Good solid food soul food! Service 3⁄5 Our waiter was a nice guy who introduced us to the menu and made some recommendations. He checked on us once during the meal but took forever to bring the check. Although I signaled him twice, he ignored me and proceeded to ring out another table. When he stated to bus it, I literally got up and told him to bring the check. Annoying! Quality and Taste 5⁄5 Plentiful portions. I ordered the fried chicken which was everything I hoped it would be. It takes a little longer because it’s made fresh to order. It comes with fries but I ordered Mac n cheese(which was a $ 2 up charge that the waiter didn’t tell me about) and string beans. I didn’t care for the Mac n cheese so I sent it back but there wasn’t anything wrong with it. It just dying fit my taste. The string beans were fantastic! Value 4⁄5 As most airport food, it was a bit overpriced but well worth it. I’d gladly best here again.

It’s in the Airport. It’s as if your quality automatically drops due to inhaling jet fumes. The original is an Opus. A sweet dream of culinary greatness. TOPTHREE meal of my life. That’s how I sold it to my husband. The food at this location makes me eat those words and owe him«favors». His jambalaya was too tomatoey with no actual flavor but lots of heat. Plus he said the taste was of the burnt hard scrapings from the bottom of the pot. No Bueno. My neighbor who is 70 and dad was from NOLA makes better. Wayyyyy better and we can see actual seafood and bay leaves and it ain’t burnt. Plus all we have to do is cut her grass or pull leaves or was her car to get it. The gumbo was good. Flavorful. A lil heat. I wanted a lil more in that bowl though. It was chicken, shrimp and sausage and each came through. The greens were spectacular to ME because they tasted like the West African style greens I make with tons of smoked meats and peppers. My husband didn’t care for them, he was expecting southern style. I totally respect the flavor of the heritage coming through and served to the global masses. Ashé. Respeck. My Bloody Mary was good as expected with the obligatory olives, green beans and celery. No horseradish but peppery flavor. Meh.

How embarrassing for a foodie town like New Orleans to leave their patrons on such a low note as a desperate airport with literally one dining option… clearly no one has connected the dots here. I tried not to touch anything as not much had been wiped off(and where flies abound everywhere) and the tarter sauce instead of ranch dressing and the rotten cucumbers in the salad were a sad testament to someone dropping the ball in New Orleans. What a contrast to the 3 incredible dining experiences we had in New Orleans. Hopefully some leaders step up with the courage to change. The ironic thing here is there is likely lots of money to be made in sending off patrons with there final dining experience being a pleasant one…

OMG… amazing reasonably priced and delicious comfort food. No kidding… our best meal in the post Katrina New Orleans. Try the Oyster Po’ Boy… HUGE lightly breaded fresh oysters on a fresh French roll. Also try the Cajun spiced Roast Beef Po’ Boy… melt in your mouth beef bursting with a friendly Cajun spice. Total bill for two was less than $ 32. And no kidding… very reasonable prices(vs the French Quarter)…friendly staff… and an owner who is still involved in the business at 94 and loved by her employees! This is the New Orleans I remember from 37 years ago!

This place was totally fine for an airport restaurant! Ha! So there you go, take it for what it is people. You can get in here before security of Southwest gates and for that reason alone, eat here vs inside if you have time. I had a very decent burger and a Bloody Mary. Like everything in NOLA, it’s over spiced to some degree but that is my preference. I was fine with the food here and thankful I ate here compared to inside security. Service was fantastic at the bar also.

I am giving this one star based off of(potential) customer service. Upon entering the restaurant with a friend, we were greeted with a «Hostess Will Seat You» sign. We waited behind another customer for about five minutes with no employee in sight. Another man walked in behind us and we said that we were waiting on a hostess. He shook his head and said that it wasn’t a good sign. I should have followed him out of the door. I walked over to the bar area to inquire about the hostess. The bartender and I looked over and there were three additional people waiting to be seated. The bartender said that there is no hostess and pointed at a server for me to ask about seating. I walked toward the server and was going to wait for him to finish talking to a customer at one of his tables. I was immediately greeted with a hand to the face gesture and told, «You can wait.» I was really taken aback and opened my mouth to explain what the bartender said but before I could get it out, he repeated, «You can wait» again. CLEARLY I was not going to eat or wait at a place with such poor customer service. Who knows what they would do to my meal?! My friend and I left. The two men behind us also left. The woman that was in front of us walked toward the bar to see if she could get served there. It’s a shame because I was really looking forward to sharing breakfast with a new friend. This was one of the only sit down restaurants available prior to entering my concourse, the other girl was leaving from a different concourse.

So this place does have some positives– 1. 1 out of the 2 waitesses was working hard 2. Bartender also working hard 3. Kitchen staff also had food food However the negatives out way the positives: 1. Waited 7 minutes for someone to seat is– I then found the waitress and asked do we sit ourselves– she said yes and I’ll bring you a menu 2. One waitess worried about wiping down screens on computers than greeting customers at the door– watched 7 people walk out due to not being greeted 3. Peach cobbler was awful 4. Told the manager and he did not care– I told him the problem was no one was running the place and he said«that’s why I’m here» but nothing changed and he didn’t apologize or ask for suggestions. Also woman was watch the wait staff and kitchen staff and didn’t say a single word or help them at all… Very sad as they have so much potential to be great but failed… Hopefully they will get it together and come out on top but we will not be back for it.:(

1 star because the rice served with my meal was not fresh nor edible; in fact, I couldn’t chew it. Thinking that was an anomaly because this restaurant has an impeccable reputation for serving fresh cooked food and DELICIOUS food., I took a few more bites only to experience the same problem — bite after bite I had to spit out because the rice or whatever it was couldn’t be chewed. I notified my server and she apologized. I asked for and got the meal taking off. Dooky Chase, your kitchen staff is better than this and should have never got caught slipping serving inedible food — seriously. Also, please provide separate fryers for customers with seafood allergies. We learned that was planned by Mgmt but, not in place so my guest had water. Missed opportunity to make $$.

Service was terrible, the place was under-staffed, the assistant manager on duty appeared uninterested in his job. Ditto the bartendress. Fried oysters on the poboy was full of shell. And, being at an airport, we were on a schedule. Pretty sure Leah Chase would not approve. Very disappointing.

Great addition to the southwest terminal of MSY. I loved the triple«B» burger and I thought the prices were reasonable considering it was in an airport restaurant.

I should have known better to think this historical restaurant would be any good at an airport. I really wanted Popeyes, which was closed down. So, I took the advice of the locals and the server and had the creole chicken/jambalaya combo. Horrid! Run, don’t walk when you see this place and go across the way to Dunkin Donuts. Yep, Even Dunkin Donuts is better than Dooky.(No pun intended).

when a turkey sandwich takes over 25 minutes to make, it should be good. this was the worst turkey sandwich i can remember eating. i don’t know why Dookie Chase puts their name on crap like this.

I travel to New Orleans at least twice a year, and was thrilled when Dooky Chase opened a location at MSY. When I ate there for the first time, I ordered the Redfish Orleans and it was one of the best meals I’ve ever had, and this was AIRPORT food. Amazing. Earlier this week I came through New Orleans again and had time for lunch before my flight. Naturally, I went to Dooky Chase and ordered the redfish. When the food came I noticed that it tasted different. I asked the server if the dish was usually served with sauce and she said yes. I asked if she would please bring me a side of sauce, and an extra side of rice, which at the time I fully intended to pay for. After ten minutes(yes, you read that right), she came over with the sauce, but no rice. She said that if I ordered extra rice I would have to pay for it. After another ten-minute wait(!) she brought the rice. This was infuriating not just because I was tired and hungry, and facing a five-hour flight, but also because the restaurant was barely half full. I asked her if she was actually going to charge me for a side of rice after waiting twenty minutes to be served sauce that should have been on the fish to begin with, fish that was by now stone cold. She told me it was company policy to charge for extra sides and that she would have to check with her manager. WHA? After another long wait, the manager came to the table and began to list all of the reasons why I hadn’t received any sauce(the kitchen ran out, the server neglected to tell you, etc etc). When I tried to tell her that none of that was my problem she said that I «wasn’t letting her finish,» immediately putting me on the defensive. Eventually she said that she would be taking care of the side of rice, something she should have done immediately anyway. This is ironic because by then I would have happily paid ten dollars for the rice just to get the hell out of there. After over twenty years working in the restaurant business, I was stunned and angry at the way I was treated, especially considering the wonderful service I have always received at the flagship restaurant in the Treme. Both the server and the manager’s attitudes can only be described as, ‘icy.’ Throughout the entire experience not once did I receive an apology. Sadly, I will never go back to either restaurant. I have to wonder how Miss Chase would feel about losing a loyal customer over a side of rice.

3.5 stars.(For this airport, this is a 4-star spot!) Kitchen was s-l-o-w, server was pretty good. I wish I had time for the fried chicken, but it’s cooked fresh so it’s 20 mins. But I bet it was good. My chicken & shrimp creole $ 14 was lots of food and tasty and plenty enough to set me up before my flight home. I asked the waitress which dessert was the best… I wanted the peach cobbler. She pointed me to the bread and butter pudding«It’s the most authentic dessert.» It was $ 7 which is a bit pricey, but it was 1lb in weight and really, really good. Loaded with calories! :) Dooky Chase is one of the only good restaurants at this airport curb-side — a huge surprise. Even the staff here don’t eat at the air-side restaurants. My cabbie recommended eating here.

Pleasantly surprised to find good food at NOLA airport. The red beans and rice were well flavored, and of great consistency. This airport is a bad place for long waits to takeoff cuz the food is so bad on the other side of security. That being said — service is S L O W here — so if you are on a tight time schedule– this is not a good stop! So glad I came for dinner whilst waiting on a delayed(again) Southwest Airlines flight.

So. Quite frankly I’ve tried gumbo at MANY spots in New Orleans AND Baton Rouge, and THISPLACEHASITDOWN! LOVED my cup of Gumbo… and to think, this was airport food! Amaze. Also… i would have given them a solid five stars IF the greens weren’t terribly dry and grainy. I mean maybe some people go for that but… nah, not I. I also had a serving of peach cobbler. Usually I’m all for a crusty almost pie like crust, theirs reminds me more of bread pudding in texture, but in flavor… it definitely delivers. I absolutely recommend eating here if you have time before or after a flight. I’ll be looking into visiting the actual restaurant when I come back.

Suck. Suckiest. Suckage. Suckfest. Suck it. Suckola. Crappy service. Bad attitudes. Overpriced overcooked food. Worst fried chicken I’ve ever had. Pathetic french fries. Saddest excuse for southern food. Don’t eat here sober.

For an airport restaurant, I am giving the service a 4 and the food a 3.5. Two ladies walk off a plane where they had been crammed in with a 3rd plus sized man and boy were their arms tired! Seriously, it takes a lot of effort to keep from putting your arms all over the person sitting next to you… So, starving and thirsty they go off searching for caffeine. Subway? In New Orelans? No way! Dunkin Donuts? Sigh. Bring on the local fare! After asking the nice girl who works at the Praline store(who called us «y’all») where we should go eat, she said Dooky Chase had really good food. We were so feint from hunger that we forgot to pick up our bags first from luggage claim and went straight for sustenance. I had the roast beef po-boy $ 11which was topped with a brown gravy with a little kick and dressed with lettuce, tomato, pickles and mayo. Delicious but a bit salty. The baguette was somewhat steamed and was surprisingly too chewy. Served with fries which were yummy. The 3 pieces fried chicken $ 11 was upgraded to all white meat for an additional $ 3. Two large breasts and a little chicken wing. Spicy but not sure it was worth $ 14 with fries. Again, heavy handed with the salt. Lisa our server was not overly friendly but she made some recommendations. She was on top of our disappearing sodas. When I didn’t want her to top me off, she came back with an extra glass for when I was ready. Dang. That was really sweet of her! We were hungry and thirsty. We drank a lot of soda but didn’t clean our plates. i think that speaks volumes. We didn’t stay to try dessert but who knows what will happen on the flight home Sunday. I am willing to come back and try something else and shoot for a higher review!

Here on business again and was so excited to get my favorite airport dish that sent me into Heaven last time. Unfortunately not consistent and no where close to blowing my mind like last time. I ordered the same dish as last time 3 piece chicken side of red beans instead of fries and this time a side of stewed okra. My first visit notice my picture, my red beans had green onions on top and sprinkled on the plate for taste and presentation, it added a perfect bite. This time no green onions so I had to ask my waitress Ernell(who was amazing) for a side. Then I bit into my chicken it was over fried and didn’t taste fresh. You know when you pull the skin off a piece of chicken the flesh should be white and glistening… It was dull gray with brown spots that’s how I knew it was over cooked. The okra was good but I wouldn’t order it again it didn’t blow my mind. Sad to say I felt like I was at a fast food chicken place with a drive thru right before they close… I’m sad due to the fact it completely blew my mind before… Key to my heart as a foodie, be Consistent!!!
