Im visiting from out of state. So I stop by this restaurant before I go check into my hotel. I had two orders: beef yakisoba with rice and veggie yakisoba with just extra veggies instead of the meat –because I don’t like meat. When I get home I find out that both of my orders were meat:/ But no big deal-I just call and tell them what happened and asked if I could go pick up my CORRECT order(I just wanted to eat what I paid for) but they said it was too late because they were going to close. Okay, so I understand that its close to they’re closing time so I ask how can this be corrected, like maybe tomorrow or get my money back– and they say«no-it’s closing time» …just that. No sorry. No interest in following up with they’re error.

Small hole in the wall with awesome teriyaki! Very reasonable prices and they always have some type of special going on. Be warned however, their hours are a bit funky.

For my birthday I wanted to try an Asian restaurant that I hadn’t been to before; I chose Toeshi Teriyaki and Korean. The sound of crickets greeted us as we entered the twelve table restaurant on a Friday night around 6 pm. Still, many of these small restaurants tend to do a thriving takeout business so the lack of customers didn’t mean much. Our waiter was prompt and recommended the teriyaki chicken and gyoza to me while others in my party ordered seafood teriyaki and a chicken teriyaki with shrimp tempura. We were served miso soup as part of the meal but it was pretty plain and just didn’t taste quite right. After an age, it came to our table on three non-descript plates. I guess I’m used to a little flair when having Asian cuisine like compartmentalized trays or decorative plates but not here. Now a word about teriyaki; it is a traditional Japanese dish where meat, typically fish, is cooked on a grill while being gently basted with a salty, sweet, and slightly thick teriyaki sauce. The meat may be marinated prior to grilling but it is always basted. In the US it is often served with more teriyaki sauce on top making it something like a Japanese BBQ. The key is it is not served dry, as was presented to me at Toeshi. Not to be picky but if teriyaki is in your name you would think you’d know not to serve it dry. There was a bottle of something called teriyaki sauce on the table but it was a thin, flavorless sauce lacking many of the characteristics of real teriyaki sauce. No matter how much I used, it still didn’t help the dish. My dinner mates complained of dryness in their meals, even the salad seemed dry to one! The gyoza was OK though the gyoza sauce was pretty plain too and reminded me of the«teriyaki» sauce. Other diners joined us in the small restaurant, many with children. Some of their dishes, like a Korean bulgoli and bibimbop looked pretty good. Overall, we had very, very mediocre teriyaki which didn’t really deserve the name teriyaki since it was neither basted nor marinated nor served with actual teriyaki sauce resulting in a dry and boring meal. I think their Korean dishes are probably decent but steer clear of the teriyaki IMHO.

Great food and great service, it’s the type of food that makes your stomach happy when you leave.

I love Korean and the came for Korean, perhaps my mistake. I think their teriyaki must be their forte. The Bimibap was a «C» grade, there green tea weak, and their kimchi was not kimchi. Kimchi is pickeled cabbage. What they gave me was tasteless wilted cabbage with very little flavor. I know good Korean and love good Korean, so don’t look for it here. On the plus side, their tempura was quite good and the service was quick and polite. So I gave them three stars.

Really good Asian food, a little bit more upscale, a little bit more authentic. I grew up reading good Korean good my mom cooked. Outside of an Asian town or Korea, this has been the closest to home. I had the sundubu(spicy seafood soup). It was served in the traditional stone bowl, sizzling hot. The boyfriend had bulgogi(at my insistence). I’m partial to my family’s bulgogi, but toshis was quite respectable. They boyfriend also said the teriyaki sauce was some of the best around here. He fancies himself a teriyaki conesseur, and we have been to a lot of different teriyaki joints, so I’ll believe him. The overall atmosphere was nice. It was quiet, relaxing, tastefully decorated. Highly recommended. This place is on my short list of places to go back to and try more dishes.

Update as of July 16, 2015. Back in town and couldn’t wait to eat at Toeshi. Great food, friendly wait staff and excellent Kimchi. Thanks again Toeshi! @@@@@@@ First time staying in the area and looking for authentic diversity not found in the countless chain restaurants… we definitely found what we hungered for at Toeshi Teriyaki & Korean! I don’t have a lot of experience with Korean food so I am no means a critic — however, a self proclaimed foodie I am. Wife started with the Gyoza, have had this before and it was on par with what I would expect. Ordered Daeji Bulgogi and the Kalbi with the intent of sharing. The Daeji Bulgogi was excellent, spices pieces of marinated pork that left each mouthful anticipating the next bite… just delicious! The Kalbi was basically a Korean BBQ short rib and although it was tasty simply didn’t compare with the satisfaction of the Daeji Bulgogi, let’s just say the wife got nary the taste of my precious spices pork! I have developed quite the craving for Kimchi over the past and was highly anticipating trying my first Korean Kimchi as previous experiences were from Japanese restaurants. All I can say is, «Wow!» if you enjoy Kimchi Toeshi has a great flavor. I will definitely return and will order my precious Daeji Bulgogi and extra large Kimchi. The wife will need to get her own!

Beyond disappointed is putting it mildly and quite annoyed is closer to my feelings. If you’ve never had Korean food before, then this may taste good to you. However, if you’re quite familiar with it and have a palate for it, you’ll be pissed that you spent $ 10.50 on a sad looking bi bim bop like myself. First, the bi bim bop is supposed to have a sunny side up egg with a cooked bottom. What I received was a deep fried, hard egg. When I broke into it, it was all hard yolk. Not appetizing at all. The veggies were also limited. Second, the amount of beef they put in that dish was insulting for the amount they charge. I think you get about 4 pieces of bulgogi cut up, if that. It wasn’t even enough to feed a small child. Third, their ban chan was not fresh, nor tasty. The cucumber was a bit soggy and the kimchee tasted like it came out of a jar. Pretty sure it was. As for their teriyaki dish with gyoza, it was also disappointing. The chicken was super dry. The gyoza was the standard frozen type that you deep fry. Overall, the food was just not good. The waitress was nice, hence the 2 stars. 1 star for the food and 1 star for the service. I definitely would not go back. For better Korean, I’ll stick to Rice and Noodles in Pasco.

They have the best Korean BBQ beef in town. The teriyaki dishes are always very solid. I recommended the food. It closes a little early and the interior could use some updating.

5 star food, 3 star service. Food is always excellent, but if they are busy, such as lunch time, service is a little slow, as there is usually only one counter girl /waitress. Very friendly though and tries her best to keep up. The beef and chicken teriyaki are good, but excellent when ordered spicy. Ordering spicy seems to add extra flavor. Beware, a 2 or 3 star hot here is equal to a 5+ star elsewhere.

We’ve been to this place a few times now. Like a lot of Asian places the décor is somewhat lacking. The service is good, the server friendly. The food quality is good and the prices are fair. Their selection of korean dishes is wide. We really like to come here a couple times a month. We strongly recommend this place.

Really disappointed. Friday night, food was poor. Tasted like microwaved korean pork with bbq sauce. Tempura was blanched looking. We should have taken the clue that there were only 3 cars in the parking lot and went elsewhere. Oh, well, just sharing this to save someone else a wasted 60.00. Service was ok. No manager walked around to check on us otherwise this review probably would be a little better.

My first time at a korean restaurant. This is a damily restaurant, where the owners, also cook. Service was lovely and everything was original. I came with my coworker, that lived in Korea for couple years and he agreed that this place it is authentic. I loved. Definitely would come back if I were local.

Very good food as usual. Nothing fancy, but that’s not what it’s about. Priced fair. Small quiet place good for date night. They are very accommodating for gluten free. Will make what you want or need. Will be back as usual.

Not bad not great. Had chicken teriyaki with gyoza. Food fresh, amply portioned. Plain, nothing fancy, fairly priced. What can I say it was lunch. Appears clean and well run

After a long break while we lived across the country, we’ve been back a few times since moving home. All still very good and picky parent friendly. Only complaint is the miso has just been okay, the last time it was very watered down with very little flavor. We ended up finding another restaurant with previously meh miso is making it just like Toeshi’s used to.

I have not tried their sushi but their teriyaki and Korean food have been very disappointing. They took over a half hour making our food during a slow part of the day where there was only one other person in the restaurant with us. Not only did the food taste inauthentic, but the meat was old and tough. The rice was overcooked and the kimchee tasted like they had salted it. For a restaurant that charges the prices that they do, this was downright unacceptable.

Place is very quaint and family run. Parents are the cooks and son does all the waiting on tables. The service was good, but when the place gets busy service slows down. I had the Chicken and Pork Teriyaki and a couple of egg rolls as an appetizer. Everything was cooked nicely and presentation was good. The Teriyaki sauce was okay a little runny and kind of bland. Only not refill on the drink though despite being charged what most places charge for a bottomless cup. All and all I would say it was average, but next time I will have to try some of the more traditional Korean dishes to really give it a fair assessment.

A-OK is the appropriate description for this on-the-beaten-path restaurant right across the street from the Columbia Center Mall. My husband ordered the bibimbap – his go-to order at a Korean restaurant. Not the best he’s had and not the worst. This particular one came with a fried egg, veggies, and rice. I typical expect bibimbap to be served in a hot dish where the egg runs into the rice and veggies and cooks in the dish. This one had a fried egg on top. I order the bulgogi. My favorite aspect? The bulgogi served in a cow platter! *chuckle chuckle* Otherwise, it was flavorful enough with a good portion to boot. Served with cabbage kimchi and cucumber kimchi. For the price and location, not bad.
