Steaks great, just needed a tad bit of salt. Sauted green beans and truffled Mac and Cheese to die for! First time there but definitely not the last!

Food was awesome, well worth the price. Crab cake was the best I ever had. Lamb chops melt in your mouth fantastic ! The snapper was huge and delicious ! Service was great! Chef checked on us, he is very talented. We will be back. Nice to have such a nice restaurant near by. We had a great 23rd year anniversary dinner ! We will be back.

Best steak in Clear Lake. Classy atmosphere and great service. Think along the lines of Morton’s or Ruth’s Chris, in terms of quality. It’s a bit pricey, but well worth it. Would give 10 stars, if I could.

Good place to have an anniversary meal, but not good for a night out dinner. Very expensive, no very very expensive. I’m talking about $ 60 – 75 steaks, with no sides included. Taste was great, but not $ 60 great.

My husband and I went here for our anniversary dinner. Based on our experience we will not be returning. We went early in the evening, 5 pm when the restaurant opened. We ordered crab cake for appetizer, 1 crab cake for $ 18. The crab cake was full of meat and was good. I would have expected 2 cakes for the price. Our main course I got the 6 oz filet($ 39), ordered medium. Hubby got 16 oz ribeye($ 44), ordered medium, and I also got a side of truffle Mac and cheese($ 8). My filet was way over cooked. Hubby’s ribeye was over cooked, but less over done than mine. We brought it to our waitress’ attention she asked if I wanted another steak and I didn’t want to wait for another one to cook. She took it off if our bill. Hubby said his steak was ok, and the truffle Mac and cheese had a sweetness to it. Overall for the price I expected a lot better food. I have to applaud the waitress that we had. She was a great waitress and made the wrong a lot better to deal with.

I didn’t even set foot in the restaurant but rather called for possible employment. A woman, completely lacking in phone etiquette, answered and claimed to be a bookkeeper/manager but refused to give her name after being asked twice. Be aware of any place that treats any possible employees disrespectfully because they likely treat their employees with equal disrespect. A manager worth their salt should know that potential employees are also potential guests. There is too much competition to accept anything but perfection at a prime steakhouse. Not only will I never eat here but would not grace them with my level of service skill.

The minute you walk in you think that it will be a great meal. The ambiance is good for a date(I was solo as I was on business travel) as they had low lighting and candles. Décor and settings are aged, but still have a nice«vintage» charm. A nice patio seating area is available out back. I chose to sit at the bar. First impression was okay. Then the server started talking… oh boy. The conversation quickly turned from casual conversation about me finding a decent steak into her life story. This was not what I want to discuss while dining on my $ 100 dinner(no sides, just a drink, crab cake and steak)!! She explained she was 2 years removed from a 14 year abusive relationship, how her ex had set her kid on fire in a drunken stupper and that she was going out with this super hot MMA fighter that can kick some ass and model afterwards. Sayyyy whhaaaaaatt??? Another drink pleaaaase! The crab cake was good, not $ 18 good, not the best I’ve ever had(as the menu claims) but good. All meat, no breading but the bottom was slightly over cooked and had a bit of a charred flavor that overpowered the sweetness of the crab meat. Then the steak comes out. I ordered a $ 64 dry aged bone-in ribeye. The cut of meat was fantastic. First bite I cut a piece of the outer eye and BAM; it was like it had been buried in salt. Not a little salty, but more like licking a salt lick. I told the server and she brought the«chef» out. He asked if In would like a baked potato as compensation for the over seasoning. I declined. He was polite and apologized. As I continued eating it I kept thinking to myself that this was the 2nd most expensive steak I’ve had and it was terrible. I asked the server to try a bite. She sent the cook back out and he tried a bite. He agreed he messed up. I explained that a steak of that quality should stand on its own and definitely didn’t need the salt lick treatment. Not once did they offer to take it off the bill or offer something else. Instead they comped me some Macallan 18. Not worth the money. Sorry for the long winded rant. Still feeling burned that I had a mediocre $ 120 meal!

Will not return!!! Ever! Because it was Valentines Day eve, restaurant had a prix fixe menu, which was not specified when I made reservations. This inconvenience wasn’t mentioned until we sat down, and of course any other Kemah area restaurant has at least a 2hr wait for this day. Filet mignon was $ 55!!! Seriously!!! My wife’s fish was oversalted, however the crab cake was pretty decent. Sorry to rant this way, but we weren’t positively impressed!

Awwww man I hate to leave this as a review because the food is so so good. No really… it’s really really delicious. Was just here for Valentine’s Day and it was sub par. We were initially sat upstairs. Don’t ever get sat upstairs. It’s silent and awkward. Badly carpeted floors. Not romantic in the least. We asked to get resat downstairs in bar area. John was a great server despite having to take care of us and the patrons upstairs. We are regular patrons and I have previously posted how delicious their sides, namely green beans, are. However their restricted menu was just that… Restricted. Nothing but carbs. Only options were rice potatoes and truffle Mac. While delicious they were unwilling to sub any other items. Not cool.

We walked into what just looked like a nice house at the beach in Kemah. What we found inside was the perfect setting for a romantic dinner with your favorite someone. We started the meal with one of the best crab cakes we have ever had(and I’m not even the crab cake lover in the family). It was seasoned and cooked perfectly. They brought out a hot warm loaf of bread that was wonderful. This isn’t just some plain bread, it was differently seasoned and had that special difference that just made it yummy. The garlic butter they provided goes well with this bread. For the main course we had an aged filet(6 oz) that was so tender and juicy it melted in my mouth(I know, how does meat melt, but it does!). This too was seasoned AND cooked perfectly. They got each steak spot on to how we ordered it — this seems to be a rarity at many chain steakhouses, so we always appreciate it when they get it right. The main course is ordered separately from the sides which are Á la carte; if you want something with that steak you have to order each individually. We had a salad and baked potato(usual potato and sides) each, and shared the creamed spinach. The spinach was large enough for 2 – 3 people to share. This is a delicious dish. It was a little different because of the larger pieces of bacon, but what doesn’t taste better with bacon. The service could not have been better, but we went at an off hour and had the place to ourselves. We had the staff’s full attention. In fact, the chef came out and checked on us. I can’t say it would be as good if the place was full(I will save that for a future review if/when we return — see below). The food, service, and ambiance here puts this place at the top. With that said, I believe the pricing is a little higher than other restaurants in the same category in the Houston area. For that reason, if I could have given the place 4 ½ stars instead of 5 I would have. It was good, ok VERY good, but just a little pricer than a place of this caliber. Was it delicious — yes, yes it was. Will I return, possibly on a special occasion. Will I recommend, probably, but with a recommendation that it be for something special when you don’t mind spending more than usual.

«Where the steaks and Well-Done, and good service is Very Rare!» Pretty sure I have a picture of the sign with their new motto somewhere. I think it’s pretty hilarious that they are that up-front and honest about their kitchen and service! I’m ALMOST tempted to give them two stars, just because of their honesty and sense of humor while they are screwing you. But really getting yelled and cursed at by the manager because his kitchen doesn’t know how to cook a steak bummed me out and I have to go give that extra star to a place that’ll treat you better. Like maybe McDonalds.

This is a very quaint steakhouse that used to be and still operates as a wine bar. The atmosphere presents more wine bar than steakhouse but you will not regret ordering a meal that you’d find in the latter. The center cut filet was perfectly cooked at medium and we got the truffle Mac and cheese and the creamed spinach. Both are served family style so you can share with 3 – 4 people. They also have a cute courtyard in the back if you are just in the mood for a glass of wine or two. The steak is in my top 5 as I consider myself a steak snob and this was my second time eating it. I would definitely go here again for special occasions on days I didn’t want to be in a crowd of people.

First, let me start off by stating that this place can have amazing steaks. It’s the service that really hurts it’s score. The prices here are commensurate with other high end steakhouses in the Huston Area. You will generally pay $ 35 – 50 for a steak and all sides are a la carte. The problem is that the service is on par with TGI Fridays. We actually had our main courses served at the same time as our appetizers. When we questioned this, they stated they would try to hold our steaks until we were ready. Well 15 minutes later, when the main course was served it was cold. We asked that the steaks be redone and they did, but they would not do any of the sides. So, we ended up having $ 10 side items sitting on the table for 20 minutes as we waited for our steaks. In the end, they double charged us for our steaks. I really had high hopes for this place and I truly believe it can become a great restaurant, but they really need to do something about their service. Untrained high school kids should not be serving at a high end restaurant.

I have been here three times. I split the bone in rib eye with my date and it was plenty of food. Had lobster mac n cheese and the wine list is very good. I live close by and I like to have something extra special occasionally. The ambience is just right. The service has always been very attentive. I was reluctant to give such a positive review because I like that this place is not crowded during the week. It sure should be.

Really sad. This place used to be a hidden jem in Kemah. We used to frequent this place weekly. They have changed the menu. Staff was rude. Wine was old. Drinks were stale. Menu limited. For a wine and cheese plate go to Chelsea wine bar in seabrook tx.

I came here thinking it was wine down bistro(this was a previous restaurant at the same location) and was a bit upset when I found out it wasn’t. however, it turned out to be better than expected. the steak was very tasty — I am not a steak person typically because the steaks I have had in the past have been plain. this was not. very well seasoned and juicy. steaks are not served with sides. instead, they offer family side dishes that serve 2 – 3 people per side. I had the grilled asparagus and it was great. also offer a few fish and chicken dishes. pretty extensive wine menu but ZERO local beers — kind of a let down. all they served was corona, coors, etc. the location is pretty cool. the restaurant is in an old house and has a very nice + old fashioned atmosphere. so I’m going out on a limb here, but if you ever ate at Steak & Ale before they closed down. you will notice that this place has the exact same ambiance. service was really good.

while on a recent trip to Texas i really wanted to spoil my Fiancée and myself with a wonderful steak dinner and The Kemah Steak Company did not disappoint. Though Pricey, the Porterhouse steak that i ordered rare came out just that, beautifully Rare with a sizzle. The Truffle Mac-N-Cheese was delightful and decadent. Overall it was money well spent. I look forward to another amazing meal the next time I’m in the Kemah area.

I have seen this place change hands about 3 times, and at this point, I still don’t think they have it right. I have to agree with the rest of the Unilocal reviews, that the problem lies in the service. It being in my mind, a combination of things: lack of fine dining experience, food/wine knowledge, and the«I just don’t care to deliver at a higher standard» attitude. If you dub yourself a high-end steak house and have price points that further reflect that, then the servers and their table service has to rival that same standard, otherwise the entire dining experience fails. No matter how great the food/drink is. My most recent trip here was over the weekend, when my fella and I popped in for a night cap. When we walked in, which was about 9:30 on a Friday night, the place was completely empty, and a few of the employees exchanged looks almost begging the question of each other — if they were still open. It took a minute, but then they welcomed us in. I asked for an old fashioned, and the young bartender looked utterly confused. The owner/manager quickly chimed in and said that they didn’t have oranges; so that wouldn’t work. I quickly settled for a Manhattan to which he personally saw too; and it was spot on. We also ordered dessert, a cheesecake. Upon its arrival the owner/manager poured an aged port over the top of it; which was totally unexpected or solicited for. Got to say, the port was better than the store-bought cheesecake. This building is beautiful inside/out — they just need to fine tune the meat and potatoes of the joint… Pun intended.

Great martinis. Crab cake to die for — big chunks of crab with very little breadcrumbs. One of the best I’ve ever had. Wedge salad with lots of bacon and chunks of cheese — mmmmm. Blackened red snapper was very fresh and good. Creamed spinach was the star of the meal, surprisingly, with cream and cheese and bacon, and the buttery asparagus was a lovely accompaniment to the fish, perfectly cooked. Service was excellent. Great dinner by any standard.

Had dinner plans at the Wine Down Bistro(which we had never been to). We pulled up and saw Wine Down Bistro’s sign, but also a sign for the Kemah Steak Company, so we were intrigued and confused all at the same time! We walked in and found an incredibly charming set up! Different rooms and a feel from an era long past! We asked the gentleman who greeted us if we were in the right place, and he said yes, that Wine Down Bistro and Kemah Steak Company were one and the same … SWEET! We were seated and presented with the wine list and the menu, but we were waiting on another member of our party to arrive, so we opted to order a cocktail(full bar here, not just wine … WOOHOO!!) and the fruit and cheese platter. Wow wee! The fruit and cheese platter was delightful! It had grapes, all kinds of cheese, prosciutto, nuts and was drizzled with honey. Geez we devoured almost all of it!!! Hubs and I ordered the filet mignon, I got the 8 oz cooked medium rare and hubs got the 12 oz cooked medium. I also ordered a side of asparagus, a side of mushrooms, and he got a side of truffle mac ‘n cheese. The steaks were cooked to perfection and seasoned perfectly! And the prices? OMG they were unbelievably reasonable for those size steaks! I do believe we have a winner here in the Clear Lake Area Ladies and Gents!!! Believe the owner was the lady who would walk around asking how everything was, and she was so sweet! I could not compliment them enough on the amazing food, ambiance and wonderful time we had! We will be back again very soon!!!
