So I went to try this place out for 3 reasons. 1. Its very close to my work. 2. I love this type of food. 3. I wanted to try it out before I ordered from it for our office’s montly birthday lunches. I walk in around 2pm, and place my order. The cashier is nice and takes my order without any issues.(I ordered a hibatchi steak plate without muchrooms.) She handed me my recipt and a buzzer with a number on it.(Like you get at restaurants to let you know when your tabel is ready.) I sit just outside at rhe tables and wait. I wait and my buzzer doesn’t go off. You know that point where you say to yourself, «My food should definitely be ready by now… should I go check?». Well I got there and not wanting to be pushy I gave them 5 more minutes. After 5 minutes I decided to go check on my foood. I ask the cashier(different girl from the one who placed my order) if my food was ready. She looks at some bagged food on the metal shelves next to her(decides that isn’t it without checking it), then checks with someone in the back, and then it leads her back to the bag on the counter. She checks the receipt on the bottom and hands it to me. To be co. pletely honest, I have no idea how long it had been sitting there. I was upset that no one bothered to get me. It wasn’t busy and I sat right outside. Anyways, I accept the food and take it outside to eat and open it up to eat during the last 15min of my break. It’s the wrong order. Its hitbatchi chicken and steak woth mushrooms. I bring it inside to tell them and they didn’t seem very apologetic. I mentioned my break was almost over and that I didn’t have to to wait for a new order. I asked for a refund. She said nothing in response to this and started processing the refund. When she gave my refund to me she asked if I wanted to keep it. I declined since the mushrooms were a dealbreaker for me. I think that the customer service here is lacking. I won’t be ordering from their catering either. I wish I could give a good recommendation to people but I can’t. Maybe I’ll try this place again but, for now, all they left me with was a completely wastes lunch hour.

The food is not really japanese but its fresh and like home made. The steak is tender. Give you really large portion of meat if you order the large size dishes. Had the shrimp and steak and was awesome for what you pay for.

This place has good food. We liked the salmon, chicken and steak plates. There is both indoor and outdoor seating at tables.

I work in the business park around Tokio Grill, so I get lunch there relatively often. The price and the food quality keep me coming back. Try the shrimp and/or the chicken. Personally, I think the shrimp is the best thing I’ve gotten here. Give it a try, you won’t be disappointed.

Ok lunch place Understand however that customer experience is important. 1 you don’t during peak lunch day part decide to screw with the till on one of only two registers 2 when you’re screwing with the till trying to track down five bucks during the lunch rush you don’t intentionally avoid eye contact with the covers who are standing in the long long line. You tell them it will be a sec and smile 3 crew in back should be instructed to MWP – Move With Purpose. Don’t drag around back there. Act like you have a sense of urgency 4 if you aren’t cooking, plating or taking money you should be wiping 5 if you’re wearing gloves it’s because you’re handling food. Change them if you do something different before going back to food 6. Front crew should learn the menu and registers before working rush

The portions for dine in are good. I got the steak and chicken. The chicken is great. Good flavor not dry. The steak is kind of tough. If I came here again I would just go with Chicken. Veggies and rice were good. Veggies taste Fresh and rice wasnt dry. Pretty sure the diet coke isn’t diet coke.

Went to lunch with some friends this week. Didn’t feel like having poke, so thought I would give Tokio Grill a shot. I was pleasantly surprised! I had the salmon combo and it was delish! The fish was 2 large fillets and cooked through but moist. The fried rice was just as good. Was happy to see the steamed vegetables weren’t straight from a frozen bag! Definitely will go there again! Oh, and even though the line was a bit long, I got in & out and had my food even before my friends(who were there before me) even ordered.

To go order. The previous reviews about to go orders are true. Small portion of meat. I was deceived by the pictures they have in the menu. Ordered: chicken and shrimp regular Portion: not enough. Not worth the $ 10 price Chicken: teriyaki chicken overcooked Shrimp: seasoned with salt and pepper: not bad but i deserve better taste from the amount of $ i paid Rice: Fried rice with vegetable. It was okay. Vegetable: it was alright. Will i come back: No Staff: OK

To summarize: The food was a 4 out of 5 stars. Pretty good for what you pay. The service is 2 out of 5. Average = 3. I ordered on the Unilocal app for pick up ASAP. I know it wouldn’t be ready ASAP as it was lunch time and there is quite a lunch rush so I waited about 10 minutes before leaving the office. When I arrived I went straight to the register and told them I had ordered online. They told me to wait and they would call my name when it was ready. I stood there for about 15 minutes waiting and decided I would go check again. Turns out the first girl I talked to didn’t communicate to the other three people working behind the counter that I was there and waiting and my food got put on the bottom shelf?

Service was fast and server was friendly. Place seems clean and well kept. Food is affordable with ample amount of serving. The food wasn’t bad but it’s not spectacular that will make you want to keep coming back. We were in the area for a business trip and needed a quick dinner so this was«okay». What’s bad though was the fountain drinks… It was terrible. Probably the water! Eeeek!

I tried the other restaurants in this plaza and I thought I’d try this one out. It’s my first time coming here, so I didn’t know what to expect. Luckily, they have a nice lit screen with their menu and pictures to go with it, so it making a decision of what to order was easy. I ordered the chicken teriyaki bento box and a small order of their house fried rice. On the plus side, my food looked fresh and appealing. Also, I had my order to go, and it came with a small serving of Miso soup. On the other hand, the food came in a little short on the taste. Also, I was expecting my bento box to come with rice, but it didn’t, so that’s a first. It’s a good thing that I ordered a side of fried rice. I’m giving them a four because the service was very good, and the price is so dirt cheap compared to the other restaurants in this plaza.

I had eaten here once before(just a few weeks back) and was looking forward to trying something else on the menu. I ordered the«Steak and Chicken» plate. After waiting what seemed like a long time(turned out it was about 20 minutes), I was called up to get my order. Strike One: It was all packaged up «To Go». I had distinctly said«I’ll eat it here» and it said«Dine In» on the receipt… but it was all packaged up in a bag. «I’m Sorry» was the response when I pointed this out. Strike Two: When I got back to my table to open up by big bag of «To Go» stuff, I opened up the big box(the little box had the side salad) and immediately noticed that there was *much* less meat, than there was when I dined-in last time. I counted about 6 – 7 pieces of the«Steak» and there were a bunch of mushrooms mixed together. The place was a mad house… tons of other customers still waiting for their food, a line of people out the door… so I decide to eat my lunch, then let them know about it after I was done, when things calmed down. A few bites in, I noticed that there wasn’t any chicken in the box? I look at my receipt… Yep, it says«Steak and Chicken», but alas there was no chicken for me. Strike Three: At this point I decide I’m going to say something. I take my receipt up to the front and ask the girl giving out the food if she was the manager. She said«No» and went to go get her. She then grabs one of the employees dishing the food onto plates who comes up to see what’s wrong. I explain that there was no chicken on the plate, and it was at this point I noticed all the other«Dining In» customers had a LOT more meat on their plates! I also pointed this out and was told that some people pay extra to get extra meat. I am very familiar with this concept(I often pay to get extra meat) and you can be assured this is the exception, not the norm. She handed me a small To Go bowl with some more meat in it. On the way out I asked a nice lady, who’s plate was piled high with Chicken and Steak if she paid for the Extra Meat option and she said«Nope. Just the $ 9.95 regular». You’re Out: I think this place skimps on the To Go orders and really needs a refresher course on what proper customer service is. The manager treated me like I was an inconvenience, rather than a valued customer. At $ 12-somthing(I can’t recall the exact amount, because she KEPTMYRECEIPT) I expect more. So I get back to my office to see how the chicken tasted in the To Go bowl… only to find out, it’s MORE Steak lol. Seems like it’s not my day.

What a Sh! t hole! Place feels dirty, ex convicts preparing food and a stupid gateway home computer is used to take your order… trust me, go next door to Flame Broiler. You’ll still find ex convicts preparing your food but at least the food taste better! ! !

For the price, this place gets 5 stars for sure. But taking into account the taste of the food, I had to bump it down a star. I decided to order online through Unilocal/eat24 and got the teriyaki chicken with brown rice. I was supposed to pick it up at 1 but I was running late and didn’t get there until 1:15pm. I thought they’d have everything ready by the time I got there, but I’m glad it wasn’t all packaged already since it would have been cold by that time. I guess I should have just ordered right then and there but reading their reviews had me scared that their lunch rush is insane. Anyway, the food was pretty decent portion. I had enough left for dinner– keep in mind, I got the small size. The chicken was more bland than I expected especially since the meat looked very well marinated. The veggies were steamed ok– just needed to add some salt. And the rice was surprisingly the best part! I was attempting to be healthy when I ordered brown rice, and I got cold feet when i got to the counter. I almost changed it to regular white rice, but I’m glad I didn’t! It was cooked perfectly to my taste, on the softer side, that is. Long story short, I will most definitely come back again if I forget to pack my lunch/dinner. Not to mention, it was all for under $ 6!

I visited the Tokio Grill with a colleague for the first time on a Monday evening. I was impressed with the size of the dining room and the overall ambiance. It felt like more a n actual restaurant versus a quick service restaurant. The have quite a selection and their prices are reasonable. I ordered the small teriyaki chicken plate. I was impressed with the amount of food received especially since it was the small. The quality was very good, however, it could use a tad more teriyaki sauce. The cleanliness was alright, however a couple of the tables were dirty. The gal working was friendly and helped explain the menu to us. I will definitely visit again and highly recommend Tokio Grill.

This is a better fast food place than The Flame Broiler and other similar restaurants. They don’t burn their meat that bad like the others do. I ordered a plate of teriyaki chicken with fried rice. That is so cool that they allow me to substitute the vegetables to a side of fried rice instead with no charge. The chicken are like popcorn-sized pieces which is good. Well, I would like to come back again soon if I have time!

So this place is another one of those Americanized Asian food places. I had the Chicken Teriyaki here, and the chicken teriyaki itself was okay, it was a bit over sauced, but still decent. The vegetables weren’t very noteworthy, they just kind of tasted like stir-fried vegetables. Overall, a decent place for a quick fix, but not something I would go out of my way to have.

I wanted something healthy so I decided on CHICKENSALAD It was pretty good:) definitely try if you are looking for something not heavy $ 8 something? Kinda pricey for salad and chicken but hey we are in Irvine. Lol

This is not good Japanese food. Is it supposed to be Japanese food? I assumed based on the name. It is very fake, dry, bland food. I don’t think they cook it, I think it is just found. It is birthed from the cavity of some ancient beast and slapped on a plate. It is not worth the money and not worth the time. Also Tokyo is misspelled… or is it? Does Tokio mean something else? Is that a word? Am I making a grave, cultural error? Maybe, but that’s a risk I’m willing to take. Valhalla.

If you look up «meh» in the dictionary, you might find a picture of Tokio Grill. Blah food, indifferent service, and average prices. I ordered the chicken and steak entrée online and walked over from my office. Despite the place being completely empty on a Thursday evening, my food wasn’t ready. They were, however, ready to give me someone else’s food. The cashier confirmed that I wanted my steak medium rare, but when I received my food the steak was way overcooked. Just as bad, it had no flavor. The chicken and veggies(zucchini, carrots, cabbage, and mushrooms) were fine, but the only thing that would count as «good» was the fried rice. The sweet/hot sauce was all right, but the white sauce that some people rave about was sort of terrible(basically a runny mayo-type sauce). Beware that they upcharge you $ 1 if you want white meat chicken. You’re better off skipping Tokio Grill and going to Flame Broiler.
