The ambiance is great. The nostalgic feel of a 50’s diner adds to the eating experience however the food is not so good. First time I ate there, I was excited that the chicken tenders were hand breaded but when they were brought out they were not cooked all the way. Total turn off. Yesterday was my second time, ordered roasted chicken which they were out of, so I and my friend ordered fried chicken. What a disappointment. Chicken was old, overcooked and overall nasty. The corn on the cob was good. The soup was cold and never mind about the fries. I did have a milkshake, awesome.

We had a party of 14 very hungry kids & adults and the Eveready Diner provided delicious food at good prices, in portions large enough to share, with excellent service. We were very happy with our experience and would recommend this diner to anyone!

The food is average. The egg creams are ridiculously sweet. The atmosphere is good, and the staff is helpful. There’s lots of seating and parking. I recommend the Souvlaki pita.

The perfect place for a quick bite, everyone is so friendly and also prompt to great and seat you. The menu is a little large but everything I’ve ordered has been great, the French fries are addicting and without a doubt the best fries I’ve ever had, they are not greasy but still perfectly crunchy.

Great diner food. We were there twice in a day, once for breakfast, once for a late lunch. Great service. Not intrusive. Very friendly. Clean place. Good selection. Enough variety to make everyone happy, but not so much that they are a jack of all trades and a master of none. They bake their own pastries and make their own bagels! Good fresh brewed iced tea. Love the old diner feel and art deco touches.

Food is seriously good! They have great pancakes. Always a little dirty, with some flies, which is a turnoff obviously.

I’m from Texas, obviously y’all do breakfast a little different. I mean 13 dollars for a breakfast burrito? come on. Haha, all joking aside, this place is very good. I’m not sure why in the hell people are complaining about the customer service. yeah, sometimes they are busy, you can wait two minutes for your check, if you can’t, you need to rethink your life and priorities. I mostly had the breakfast, and the eggs especially are delicious, as well as the eggs Benedict. Coffee is good, atmosphere is cool. Side note, this place seems to have some of the cutest waitresses.

I truly had no idea that this place had been on a DDD episode. We were just paying a visit to the three NPS sites in the area and this place is convenient to all three sites on Route 9. If I would have known that I probably would have steered clear as I think that Guy doesn’t have a clue. A lot of his restaurants have horrible reviews, asinine overpriced menus and the four places I had been to prior to Eveready which had appeared on DDD episodes all stunk or were mediocre at best. With that said, let’s cut to what’s right at Eveready: * The menu is enormous! I truly can’t imagine a scenario where you could come here and say that they don’t have what you’re looking for. I don’t know how many items are on the menu but it looks like well over a hundred. * The service isn’t great but it isn’t bad. We were seated right away, our order was taken right away and the check along with plates being cleared at the end were all done in a timely manner. The place was busy and our server looked overwhelmed which led to her never checking on us after the food arrived which means that we could have shot up a flare because we wanted a drink refill and it wouldn’t have mattered but what the hell, you can’t have it all. Let’s cut to what’s not right: * The menu is overpriced, period. Diner food for four people, two of which are eating off the kids menu, with no drinks ordered other than water should not be north of forty dollars. That’s nuts. * While I know that Guy likes places that are«over the top» I’m much more of a Gordon Ramsey kind of guy. I prefer when places use the KISS method for their menu versus trying to do a hundred things half-assed in an attempt to try and appease everyone. The kids burger was charred black on one side, the chicken in the chicken cordon bleu was very, very tough like it had been overcooked which would be consistent with the burger that was overcooked and when eaten by itself the chicken was flavorlessly unseasoned. Add to that the Jose Tejas chicken sandwich with its overly oily/greasy nachos and this was not a trip to «Flavortown». On a sidebar, the the pies that we saw on display looked awesome but not at approaching five dollars a slice and not when we’re already into this place for over forty bucks for a diner lunch. For whatever reason I’m going three stars on this one but it very much weighs closer to the two star side of three as in maybe a 2.5 rounded up than it does the four star side of 3.5 rounded down.

Great diners are a rarity on Long Island so I always appreciated Eveready while attending college nearby. The Santa Barbara Club with a side of sweet potato fries(with honey mustard, of course) was my go-to meal, but everything I’ve tried was delightful. Fair warning: it gets packed on the weekends and you’ll likely have to wait for a table, especially those travelling in large groups. If you’re looking for a classic diner with reliable food, it’s worth the wait!

The eveready is more than just a local diner, this is the place where my family would go out for good report cards, birthdays, or a casual lunch. The best thing ever is when the friendly waiters bring out your race car with a huge burger!

For the longest time, I have made several trips to this restaurant. It’s always a pleasure here, and the employees are really helpful, but no matter what type of service we get, the food is always quite more expensive here. I mean, quality is there for the price, as well as quantity, but if you add things like this together to the automobile trip from a nearby town, prices add up to few trips here per year. We found some room to spend some money here so we headed here about a week ago. Ever since we lost the Rhinebeck location to a fire, getting to this location here is a pain. I like to motif of the(50’s nostalgia) but between the prices and the distance away from my home, doesn’t make this trip any more pleasant than it really is. And to top off my last visit eating their(forgot what they call it there but it’s) french toast smothered in peanut butter and bananas that they overdid in peanut butter and the amount of french toast being more than normal, plus a slice of cantaloupe melon, really made me sick. On top of that, a few other people at my table from my family also ordered their desert. Oh boy — save room for desert because you’ll be astounded by each item’s immense size. We had the desert of a brownie covered in at least 3 scoops of ice cream and I believe there was even whipped cream(almost like Reddi-Whip spray cream) and a cherry on top.(There were others, but I don’t remember). At other times, I’ve had other meals here, and again, I’ve gotten sick and these meals were overdone too so I won’t get into these. I’d really like to see this place give cheaper food with less on their plate, especially for the«out of town» locals who try to come in wanting quality over quantity.

This diner was recommended to us by a family member that lives in the area. Sadly, though, our experience had made us decide not to return. Two of our kids ordered Chicken and Waffles … a few minutes later, our server informed us that the waffle machine was broken and they could have French toast or pancakes. Both ordered the French toast. When their plates arrived, they had slabs of French toast — HUGE pieces. They had not been soaked enough in the egg mix and were dry, dry, dry. Not good at all. The chicken(3 pieces of the tiniest bantam hen ever) were all VERY underdone. In fact, the center of the chicken was ice cold. We called over the server, who called over the manager. They verified by touch that the bone area of the chicken pieces was ICE cold. The manager replaced the dishes and put them directly in a to-go box; we were still charged for them(since they did provide replacements.) I still think we should not have been charged, but they would have been out $ 30. Too much IMHO. My husband and I ordered Cheeseburgers Deluxe(comes with fries, coleslaw, an onion ring, and a pickle.) The burgers — meh. Our onion rings were missing and when we told our server, she brought 5 on a plate straight from the grease. They were extremely greasy and I didn’t like them at all. If there are two people sharing, why bring 5??? Bring 4 or 6!!! The fries were served in a small metal cup. I guess this was to be cute, but probably for portion control. They were average. The coleslaw was very bland — we took one bite only. We both agree, the pickle was the best thing on our plates. SAD. Service sucked. We had to get our own additional napkins from the servers’ station. Our server couldn’t count to five so we had to get ourselves one more silverware. We had to ask twice for a cup of mayonnaise. We had to ask twice for coffee to be refilled for my husband. It was never offered to me. Nor cream or sugar. Our kids had hot chocolate; once that was finished, EACH one had to ask our server to bring a glass of water. It was not in her ability to ask the remaining people at the table if they would like one as well. This diner was featured on DDD. Sadly, we don’t recommend it – have they gotten too big for their britches and don’t care about service or quality? Our family of 5 spent $ 98 here(including tip) … it was too darn expensive to give them another chance and we won’t return. There are better quality diners elsewhere. Wish I could give zero stars.

Just not good. We ate here because Guy came here on Diners, Drive ins, and Dives. It was sooooo crowded which I thought was a good sign… I was wrong. Everything we ordered was borderline gross. I’m not saying they don’t have anything good on the menu but if they do, we definitely didn’t get any. I won’t be back but I guess at least I can say I’ve been there

Despite the customer service, this diner is absolutely incredible. Every time I walk in to the diner, I am greeted within a minute; it’s not always a friendly greeting, but I’m acknowledged nonetheless. The quality of the food is always consistent, the portions are very satisfying and the price is extremely reasonable. I don’t think I’ve ordered anything I didn’t like, but I found the Middle Eastern dishes to be the best on the menu, which might have something to do with the owners being Greek. My favorite items on the menu include the Gyro, Burgers, shrimp wrap, pancakes(Like creamy little clouds), the shakes and last but not least, the buttery homemade waffle topped with ice cream! During my last visit, I had to ask my waitress several times for a coffee refill which never came.

I have been coming to this place every now and then. Very reputable diner featured on the food channel. I just never had the chance to write about them or remember to. I would always recommend the chili without the corn if you’re into that kind of stuff. It is prepared with melted cheese on top so you know it’s legit. I am a big fan a quesadillas so that is my go to meal and I would put my stamp on it. If you’re coming for breakfast, the meals are pretty standard diner breakfast food made to expectation, maybe exceeding at times, but never a complaint. Love the look and atmosphere of the place and the waitress are there when you need them.

Eveready was a hit among Marist students. My friends and I would crawl in on a Saturday or Sunday morning after a night out for a greasy meal. Their food is awesome, and I don’t think I’ve ever been disappointed. I usually chose the reuben or the buffalo chicken wrap, but there are a LOT of options, so every now and then I would venture and try something new. It’s usually bustling on weekends but the wait is never too long. Service is quick and friendly!

I’m just a traveler who stopped by for a bite before visiting FDR. This place was busy, yet fast and friendly. The best Cherry Coke I’ve had in a while. I had the Greek omelet and it was delicious! My friends had the lunch special that we half a sandwich, soup and salad. The homemade clam chowder was great! My other friend had the Patty melt which was also delicious! I’d you need to stop and get a bite this is the place! Great service and great prices!

umm… YUM. My boyfriend and I rented a cabin at a park nearby so naturally, we set out to get some food. This diner automatically catches your eye with its appearance and it’s right on the road. Everything was so delicious. We ended up coming here 4 times out of the week. They constantly have specials going on. The first time, we got the Disco Fries(french fries smothered in brown gravy covered with cheddar cheese and bacon), Spin Dip(spinach and artichoke dip), I got the special chicken and eggplant parm, and he got the buffalo chicken wrap. The Disco Fries were so good, the brown gravy was superb, and the cheese was also awesome. Bacon — always awesome. The artichoke dip was not my favorite but it was good. I heard the buffalo chicken wrap was good. I personally don’t like buffalo chicken, so we’ll have to take his word for it! The eggplant and chicken parm was nothing special, but still very good. It threw me off because I am used to having the chicken breaded, and it was not. It seemed like it was a flour coating. Oh yeah, I got an oreo shake. Of course it was yummy. It was also enough for two helpings. Something that is rarely seen in diners on Long Island. The second time, we went for ice cream. OMG. HUGEANDDELICIOUS. Oreo avalanche and Waffle Matinée Sundae. All very delicious. We almost went for the Scoupe de Ville. We definitely would not have been able to finish that one. Third time, brunch. I got Corny Hash, which was corned beef hash, with eggs, homefries, and toast. I ordered the hollandaise sauce to go with it for an extra 50 cents. It all went so well with each other. I was so full and satisfied when we left. My boyfriend got chicken and waffles. yum. Fourth time, we brought some friends and I forgot my phone to take pictures(darn! it looked sooo good). I got Bananas Foster Pancakes. Three buttermilk pancakes with caramelized bananas on top with syrup, raisins and some cinnamin… it was soo good. Our friends got some sausage panini and the ham and swiss panini. Boyfriend got the chicken ceasar salad wrap. The wrap needed a little more dressing and cheese, imo. Conclusion — this place is awesome and is a must visit if you are ever in the area.
