Luby’s is my family guilty pleasure. We go there every Wednesday and get treated horrendously by the people serving/grabbing the food. However once you make it through that ordeal, its smooth sailing. The staff for the dining room are so much nicer. Overall, the food is mediocre, nothing exceptional.

good comfort food. you can get a half serving on several of the main dishes and 2 sides to keep costs down. restaurant is clean and wait staff helpful at this location. deducted one star for overly salty chicken fried steak. appreciated the quick drink refills.

The family and I have been coming to this location for at least 20 years. This establishment is clean and well run. The food never disappoints me. The Tilapia is always well prepared and like most of the meals at Luby’s costs less than $ 15.00 when paired with two vegetables and /or sides and a soft white or wheat roll. Like the food, the desserts are well prepared and fresh as food turnover is rather quick at most Luby’s locations due to brisk foot traffic.

Went in at 7:30PM last Wednesday and had some issues the next day. My two year old took an extra day to clear up, but his twin sister faired much, much worse. It is now Sunday and her diarrhea has still not cleared up. Thank god no fever, but her movements have been producing uniformly pale-yellow and very soft stools-like lemon-colored cheez whiz. And the smell– jeezuz! I should have known better as Luby’s seems to be in its death-throes and has been on artificial respiration provided by the denture wearing demographic, and it is about as vibrant as its majority patronage. To be fair there are some that are fine, but this one should be passed. These is a black eyed pea, a Denny’s, an IHOP, and a few more upscale family places that are relatively close, so do yourself and your kids a favor and drive on.

Typically, I eat the fried fish @ Luby’s and most times, it’s delicious. Had the manager’s special Mexican chicken and was disappointed to find seran wrap in my food. Management comped my next meal, but it was some what disappointing.

Had my normal white fish with fried green tomatoes and grilled carrots. Yum! It was great! Great service from Ligia!

Not like Luby’s was when I was a kid. But it is still good comfort food. The breakfast buffet sucks now. They hardly put any selection out. Fried okra, Mac and cheese, those they can still do right

Used the drive-through tonight although it IS the slowest drive-through in town. The system here seems to be broken. There should be a way to streamline the process and I know that the takeout line inside the restaurant is even worse. But sometimes you just don’t want to get out of the car.(Rain) I got the sliced turkey. Too salty to eat. Had to be trashed. They don’t give you cranberry unless you remember to ask. I forgot. The dressing now comes in a little 2 ounce cup. This leaves your turkey/dressing ratio off. A good part of the steamed broccoli was yellow. Defeats the purpose of eating green vegetables. Jello smells like aquarium water. Trashed. Half of roll was stale. Yams were good. I really wish this place was better. Sadly, I feel like the over salting is to cover up old or subpar ingredients. And maybe they could poach some of Chic Filet’s cheerful staff.

This Luby’s location has earned high marks from me. It is clean, the food taste good, they give good service, and there is excellent value for what I pay. Even the Hostess, Lizzy, comes around with a smile on her face with pleasant greetings to check on her customers. Carl is most often my attendant and never lets my water glass go dry. In addition to being attentive, he is very upbeat and helps make my visit a pleasant experience. This rating is comparing this restaurant with other similar price range restaurants. I have eaten here for a year.

The quality of food is poor and food temperature as well. The price can quickly add up which is abut upsetting in my opinion. The jello tastes like it was made with tap water of poor quality and the chocolate moose pie left a lot to desire. The chicken strips were overlooked, I could go on…

Luby’s is a hit or miss type of environment. Most times it’s a miss when I venture from my normal liver & onions order. And even it doesn’t hit the spot sometimes, that’s rare though. I’ve tried the following not including my fave: –pork chop(made me sick, never got it again) –chicken fried chicken(yeah no) –chicken fried steak(disgusting and batter tasted funny) –fried fish(overcooked on the outside, kinda dark looking and not that flaky) –meatloaf(ok but doesn’t hold a candle to my homemade) Sides(tip: you can get 3 instead of 2 for only about a buck more): –fried green tomatoes(cooked too hard) –fried veggies(yum) –fiesta style mac and cheese(delicious) –mixed sauteed veggies(pass) –mashed potatoes(hard to mess that up) –fried okra(love) –new potatoes(again hard to mess up) –broccoli(sauteed and good but basic) Can’t speak on desserts or drinks as they are waaaaay too pricey! Basically Luby’s is just an old people’s joint I go to with my old coworkers lmao And doing this review just points out that their food really isn’t all that good and idk why we go so much!

Not impressed with their Thanksgiving Day food. Using preformed turkey slices that taste better from Hormel or HEB, no cranberry sauce, gravy and feeling ripped off from asking for s side of dressing and only receiving no more than normally comes with the turkey, does not bode well for this location. I ordered through take-out. The cashier was also told not to sell sides, only. However, people were ordering only sides and getting them from another cashier. This will be my last meal purchased at this location. I hated when the one in City Center shut down. One person ahead of me who just ordered gravy was still waiting and complaining as I was leaving.

My review is strictly on the breakfast buffet because that’s all I eat here. The hours for the breakfast bar 7AM till 11AM so if you’re a late sleeper on the weekends like myself it can be pretty tough but it’s worth it if you don’t feel like cooking and they have a great price of $ 5.49. They don’t have very many options which is kind of expected for such a cheap price but they have pretty much enough options for your standard meat filled breakfast. They have two different options of scrambled eggs one that has sausage scrambled in it and then the other various veggies, bacon, sausage patties, biscuits that are really good as well as French toast pancakes and Spanish rice and I also believe I’ve seen refried beans as well. Service is pretty good usually we get the same young lady and it’s important to get in fairly early because the closer to their closing time for breakfast the least fresh the food will be because they’re already loading in the normal lunch options

Give me a Furr’s Cafeteria now! Don’t care for Furr’s family dining but after being bumped on 3 flights on Christmas Eve we ordered take out turkey dinners for Christmas Day thinking we will sit outside and dine by the lake and still call it a traditional turkey feast, not. Our first attempt at eating with Luby’s in this location, the Town & Country had been our haunt for years but moving far west means you have to dine at this Luby’s, not! How one can mess up mashed potatoes and gravy and serve hard stringy okra is beyond my southern upbringing. Take out usually is not this disappointing, awful for service, presentation and quality of food and not the fault of the Styrofoam box, even serving the meal on expensive china it still tasted like garbage which is where my dinner went, no garbage gut for me. This chain is declining just like Furr’s, but faster.

I order out and eat in frequently at Luby’s all over town, most often the one in katy. their food is good. service is good. ambiance is good. i do not understand complaining people. They must have learned that if they slander some one or some entity, it makes them look better. Luby’s is Luby’s no matter where you go.

It was very apparent that the workers hated their jobs. Service was pretty bad, bread wasn’t very fresh, and the food was generally worse than other Luby’s. The silverware bucket was completely empty when I got there, and they never restocked it the whole time, so lots of unsuspecting customers had to go back and ask for silverware once they realized something was missing.

Not sure why this Luby’s gets such low ratings as far as all the Luby’s around town. YES, the prices are outrageous for what you get, IMHO — $ 65(after tip) for four people for cafeteria food when one person got a veggie plate is pretty high. BUT I will say that our waitress was friendly and attentive, liked her alot. and all the food was GREAT — we ate between each other’s plates, and I didn’t taste anything I didn’t like. The chicken parmesan alfredo, the turkey meatloaf, the CFS, greens, mac and cheese(one of the best on the table, yum!), fried okra, fried green tomatoes all very good. and the side salad is VERY good, I will def get that each time I come in. And the strawberry shortcake was AWESOME! Like I said, the Luby prices are way too high to eat it on a regular basis, there are just too many options for made-to-order food around town; but I did enjoy my meal. If you’re a Luby’s fan in general, this is definitely a good one.

I love Luby’s. Have been coming to Luby’s since I was my son’s age(7) and it’s time to carry on the tradition. My entire lifetime coming here, I’ve only ever ordered the same entrée: fried fish. I used to get double mac n cheese but now that I’m an adult I get at least one veggie instead and that rotates between green beans and sweet potatoes. My only complaint with Luby’s is their prices and mainly on drinks. $ 2.99 for a glass of tea? That’s insane. $ 18 for an adult meal is also insane. I learned the trick though. Go to the drive through or pick-up line and order a kids meal. It’s $ 3.23(with tax) and you get same portion sizes for everything PLUS jello and a small drink. :-)
