Too many racks of clothing — hard to get a cart through the clothing area. But the shoes are fantastic. Very nice shoes at great prices. Lots of different styles to choose from. I had a $ 1000 gift card and bought 15 pairs of good quality shoes/boots!

This is an anchor for this outlet mall and it was clean, not well staffed but compared to NM it was a delight to be shopping here. Clean, little activity, found a pair of sandals, waited in line as there was only one check out person, in and out in a record 11 minutes, not one sales person on the floor did I spy. Inventory adequate.

If you’re a guy So5th has some really good treasures, but beware there are a few low quality«designer» goods in the store. I’m impressed that I can find some nice handmade Italian shoes here for a decent price. It seems too many places now sell«designer» shoes that are really just cheaply made Chinese junk with a designer tag on it. Saks does a good job keeping most of the junk off of the shelf, but they still sell some mass produced shoes made with way too much glue and very little stitching. I was recently able to snag some very nice«To Boot» oxfords for a fair price here. Suits suffer from the same issues of the shoes IMO, there are a few poorly made«designer» suites which aren’t even a bargain at the discounted price. However, there is the occasional good deal on Hickey Freeman.

WHYYY do I not come here more often? I absolutely love this place. Every time there is a sale at Nordstrom or Saks at the Galleria, I either find clothes that are ugly, could fit an elephant, equal one month of rent, or a combination of the three. Not here… OFF5th is great! I came here looking for an evening gown last weekend and was pleasantly surprised by their wide selection. They had BCBG Max Azria, Calvin Klein, Nicole Miller, etc. all on a sale rack for at least 50−70% off. I found a gorgeous deep V-neck black Laundry by Shelli Segal evening gown for a little over $ 100(retail ~$ 300). I scurried over to the shoe section afterwards — the sale items were still pricey(only 20−30% off), but the clearance section is where the real treasure is at. I found a strappy black BCBG pump(retail: $ 275), perfect for going out. The real treat was that I was originally willing to pay $ 75 for them, but when I got to the register, they were only $ 55! Score! I forbade(heh, funny word) myself from wandering over to the cocktail dresses or else I would have done some major damage. The men’s selection is really great too — the bf got a Burberry suit once for $ 500(I think) and they had a deal for BOGO on suits one time and he went nuts. They’ve also got four walls of sunglasses for cheap(Fendi, Chanel, etc.) Everything here is categorized and labeled very well. It’s not like the rows and rows of unorganized clearance items at other outlet stores, you know where they shove shirts, pants, skirts all on one rack. Also, if you sign up for their e-mails, they’ll send you coupons for 40% off one item or let you know about current deals(like BOGO suits)…and they don’t bombard you with spam everyday like other stores do — usually only once every 7 – 10 days. Happy shopping!

I wish I lived in Katy so I could shop here more often. Wait, scratch that. I’m glad I don’t live in Katy because all I’d do would be shop here. I’m not much of a shopper. I get bored easily and my feet end up killing me before long since I refuse to wear anything under 3 inches. That being said, I’ll make the exception and let my husband drag me to the Saks Off 5th just so I can splurge on some really marked down items. I always make a beeline for the shoes. Granted, most of the time there isn’t much in my size(why do I wear the most common shoe size?!). I immediately mosey over to the jewelery and watches to see what they have going on(and this isn’t chintzy stuff – I saw some beautiful Roberto Coin pieces last time I was there). I usually mosey over to the women’s section(they have an enormous collection of jeans) and I look at all the gorgeous gowns that they have wishing my husband had a more glamorous job so I could have excuses to dress up. By this time, my husband has found himself a bunch of shirts that a fraction of the price(his size is hard to find, yet he always finds more than a handful that are just right for him). While he’s in line, I jump over to the purses and take a look at what else can tempt me. Their purse collection is much meatier than the one at the Neiman Marcus Last Call, so I usually hunt for purses here. All in all, this store is great for finding what you need. The customer service tends to be much better than the regular store and everything is just so much cheaper – without taking away from quality. It is definitely worth the drive.

Going to Saks Off 5th isn’t about digging through bins and fighting for the last good thing on the sales floor. This outlet does a superb job of keeping everything you love about Saks intact but also brings you deep discounts on amazing merchandise. Although the first thing you’ll see when you walk in the door is their more trendy variety of clothing, Saks Off 5th has many of the classics that have made the store great over the years. And check out the price tags — you’ll get out of here with your great finds for much less than if you tried to stop in their regular locations. I bought my husband a formal winter coat from here. It is a wool and cashmere blend and has timeless stying. It was on sale and I had a coupon so it was a steal. While long winter coats are not often needed in Houston, it was great to find such a classic coat here for those times when one is needed. This coat was a great wardrobe basic that will never go out of style and at Saks Off 5th it was a third of what it would cost at the Galleria. Saks Off 5th also has a sampling of housewares, shoes, handbags and a small area for children. For a while they stopped carrying children’s clothing but now they’re back on the racks again. It’s still pricey for children’s clothing but a great deal if you feel your special little one needs something from Da-Nang or 7 for All Mankind. Saks Off 5th is great. It was the first place I hit when I needed a purse. Three years later I’m still using that same purse and it’s in great condition. One of the best purse buys I’ve ever made and I owe it all to Saks Off 5th. Worth checking out when you want high end items but don’t want the regular price tag that comes with your tres chic accouterments.
