Last night we had the spicy tuna tacos for the first time. They will definitely be a regular now with the salmon skin hands rolls…, shrimp & chicken fried rice & our usual salmon skin hand rolls(always with a great twist) everything was very fresh, very tasty, very delicious & very well made as usual! Thanks Johnnie

Wasabi is one of the best sushi restaurants around! All the food we have ever eaten is always amazing. We love to ask Johnny to surprise us with something different off the menu… he never disappoints!

I don’t normally write reviews, well actually this is my first one. We want to try new places and this is my new favorite place! Bang Bang chicken… Wow!!! This dish is a party, explosion, and all around happy dance in my mouth. Chicken has just the right amount of crunch and the spicy/sweet sauce is out of this world. Great happy hour specials and Johnnie rocks! Man he is amazing creating his dishes, just look at all the pictures posted and you will see. Everyone needs to come out and support our local businesses. Great staff and owners who make you fee welcome and care about their customers. Will definitely be back.

My husband and I tried this place for the first time last night and were blown away. It’s in a mediocre looking strip center, so I wasn’t expecting much, but it turned out to be amazing! We ordered the spicy tuna nachos, Tiger Eye and Aye Carumba specialty rolls and chicken and jalapeño fried rice. We always order an appetizer, two rolls and fried rice when we go out for sushi, but this was twice as much food as we were counting on. Specialty rolls normally come out in 5 or 6 pieces and ours were at least 10 large pieces each. The waitstaff was very nice and the vibe was very laid back. I don’t dislike the other sushi places around the HKA area, but this is by far the best one we’ve been to. I definitely recommend you give it a try.

The only specialty item I care for here are the spicy tuna nachos.(I usually love specialty rolls however I’m not crazy about their selection.) Anyway I had a craving for some of these delicious tuna nachos for lunch so I called to place an order for pick up and was met with disappointment. They aren’t open for lunch anymore! Apparently it has been that way since January of this year, which I wouldn’t usually be upset about because restaurant owners have the right to change their hours, HOWEVER, it is the owners responsibility to update their business hours on whatever social media/online account they may have(specifically Unilocal, which still reflects being open for lunch). Hours changed in January, it’s now July. Get with it. I’m sure I’m not the only person who wants current and accurate information when choosing a place to eat.

Terrible, attempting to pass stingray plugs as scallops. I asked the owner where they were from and he refused to tell me. I tasted one and asked to send the plate back, which the owner told me I couldn’t do. When I explained that I was not going to eat the stingray and therefore would not pay, he tried to tell me it would be a felony. I asked him to call the police and he proceeded to ignore me. Needless to say, I didn’t pay and no cops were called.

You have to go in and try wazabi sushi bar if you live in the Kingwood Humble Atascocita Texas area… Its a truly unique place and everything is excellent even if you’re not a big sushi fan go in and ask for some of their tacos including the bulgogi beef tacos… everything is great including the fried rice… ask the chef for Omakase… it stands for .“i leave it to you”.you won’t be dissapointed! …they also have great happy hour specials… drinks and food everyday but Sunday(closed) great atmosphere, great people it’s a must try place!

This place is filthy and very run down. The fish tacos are some sort of deep fried desert type entrée. Usually people order fish tacos when trying to be a bit health conscience. The sushi may be pretty and artsy but that’s where it ends. The taste is nothing special and not fresh. This was a really bad experience. I wouldn’t recommend this place ever. It needs to be cleaned and remodeled so it can be inviting and a place where people want to eat. It has a deep dark dirty dungeon feel.

Pretty small place and every table was full so we had to sit at the bar. Not very accommodating for four people but we made it work. We tried many different sushi rolls and all were excellent and fresh. The sake was really good as well. Bartender was new and a little overwhelmed but she did her best to make sure we had good service. We will definitely go back.

Wow! This place is incredible! We ordered the crazy roll, spider roll, and dragon roll and they were all different and great. We also ordered the shrimp fried rice and it was excellent. Prices were average compared to a similar place. The atmosphere was really relaxing. Nice music and dim lights. Very cool place. Will definitely be back.

2nd visit today around noon on Saturday and had the place to myself. Strange but explainable. Couple running the place are very nice and making a good effort at making their own way. I know it’s tough being a small business and keeping overhead down. That said– restrooms are always an indication of management and business culture. These are pretty bad and just need a good cleaning and to be sustained. I suppose options are limited in the area for sushi but for the price this is not meeting economic valuation. The bar is very limited and menu items are often no longer available. Food quality is just not so good or tasty– even at the most basic Japanese level of ginger salad and sushi rolls. Again really nice folks and I respect small business owners a great deal. A 5S approach would do wonders for the place but I’m sure cash flow is a limiting factor to do all that is needed. That said– pride in a place to come in early and stay late as owners to maintain and sustain cleanliness are beyond economics and require a culture shift that I encourage to take place.

After some good news on Wednesday, I decided to splurge with some sushi on Thursday. Ended up spending $ 60+ on 4 rolls and a family side portion of fried rice. I got the Wa-Lu roll(because of all the recommendations on here). It definitely lived up to it’s expectations — was unusually sweet and pleasant(almost like a dessert roll). I also ordered the Dragon and the spicy tuna roll, which were pretty generic. Last of the rolls was the Surf-n-Turf, which was not to my liking. It had what I believe was cooked octopus nobs atop a California roll and was covered with a lot of warm spicy mayo(like a bad volcano roll). Overall, Wazabi is the best sushi in the Atascocita/Kingwood area(compared to 838 Sushi, Ginger Café, etc). Regarding it’s atmosphere, it used to be really dumpy on the inside and was furnished with a weird assortment of very worn couches. However, now it seems to be more inviting and pleasant.

I’ve been coming to Wazabi since it’s previous location. I have to say that they have the best sushi outside of the Loop. Their house sauce(Japanese mayo) is mind blowing. This time they added swirls of Sriracha in the plating. Oh my gosh. The combo was insane. The spicy salmon roll had never tasted as good. We’ve probably ordered all of their special rolls by now and none have ever disappointed. The fish is always fresh, the wait is short, and the presentations are works of art. If you’re on a budget and want great sushi, this is the place to go regardless if it’s happy hour or not. You won’t go wrong with any of the special rolls, the shaggy dog, or the spicy salmon/tuna. The service is also great. There’s no doubt that we’ll continue coming back.
