Twisted Scissors

This was such a random stop on our way to eat in Jamul. Our 1 year old needed a hair cut and it was right next door to where we were headed for dinner. It’s a cute name and a stylish beauty salon in a small country feel strip mall off the main Campo Road.
We walked in and met Tina who agreed to cut his hair. It was becoming so long and this is his 2^nd haircut but first buzz. Tina did a wonderful job by using a level 3 guard. Our son didn’t know where he was or what was about to happen. He got a little nervous and teared up but Tina was so awesome with him and warmed him up by showing him the clippers and what noise it made. He sat on daddy’s lap while Tina went to work. She’s so good with kids!
The holidays are here and the salon had a toys for tots donation box that was joyfully filled with toys. I grabbed a ball from the box just so he would stop crying and it worked. Next time I will bring a distraction toy with me.
Overall, Tina was fabulous and she also does men’s haircuts and of course women’s hair. She does it all. And the prices were reasonable. She gave me a price menu and it includes nails, wax, and more services. Thank you Tina!

I got the best haircut here today by Andrea! She listened to exactly what I wanted. She did an amazing job. I will 100% be coming back here in the future. I can’t recommend this place enough.

I have been seeing Dorothy for the last 10 years (except for around 5 years when I went temporarily insane and moved to Atlanta) and not only is she a great stylist that is reasonably priced, She has become part of my family. This is the best bargain around, and I refuse to go anywhere else for my hair. The atmosphere at the shop is welcoming and fun and never dull. I have had many, many moments in this place where I laughed so hard I thought I would burst. Jamul is a close-​knit community and Twisted Scissors is right in the middle…

I have been going to Twisted scissors in Jamul, CA, for over fifteen years! I LOVE THIS SALON!!! Best Ever! The people who work there are like family. Dorothy is my hair stylist and she is fantastic. AND, all the people who work there are absolutely outstanding! (I really mean this!) You only have to try this salon once and you will forever be a Twisted Scissors patron! They have «do’s» for all ages. Love this Salon!

One of the most amazing places on the planet! The first time I went to see Dorothy, Lacy was there in a baby carrier! Now she is a skilled professional working there as well. If you want to try a «Steel Magnolias» kind of experience, this is it. Dorothy is one of the most loving, caring people I’ve ever meet. My last «do» by Dorothy was quite a change, I went waaaay darker. One of my friends liked it so much, she is now a new client!
If you are looking for true foot care in a pedicare, try Lauren, she is the best I’ve ever seen (Lacy did a great job, too!).
Palermo really knows her makeup, the brief time I spent with her shows me she is a skilled artist, if you are ready for a new look or update give her a try!

I have been a customer at Twisted Scissors for years. My primary stylist is Dorothy and she is a Total Genius at color, cuts, hair extensions and everything HAIR.
I was excited to learn of a new service the salon is now offering — micro current facials and body massages. Out of curiosity I booked an appointment for a full body treatment. This is not like any traditional massage I have ever had. There is no kneading or painful deep tissue work in the standard sense. Instead, using a very low electrical current conducted through two metal probes, the body is ‘swept’ completely and painlessly producing a deep sense of relaxation. Dorothy explained that this type of treatment is similar to acupuncture in the sense that it targets specific points in the body to release blocked energy. Often resulting in relief from any specific pains the client may be experiencing. I can tell you that I felt like «jello» afterwards and was very refreshed. I would highly recommend this service to anyone wanting to try something a little different!
They also offer the best spa pedicures EVER! Lauren and Lacey pamper their clients’ feet like none other.
Over the years I have at various times had services performed by almost every stylist in the salon. Everyone is friendly and competent. There is a «family» feel to this shop which keeps their regular clients coming back. No such thing as a stranger here! Even first time clients are made to feel welcome and that their business is always appreciated. To top it off, prices are reasonable! What more can a girl ask for?

Great, friendly one-​stop beauty shop, with hair, nails, and waxing services and a 50s kind of flair.
I walked in for a trim and was greeted by Debbie, who got to work on my long hair. They include a shampoo and blow-​dry with their haircuts ($ 25 depending on what you want to do). She was really good about making sure her conception of a 1-​inch trim was the same as mine (so many places don’t even bother to check until they’ve cut off way too much). Even better, the sink is right there at their station, so you don’t have to stumble around the salon with a wet towel wrapped around your head.
The ladies who work here have a steady stream of regulars, so you might want to call ahead to check availability if you’re in a rush.
