I would advise never going into this salon. The owner is extremely rude, the service is under par and it will be an overall uncomfortable experience because the salon is so poorly run with extremely poor customer service. I cannot stress this enough– Save your money and your time!

The owner and my stylist were very friendly; however I am very disappointed in my cut. I showed a photo of what I was looking for and my hair is nothing like it. The photo, her hair clearly is slightly below her shoulder… my hair is at least a full 2INCHES shorter than that… maybe an inch below my ears. I’m so sad, it looks horrible I can’t even wear it down, I have to try and wrangle what I can into a teeny bun, and use bobby pins to keep the back up. I also was very clear than I wanted the ends to be tailored, sleek, chic and not so bulky… what i got was a messy of choppy layers that don’t even make sense. I have to wait for this mess to grow in and go to another place to get something done with it.

I went in with my two very well behaved girls ages 5&7. The person behind the desk, the owner, was hesitant but said that the stylist could cut their hair. But that they couldn’t go at the same time because she, the owner, didn’t cut kids hair because they«are wiggly and don’t stay still». My girls know how to sit in chairs and are extremely well behaved so I should have walked out right then but the stylist seemed nice. The stylist washed their hair and then did the cut. Once the cut was done the stylist started to blow dry my daughter’s hair(My girls love to have their hair blown out — it is the best part of the salon experience). Immediately, the owner yelled at the stylist to have them go under the dryer chair. My daughter hesitantly sat it in it being a trooper as she was disappointed that her hair was not going to be blown out. Anyway, it was not drying a single hair. So I asked the owner if my daughter could get her hair blown out and she said«well it will cost you». I said«Fine, I’lll pay. Its very cold outside and this dryer chair isn’t drying her hair much.» Well, she huffed and puffed and then said«well, we don’t have time. A client is coming in soon» The entire time she spoke she was rude and her attitude was awful. Finally I asked if I could just use the hair dryer myself to dry both my daughter’s hair since it seemed that, although the stylist did want to do it, she wasn’t going to be allowed. The owner said«Its not my hair dryer — you will have to ask the stylist». Which I did and she said yes. After my girls hair were dried I went to pay and it was completely overpriced for not even having their hair blown nicely. The stylist was very nice but the owner ruined the entire experience for me. I will never recommend this place to anyone. Sad because I live in the building and it would have been great to just take the elevator down. Well, its no wonder that anytime I pass by, this Legends place is empty. I will just go to Dazzle right up the street.

AVOID this«salon» at all costs!!! I don’t want to even give this place one star! They are terrible. Rude, slow, just plain awful. The owner thinks she knows everything and she’s never wrong… ha. They lack time management skills as well as decent conversation skills. When I told the owner that she was pulling too hard on my hair she told me to get a thicker scalp! Really, that’s how you treat a paying customer when you are in the customer service business. Plus my hair color ended up pretty much the same as when I came in(no color seemed to be added)! Once again, AVOID, AVOID, AVOID!!! Update 10÷17÷13: As you can see by the comment left by the Owner, she takes criticism harshly and does not think the CUSTOMER is right. Just because I use my nickname on this website does not mean that I did not use your salon. THEONLYMISTAKETOMAKEISSPENDINGMONEYATTHISESTABLISHMENT.

Horrible experience I had just now in Legends, the worst place ever and the owner is extremely rude, has no respect neither for her customers nor to her employee, careless to her supplies and even dares to threaten you with calling the police if you do not pay 100 $ for the service, which is already cheap as she said(the original price was 120 $). A week ago I stopped by at Donna’s place to find out if they do curly perm, she said yes, I asked to show me the rods they use since I know exactly what I need and I am getting perm for 10 years already, so pretty familiar with the process and the expected result. Looked like she had the size of the rods I need. Today was the day to get my hair done. I came in, got my hair washed and ready to curl it and all of a sudden me and the hairdresser find out that almost all of the rods are too old and they just fall apart in your hands, we called her asking if there were any new ones, and her answer was«Use another size it will be just fine!», we started getting rods done hoping they there will be enough, no way! on half way it was impossible to proceed and there was no other solution than me going to the CVS(cold outside, my hair is wet and half way done with rods!!!). No luck in store so I went home to get my OWN rods. Came back and got all finished, it was horrible experience, I was there from 1PM till 6PM!!! what usually takes max 3 hours, people were coming for their appointments and I had to undo rods by myself. The best part is that the owner lives 15 min away from the salon and she did not bother herself to go and get what needed or even call and talk to me. I was definitely not going to pay full price for this service, half of it seemed even too much after all I went through, plus having rods on your head is extremely painful especially for so long. It was the worst day in my life ever. When I got on the phone with the owner saying that I will pay only for hairdresser work, she started yelling at me and threatening with the Police. No sorry, nothing, just yelling and saying nonsense that another size of rods would be just fine. I payed 60 $ for this«wonderful» service. Horrible, horrible and disgusting experience in Legends and the owner Donna Marie. She ruined my day, my treatment and deserves all bad comments.

I visited this place a few years ago and minus the owner that was pushy and generally rude I never got a bad haircut while I was there. Recently I tried to see about a massage that they had on their website however when I went to the«spa» I was told they don’t offer that anymore. Update your site!

Ha! I called this place to get an appointment as I see they offer a Unilocal Deal… The woman I spoke to was not only rude but let me know that despite the fact I didn’t want a blow dry that it doesn’t matter its included. They would charge me for one ANYWAY… WHAT? So I’ve not gone in and I don’t intend to so well done receptionist. I wondering if that’s why this place is completely dead every time I walk by? Judging by another review here I’m not alone here…

Price is way less as compared to the work they do !

Hours and hours at the gym + Hours and hours running outside without a shirt on to get mah base tan + Adding tattoos to mah bod + Fresh-ta-def haircut for $ 30 and body manscaping(waxing) at Legends for $ 50(it wasn’t so painless, mind you) — — — — — — — — — — — — — — = Jersey Shore season is in full effect The Tiki Bar guidettes will have their tanned Adonis to play with for another summer

After my second great haircut here I can definitely say I love Legends! Booking an appointment is quick and easy. I’ve never had to wait. When I come in, they immediately start on my hair. Estelle is great! She cuts hair beautifully and is so sweet and pleasant to talk to. They offer coffee, tea or water while you’re getting your hair done, and they have you in and out quickly. The prices are really reasonably for the area. It would be nearly impossible to get a better haircut for less. I’ve yet to have a bad experience here, and I’ll definitely be going back for my next cut.

Went there for the first time — didn’t feel like going to NYC to my regular place and got an intern/receptionist to do my hair. Understandable that she’s training and all that but it was just bad. 5min into the cut she was pretty much done — when asked for a more experienced person was told everyone is busy/she is as good as everyone — that was just a joke — had better haircut done in the mall. Got scammed of my money and now have to go to my regular place to fix the damage. No word on regular hairdresser, but it was just bad…

Original Post from 4 Nov 09: They close at 8pm but I called at 7:50PM to see if I could sneak in for a quick cut. No answer. They’re right across the street from where I live, so at 8PM I ran in, seeing that there were people inside still. The owner said«We’re closed». I explained that I had an interview in the AM, that I’d tried to call not 10 minutes previous, and just need a 2″ trim(I have straight, all one length hair). I said they didn’t even need to wash it. I think she reiterated a second time«We’re closed». Another lady(not an owner) graciously agreed to cut my hair… it took a few tries to get it even but I was in and out in maybe 10 minutes. She was very sweet and really tried to get my hair done just right. The owner rang up my bill. $ 45. Forty five dollars for a dry cut? Really? Wow. Fantastic Sams will even wash my hair for a total of $ 15. It was fabulous of them to see me after hours and to accommodate me, but I somehow feel raped on the cost. I looked at their brochure when I got home. $ 30 and up for women’s haircuts… but somehow my simple haircut was $ 45. Ok, so I’d asked them for a favor, so they charged me more. Understandable. I think? — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — Edit: 5 Nov 09 Got up this morning and washed my hair… combed it all out. The right side of my hair is ATLEASTONEINCHLONGER than the left side! Holy crap. I have a very important interview today and so much for my precision haircut. Going to my interview anyways and will stop by the salon with photos from this morning to see if they will make amends. Dropping from 3 to 2 stars for now. Will update tonight. — — — — — — — Edit 11÷5÷9 Evening I went back and a different guy was there cutting hair. I explained the situation to his assistant and he was more than happy to make the situation right. He did a seriously great job… washed me, combed me out, went over my hair for at least half an hour working on it til it was just right and he didn’t take much off but he made all the difference in the world. He blew out my hair with great care and when it was all done, I looked fabulous. He didn’t want to take any money, but I tipped him all the same. If you go here, ask for Martin. He is THE man. 5 stars for Martin. 4 overall.

For my second visit, since Erica is no longer working here, I went to Nicole. Nicole is also blonde so she seemed to understand my concerns with getting the right color and explained what would happen as the old lowlights start growing out. She also did her best to address any other problems I had since I’m picky and not the easiest of customers. Unfortunately, I again left unsatisfied. Conveniently, the owner reached out to me after I posted a negative review requesting that I return to have any problems fixed. I arrived and had the owner look at my hair, commenting out loud that she couldn’t see anything wrong. Way to please your customers! I stopped going here after that. It took my current colorist quite a few visits to undo what was done — I had visible foil lines all throughout my hair. As for esthetician services, don’t get me started… I don’t know who works there presently but I ended up with a serious infection after one visit due to unsanitary tools! Just run.
