The«real» cheese that they use on their sandwiches are kraft singles. I feel bad saying this but it was hands down the worst food I’ve eaten in the tri cities. It was also VERY dirty and confined. The only plus… Wait staff was very polite. I’m not sure where these awesome reviews are coming from.

The waitress was very attentive and friendly, BUT… I like to go to small independent places, rather than Corporate chain places. I ordered Chicken Fried Steak & eggs. The home fries were very, very good, but could use a bit less butter to cook it in. The eggs were cooked properly to my order, and the toast perfect. However, the Chicken Fried Steak was awful… tasted kind of weird, like maybe the meat was old, and it was chewy almost like bubble gum. There seems to be a large contingent of regulars, so perhaps I just caught them on a «bad meat» day. The only thing that slightly annoyed me was the waitress seemed a bit disbelieving regarding my opinion on the steak. However, they quickly offered to comp my entire breakfast. I don’t believe I should eat for free, and willingly paid for the rest. Because of the offer, and the attentiveness of the staff I left a generous tip. I will probably give them another try the next time I’m driving between Vancouver and Spokane. Small businesses are the history and lifeblood of America and deserve a second chance. Hopefully my experience was an aberration rather than the norm. I guess I’ll find out next time.

First impression from the outside,” looks like an average café shack”. I expected that the food would be mediocre and service would be average, I wasn’t too far from my expectations. — waitress was kind, polite and welcoming — food was cooked with a lot of butter — chicken breast wasn’t your typical chicken breast, it had more of a texture like fish and most likely wasn’t chicken breast at all. — low stock of inventory —(looks)can’t expect much from a small shack, wasn’t really dirty but wasn’t spotless — bathroom, super tiny and the sink was small compared to the faucet, that it was almost impossible to wash your hands without touching the sink itself. I myself would not come back unless they had a complete makeover and an investor invest at least 50k into them. If you’r absolutely starving than sure why not come sit down and eat at jakes!

You never know when you try a divey diner what you’re in for. Prices of specials looked good($ 5 – 6) and the server was friendly. Our food was just kind of generic. A few notes, my biscuits/gravy tasted musty/mildewy(not a first time occurance for me in genera, possibly not Jakes fault) and my dining companion had eggs with some crunch(eggshells…mm calcium carbonate). I probably would not go back. We saw(on Unilocal) there’s a BBQ slash espresso joint so that seems promising! Sorry Jake! Oh also the bathrooms were almost inhumanly tiny.

You absolutely can not go wrong with Jake’s for breakfast! I have eaten here several times and every time I think«why don’t I come here more often?!» The restaurant is clean, the waitress is bubbly and super friendly, and the food is quality. It is fun because you can see the chef working in the kitchen, and he always says hi and greets you with a friendly smile. Can’t go wrong with the pancakes. They are fluffy and light, and perfectly browned. This restaurant is kid-friendly(they have 2 high chairs), but no large tables. Only booths.

I have eaten here several times. I didn’t review it till now because I wanted to give it a second chance. On the menu it says best breakfast in town! meh. My first trip I got the chicken fried steak home fries and eggs. The chicken fried steak was good, I have had much better and much much much worse. Service was ok, the waitress /owner I think, is friendly. I feel that this meal was way way over priced. Cost me right around $ 15 for breakfast! On my second trip I tried out an omelet. The Hawaiian omelet. it was large as it filled my big plate but the egg was really thin and not fluffy at all it had tiny little diced ham pieces in it pineapple chunks and cheese. It tasted like melted american cheese and that was really all I could taste. Both of these trips I got hash browns(home fries) they or decent cooked all the way with good seasoning. I was impressed because it was one of the few places were they spread butter on the whole piece of toast and not just a little in the center. This trip cost right at $ 10 bucks. Don’t get me wrong. They do what you would expect a highway side diner to do and they do that pretty well. I just know that within a 10 min drive I can get better and less expensive breakfast. Positive side note: They are open 7 days a week.

My coffee creamer had chunks! It was rotten, my server was like«again?» then they only offered to take my coffee off the tab. I threw up my whole meal and shouldn’t have paid for any of it.

Jake’s Café is a Diner from the past … and that’s cool! … It’s located on HwY 395 next to the Tesoro Gas Station before 10th Street(if heading South). When you enter you are greeted by either the waitress(Lisa) or her mother(Dixie). There are approximately(8) booths on one wall … with a counter with ~12 stools on the opposite side. It’s open from 6:00AM to 3:00PM everyday. We came for breakfast and the place was packed with local Kennewick natives… it was a blast… Mid-west fare … large portions… your coffe cup never gets empty … say hello to Kevin the cook on the way out… we will be back.

came here because a friend i was visiting suggested to come here for breakfast. she loves the biscuit and gravy. this is a trucker stop eatery, located right next to a gas station. looks like a small diner when youre seated inside and youre welcomed with that greasy diner smell. the waitress forgot a few side orders, but she was friendly. hash browns that came with my plate were a bit burnt. food overall was ok. this wasnt some place to write home about.

My wife and I are real affectionados of good old-fashioned greasy spoon cafes. If you are looking for great eggs, pancakes, chicken-fried steak, and plain black coffee… this is your mecca. Probably the best breakfast in 100 mile radius of here! They are attached to a really crappy gas station right on HWY395.
