You know, I like this place a lot, it’s super cute and has a few redeeming qualities, but I can only give 3 stars because most of the food just isn’t that great. It’s a cute place, decorated in county style. Their dessert case by the register has me drooling every time I walk by it. Muffins, doughnuts, pastries, cakes, brownies and CUPCAKES. The best thing on the menu? The burger and shake combo. It’s what they do best. We(as in The Man and I) love the Hawaiian Burger(grilled pineapple!) especially paired with a fruity shake. They’ve got about 100 shake flavors(slight exaggeration) and you can mix and match. Fries are ok, and they give you a TON. Onion rings are fat and greasy in a GOOD way, but seriously can only eat about 3. Everything else is very reminiscent of hospital food. Good, fine, but bland food that will neither excite nor offend anyone with any sort of particular spice. The desserts, as previously mentioned, are the other high note here. All have been wonderful, but their cupcakes really are a thing of wonder. I always buy one«to take home» and end up licking all the frosting off in the car. Yup.

Right across the street from our hotel room. Me and my sister walked across for some sweet treats and let me say… DELICIOUS. The staff are so friendly and warm. They asked how we liked our stay in Inver Grove. Great little place for a snack!

Alyssa R & I have been here a few times for their All-You-Can-Eat Friday Night Fish Fry, and remember enjoying it. We tried to make it the week prior, but upon calling, we were informed the AYCE Fish Fry is served until 8, which ended to early for us. Not tonight, though. With our 15 week-old being watched by Grandpa & Grandma, we drive on down. It’s not hard to find, being right off of Highway 52& Upper 55th. The parking lot was crowded, but we managed to score a prime spot right by the door. In fact it was so close, we looked twice to see if it was a handicapped spot. Walking inside, there’s a short wait to get a seat. Under 5 minutes. This is fine, because they have a bakery case full of sweets & treats. Memo to self: Don’t stuff yourself, because there are things I’ll want to eat on the way home in the car. Our name gets called, and we tell the host they need a rag to wipe up our drool off the glass of the pastry case. We are brought to the back area of the restaurant, to a booth, and get told that Miguel will be our server. Looking around, I can see why there was a short wait. It’s busy in here! There is a drink & dessert menu at the table I open up and find impressive. They have beer, wine, and mixed drink choices. Tough to expect that at Emma Krumbees. They advertised $ 2 buck glasses of Sam Adams Winter Lager. Sounds good to me. Miguel stops by to ask what we want to drink. The Sam Winter is out, and they’ve switched to a Sam Adams Springtime Ale. I look back into the drink menu to see what else they’ve got. Alyssa R orders a Diet Cherry Pepsi, and I locate a Fat Tire. Miguel says he’d be right back with them, and to take our order. He comes back with Alyssa R’s drink, but not mine. Miguel says they are out of Fat Tire. 0 for 2. I go back into the drink menu & go with MGD. Miguel informs me they are out of that too. 0 for 3. Giving up on beer all together, I try a Pina Colada? That they have, Miguel says. Phew. Now we got that done and out of the way. When the Pina Colada gets dropped off, we order our Fish Fry’s. Beside the battered & deep fried North Atlantic Cod, it comes with coleslaw, cowboy beans, bread, and choice of potato. Those choices are mashed, German potato salad, baked, or french fries. I went with french fries. Alyssa R went with a baked potato. I don’t think the dinners took more than 10 minutes, because good conversation made me lose track of time. Setting the plates down, Miguel informed us that they had run out of cowboy beans, and that we got switched to whole kernel corn instead. I shouldn’t be surprised at this point. Emma Krumbees has run out of something else. First Impression. Big plate of food. Five pieces of Cod! The tartar looked house-made. It had pimento in it. Nice touch. Perfect wedge of lemon. The coleslaw was highlighted with green pepper. Very strange. I like green pepper, but have never had it in my coleslaw. Overpowering flavor of it. The bread had an Italian herb blend in it. Lots of oregano. Weird choice with a Fish Fry. French fries were underdone. They were limp & soggy. The corn was overcooked. It was rubbery. The Cod was spot on. Flaky & fresh. The batter was good, but with beer on tap, they should make a beer batter. It did coat the Cod nicely. Alyssa R said her baked potato was good. It came with butter & sour cream. Five pieces of Cod to start off our dinners is unheard of. We prefer it to be not so many. By the time we got to the fourth & fifth piece, it was cold. We love to reorder fish, because when they arrive, they are fresh from the fryer. Both of us failed to reorder, tonight. That was a first for us. It also means we aren’t sure what is available for reorder. Just fish, or everything. We failed to ask about this. When Miguel stopped by, he said, «I was going to ask you if you wanted more fish, but…» then just walked away from us. That was the second time he walked away from us before we answered his question. This perturbed Alyssa R. She told me that it’s a good thing for him I’m in a good mood tonight. Yes, Miguel. It was. Trust me. I know. Miguel asked if we wanted boxes to take home anything, which we did. The box came with our bill, which you can pay to your server, or up front. We knew we were getting something else up front, so we paid up there. We got a loaf of Apple Fritter bread to make french toast with the next morning. So, 2AYCE Fish Fry’s, Pepsi, Pina Colada, & loaf of bread was just over $ 35 bucks after tax. $ 9.99 for the AYCE Fish Fry was the perfect price point. Especially for the fish being cod. I think this Fish Fry has the ability to be four stars. It would just take better service, and better portion control. Plus, it wouldn’t hurt to keep up on your stock. Four different items were out, and affected our dinner experience.

I went here before a late morning movie. I would consider the food and overall feel to be very similar to Perkins. I had Eggs Benedict. It wasn’t bad but it certainly wasn’t the best I’ve ever had(or in the top ten). The eggs weren’t truly poached, shaved ham was used and the hollandaise sauce was separated(but seriously, it wasn’t bad!). I subbed a slice of French Toast for the hasbrowns. The French Toast was excellent. My friend had sausage, eggs and pancakes. She loved all of it. Said the pancakes were great. Price was fair for the quality of the food. Service was good. If you like Perkins or similar restaurants, you will like Emma Krumbee’s.

Just ok. More ‘newly wed, nearly dead’ type of joint. Not like the big Emma’s down 169.

We went for dinner Friday around 6 pm. The person who was up front was confused and disorganized. No one knew who came first and was annoyed there was no host/hostess to seat us. We order the daily special. The all you could eat fish fry and the Baked chicken(white meat). The food came out in 5 minutes, maybe less which made us nervous. Large portion of fish, baked beans looked like baby vomit. Baked chicken dinner came with an «ice cream scoop» of mash potatoes and stuffing just covered in gravy(cold gravy). Baked chicken breast and wing were one large piece which was just odd to me. Chicken was warm, on the colder side and was partly pink. Worse experience ever there. Will not return for a long time.

This is a good, solid place to come for breakfast. I was greeted fairly promptly when I came in and seated right away. I didn’t deviate too much from the normal potato and egg breakfast. I got the egg, bacon, potato platter with the apple bread and then my usual cranberry juice and hot tea. The bacon was nice and crisp, eggs done to order, potatoes the perfect amount of crispy exterior. Maybe could have used a bit more seasoning but pepper and a bit of ketchup did just fine to spice it up a bit. The cranberry juice was a bit too cranberry cocktail for my taste. I like it nice and tart. This wasn’t bad per se, just sweeter than I would like and there was definitely some other juice(should I assume apple?) mixed in. Now to move to the opposite end of the sweetness spectrum: I was happy that when I asked for some honey for my tea, they have me an entire bear. I hate having to use the tubs or packets of honey. It’s so hard to find the right amount. So the bear was appreciated. As for the apple bread, I was far too full to eat it at this meal. I took it in a to-go box and made toast out of it a couple days later. Delicious.

We went to Emma Krumbee’s for Valentine’s Day dinner. We had a good experience. My wife had prime rib for $ 9.99 and I had salmon for $ 12.99. The food was average but considering the reasonable price, we weren’t complaining. Service was great. Overall, we enjoyed our dinner!
