friendly staff and good food.

Karma of place. The last THREE restaurants in this location failed. Fish Tales was an exercise in disappointment. The gumbo was UBER salty. The hush puppies are small and burned. The shrimp was flavorless and chewy. Won’t be back.

I do not get it. Service is nothing to get excited about. The ambiance, not too great, the food… well, mediocre and salty. Hub actually had to send his gumbo back because it was so darned salty. I had a taste and yep, it featured the great taste of salt. Now, I like salt. I really do. I eat a piece of rock salt just for grins now and then, but dang, I like a little more than salt to flavor my food. He got shrimp and O-rings, I got fried oysters with cole slaw. The slaw, likely from Sysco, was the highlight of my meal. I ordered the small oyster plate and I hope they were not asking about the size of the oysters. They were dinky. They were also SALTY. Again, I love a salt lick, but that was all I tasted. Hub’s O-rings were massive and they steamed so much the breading fell right off. His fried shrimp were pretty good, a bit salty, but better than my oysters. Overall, however the color developed on the breading for both the O-rings and the shrimp was a little too light. I would love to fall in love with this place, since it’s locally owned and operated and because it is close to home, but darn it, I cannot truthfully say I will return without being physically dragged.

There are times in life where you are the fisherman, and there are times in life where you are the fish. Today, I am neither. I am just a man. Wearing man clothes and living my life. I believe that the fish I ate today at Fish tales was former inhabitant of an ocean. This was its inalienable right. I like sodas sometimes. Don’t hurt me.

We gave Fish Tails another try tonight. I have to say they definitely redeemed themselves. We ordered the same thing as last time. The blackened catfish with dirty rice and lemon butter sauce. Everything came out perfect and in a timely manner. I even got some banana pudding to go that is almost as good as my homemade banana pudding! I was very impressed tonight and I hope they keep up the good work!

This place have a great owner and manager, the food is also very good. The only issue is, they are always out of something. Everything on the menu is not always in stock.

Just got takeout from Fish Tales and it was really good! Haven’t eaten in the restaurant yet so I dont know about the service, but my dad knows the owner who is super nice. I had the fried catfish basket… good fish, hush puppies, and fries. Also tried the boudin balls which were good, but a bit spicy for me. I’ve only tried boudin one other time so I can’t really compare. Will definitely dine in sometime and try the other menu items! Love the idea of supporting a family business instead of a chain!
