Absolutely awful. Margaritas were terrible. Way too sweet. My chimichanga was not fried. The rice had no seasoning. The health department needs to be called, just on the bathroom alone. It looks as if they haven’t cleaned it in months. The only good thing was our waitress was very nice!

We got right in with a large group which was nice, as it was lunchtime on a Saturday, but the positives end there. Chips were cold, salsa fairly generic, and the food was only mediocre at best. I ordered Carne Asada, which should be fairly hard to get wrong, but the flank steak was tough, poorly seasoned and over done. The rice and beans, also a pretty hard thing to screw up, we’re not warm… The final nail in this coffin was the margarita. Ordered an original lime on the rocks, and received an overly sweet sugar bomb of pre concocted mix with sub par tequila. I guess others already know this and that’s why we got in so easily… no one else wants to go back.

Love this place!!! The molcajete de mariscos ROCKS gotta take it down with a Dos Equis. Padrino Lupe had some camarones con tocino he said they also ROCKED.

This is our go-to place for Mexican. It is usually quiet, has HUGE tables so big parties are never a problem and the service is great. Food is delicious, portions are HUGE too. :) When friends from out of town want Mexican food, this is where I recommend.

Delicious food. Salsa is amazing. Had the deluxe burrito(was on special). Was very good. Rice and beans seem healthier than other places, less greasy.

It took for ever for someone to take our drink order, then he couldn’t make it right, food didn’t even taste like good Mexican, were they trying to Americanize it… I would not go back. Staff was very friendly but clueless to what needed to be done. We had to flag down a bus girl to get the picadillo that was order 15 minutes prior… We wanted it before our dinner was to arrive

Really enjoyed the food and service here. We were given a basket of tortilla chips and some amazing salsa to start. I ordered 3 tacos(which was about 1 too many for me) and my husband got one of those bigger plates(which he also found too much, but finished the whole plate anyway because it was so good.) My soft tacos were delicious! My favourite’s the steak taco! The steak pieces were good but the accompaniment in the taco was the delicious part(imo). We will definitely go back for some more! We went in the daytime so we didn’t try their margaritas but I’ve read great things here and will think about getting a group of friends to come and try them next time!

After a long day of lacrosse the team celebrated our wins plus our goalies birthday here before we headed back to Spokane. All the portions were generous and flavorful. I enjoyed a Cucumber Margarita that was amazing. Its location is hidden so maybe folks in Kennewick forget about it. If you have a large party this is a place to consider.

Pros: Good drink menu, tasty margaritas, fiancé loved his steak nachos. Chips and salsa are authentic and spicy. Service was great. Cons: My burrito was inedible. The pork was not good and the rest was bland, lukewarm, and expensive for what tasted like a frozen burrito. Somewhat expensive for Mexican food.

Cinco de mayo is literally my favorite Mexican family style restaurant in Tri cities. The cinco de mayo plate with a few cold dos Equis XX beers is to die for. Come hang out at the bar, chat with the owner fidencio and enjoy an amazing traditional meal! If you live here locally, you realize the area is flooded with traditional family style Mexican restaurants. I doubt I will ever try more than about 15% of them all. That being said, of the ones I try or frequent, this is my favorite so I have rated it as such. I have a personal connection here so that probably helps, but I still have never had a bad meal, service or experience.

I’ve gone here twice now. the first time was not very good, but the reviews are good so I thought maybe I just went there on an off day and next time would be better. no! it got worse. I ordered to-go. i got the 3 combo meal, the rice was still half frozen, the center of the enchilada was very cold. and I live literally about 2 minutes driving from the restaurant. I got a huge bag of chips with my meal, and only ONE tiny cup of salsa… one! there were things missing from my order as well. they also said to be there in five minutes, which I felt was really fast, so I came in ten, and still had to wait another five minutes before the food was done. Even if the food was piping hot, it tastes like garbage. I am not a picky eater by any means, but seriously this place is gross… the food is nasty, the service is horrid, the atmosphere is lacking(and not very nice looking), but I will say this, they give you a massive amount of food on the plate. its unfortunate that food is hardly edible and what I did eat ended up making me sick.

Food was fantastic as always. Nice and fresh corn tortillas. Had the Chile Verde and it was excellent. Salsa is really good and just enough spice to appeal to the masses. I would prefer a littler spicier but most would find it very good. The server is the same person I have had every time and she is very nice and attentive. I have been here more than 10 times and never had a single complaint. I am shocked that they are never busy.

The margaritas and appetizers are yummy and generously sized. I was just here yesterday with a group of about 30 and the service was superb!

Decent Mexican food, and they had good suggestions for a vegetarian dinner, which is unusual in a small town Mexican restaurant. A bit tricky to find, but worth it. Their prices were reasonable, we were seated quickly, and the food was tasty.

Place looks very nice and is clean. Food is good, especially #27 the Carnitas Burrito, but average overall(I know that rice and beans are just side items, but I really have had better other places) and Cinco de Mayo is also a little more pricey compared to similar places(a lot of dishes are around $ 12.95 where the same dish would be around $ 9.95 elsewhere). Service was very slow(even as we were only the second group of people in the whole restaurant), sometimes we felt forgotten as our waitress would just disappear into the back kitchen and hardly ever come out. That having been said, our server was very nice and helpful… when we saw her. Our drink glasses were empty far too often. Still though, very pleasant atmosphere, better than most of the other places in town, just wish the food and service were a little(ok, a lot) better. Three stars is probably too generous(according to my wife and I agree with her) but since my Carnitas Burrito was so delicious, the place has great atmosphere, and the food arrived in a decent amount of time, I’m giving them a pass on the slow service… this time.

Huge menu, awesome food, good prices… can’t go wrong! I used to always get the fish tacos(they don’t use frozen fish patties like most places, but actually use pieces of real fish) but recently started venturing out a bit and trying different items; I’ve yet to be disappointed. Be aware, the number listed is actually for the Kennewick Casa Chapalla, not the Richland Chapala Express. Here’s the number for Chapala Express +1(509) 943‑6589

I don’t know what it is about this place, but I LOVE it. Not the most authentic, mostly just cheap, fast Mexican food. But it is really good. I love the chicken burrito. Service is pretty good, sometimes they get overwhelmed if it is super busy, but for the most part I have been happy with it. Chips and salsa and bean dip included in every order. Mmmmm.

This is my favorite Mexican restaurant ever! The food is great. The service is great. They know their loyal customers and treat them wonderfully. If by any chance you went there on cinco de mayo, you may have had less than the normal stellar service. I can honestly say I have never seen that place so packed, so don’t judge them on that night!
