Good for its namesake. A local dinner. Good eats with minimal wait. Casual friendly feel to it. Been in a few times for a big prework breakfast.

Love this place. Been going for a very long time. Hours are funny but get use to it. Service is fast and everyone there is friendly and efficient. Food cook great to order and have to say the hot chocolate is always yummy. Looks like a small place but it is really big and there is not a long wait time. Breakfast or lunch is good. And have to say the shakes are wonderful too.

My boyfriend and I stopped here on a Sunday afternoon for an early lunch. I love the 50s diner theme, so cool! I ordered a bacon cheeseburgers with onion ring. The bf had a breakfast scramble. His portion was huge and he was not able to finish it. He said it was very tasty too. My food was really good, however the portion was very small. I don’t eat a lot, but it would have been nice to have leftovers for later. I would come back for sure, but will probably try breakfast next time. The staff is very friendly and prompt.

The staff is incredibly friendly and attentive. This place has the best service I’ve had in Dallas so far. Food is traditional diner style, and filling. They also have some Texas breakfast staples like migas and breakfast burritos.

This was our first time here, and we were highly impressed. It’s got that old timey diner feel, of course. The menu is super fun and cute. Breakfast was amazing. We got biscuits and gravy.(I’ve had better, but they weren’t bad at all. Sausage added to the gravy would’ve made it better.) Along with pancakes, corned beef hash, and sausage and egg sandwich on sourdough. Prices are great. My sandwich was 6 bucks.

pretty decent food to break your fast but the quality didn’t quiet measure up to the price. I was on expense account so I didn’t really care that it cost my $ 17 for a pancake platter and ice-tea but if it was my own money, I would go elsewhere. The blueberry pancakes were large and had a many, many berries but they were just OK — they lacked the fluffiness or something from a really great diner. The ham and eggs were spot on and the service was friendly and quick. I don’t think that there are a lot of competing spots offering the same type of food in this very business office dense area — so if price is not a concern, this may be the best game in the neighborhood.

This place is reallly cute. I work next to Local Diner and I have to say that are on my list for favorite breakfast joints. Me and my finacee went today for breakfast before I went to work. I had the meat plate it came with 2 eggs your choice of 2 meats and your choice of pancake or toast, my fiancée has the Hobo Omelett with blueberry pancakes. Their pancakes are soo big we didn’t even finish them. This place is so good and the service is too!!!

Excellent! Stopped here before heading home to San Antonio based on Unilocal reviews. Amazing service! We felt so welcome, treated as if we were regulars. Hubby had pancake plate and a side of hash browns and I had pancakes, bacon, and country potatoes. Everything was incredibly delicious and the portion are insane. We spent $ 20 for two people, can you say very affordable?! This is someplace I’m very pleased to recommend.

Food is consistently above average as is the price. We come here for breakfast often and always have good service. The manager Kami is awesome ensuring everybody had their food correctly prepared and even checked back twice. **look for a coupon in local paper or receive one online after signing up for email!!**

I wanted to try a new breakfast spot and this popped up on Unilocal so I had to give it a try. I placed a pick up order of a stack of two blueberry pancakes. These pancakes were not regular size, they were HUGE! They were so good and satisfying to eat. Full of blueberries and so worth the five dollars I spent. Actually, I feel like I got more than what I paid for. The pancakes were fluffy and delicious!!! they were better with butter on top so be sure to ask for some!

One of our favorite breakfast places. Try any of the Breakfast Skillets… the Texan Scambler is wonderful. Nothing is bad.

This place gets packed around lunch time I was training in the area so I stopped to eat here I was little hesitate I ordered cheese burger medium cooked that was mistake burger look almost rare fries looked frozen bought and burger has no seasoning maybe I miss something here but if you can’t burger Down then the whole place isn’t worth checking out. People were nice as in staff and it’s clean maybe breakfast would be better but it reminds me of Denny’s just another theme sorry like I said if there’s something I missed let me know? i paid 8 dollars for burger it also taste like it was out of a box but just somewhat better meaty taste but nothing to rage about.

My garden omelette was overcooked and lacked flavor. My pancake was really dense, too. Didn’t taste bad, just felt like it was a 10 lb pancake! The chunky potatoes were good, I don’t remember if they were seasoned or not bc I covered them in ketchup. For all of the food it was $ 10, which isn’t bad for the portion size, but that omelette was not tasty at all even smothered in salsa and some ketchup, the eggs were just too dry.

Just a typical diner with nice and really friendly staffs. A light ring as you enter and a host will welcome you. They have nice portraits of old actors and actresses and place is clean. Tried their #10 — 1 Egg, 2 Bacon Or 1 Sausage, Hash Browns & Slice Of Toast… it was alright, just enough food for a nice and full breakfast. If you order coffee, I was told I can request for a cup to-go too. However, I opted not to as it was not hot and the taste was just ok. The menu is extensive, so can be definitely be back to try their other better menu items.

The food was great! This is the place to go if your significant other wants breakfast and you want lunch! He had biscuits and sausage gravy and I had an amazing hamburger, you could tell that they make their patties fresh everyday. The tea was also really good, definitely coming back! Unilocal is great at finding really great places!

Everytime I drive by this place, it’s closed then I realized that on the rare occasion that it is open, it’s VERY busy! We finally had the chance to try it this past weekend. The place is really cute, like one of those diners you see on tv. The staff is very friendly and they have the menus on the table so you can look at it as soon as you sit down. We tried their migas with potatoes and the garden omelette with bacon addition. I love love how they let us substitute toast with blueberry pancake though! So that’s one more thing we got to try. The migas were okay, the bell peppers tasted a lil too raw still(not sauteed enough). It didn’t really compare to Café Brazil’s migas or anything of that sort. The potatoes were pretty good, they were well seasoned and soft. The omelette was really good with alot of ingredients stuffed within it. The egg was nice and fluffy and had a slight hint of buttery-ness. The hashbrowns that came with it were a bit too crispy, didnt have the nice crisp on the outside soft on the inside that I was looking for. The blueberry pancake was okay. It was a lil too cake-y for me, not so much fluffy but the flavor was good. Their prices are pretty good for the serving size, we took half of our meals home. Overall this place is pretty good if you live in the area and just feeling lazy to cook your own breakfast. However, I don’t think I would ever crave their food as it is just your so typical breakfast food and there are numerous other places I’d rather drive to.

Local Diner — what a cool name for a place that epitomizes WHY I am a proud Unilocaler — it lives up to its name, it’s a cool find, and it is truly local. As a frequent traveler for both work and pleasure, it is my goal to avoid dining at national chains as often as possible, and to avoid eating someplace I can choose at home in VA. Starbucks obsession aside, it’s gems like Local Diner in Irving that get my pumped up! As the de facto dining establishment selector when I’m with a group, I chose Local Diner for an AM breakfast meeting with a few colleagues. The décor was spot-on and what you’d expect from a «50s-style diner,» so we dug the old movie star posters, caricatures, stainless steel everything, and big squishy red vinyl booths(that were very clean, BTW). Smoke-free establishment, also. Restrooms were clean and well-stocked, too. The menu had the full cadre of what you’d expect at a diner, with all of the breakfast and lunch delights, so I chose an egg-white omelette, grits, and toast. The omelettes we ordered(both whole egg and egg whites) were exceedingly fluffy, neither oily nor greasy, and had the perfect mixture of fillings in the fold of the omelette as well as mixed in to the eggs themselves. Perfection! The grits and toast were good, standard stuff. Prices were amazingly cheap, and service was AWESOME. Our waitress was positively hilarious and gregarious; she made our visit fun without being over-the-top. It wasn’t an act. She also wasn’t in a hurry to turn our table and get us out of her station, as we had a quick business meeting of sorts as we ate, and our lovely waitress topped up our coffees and waters to no end. Much appreciated! It must also be the safest place in town to eat, as no fewer than 5 patrol cars were parked in the parking lot while we were there, and many police force members were dining at the same time.

Just love my diners especially a joint like this. We have eaten at this place before but this the first time I’m reviewing our experience here. At the Local Diner they have all of your typical classic diner food and the fantastic never ending cup of coffee. Mmmmmmm coffee. They also have good tasting healthy food here too. I ordered an egg white omelette with American fat free cheese, and sausage. It turned out pretty good and heathy with a huge portion of food. The grits were pretty average and typical of a diner. We also had a the country fried chicken and that was really good and massive. What stood out was that it was made out of chicken breast instead chicken mush. The chicken was very moist and not dry at all and had a good flavor and texture. The chicken came with a side of has browns which were not too greasy. The service there was very quick but not to talkative and didn’t really offer an suggestions on our dining experience. I prefer my diner people to be sociable but you can’t always get what you want. We will come back again to try some other tasty food and enjoy the never ending cup of coffee.
