This is very sad to say, but the Alamo is gone. It has been replaced with a douchey spot.

When the Smallest Bar was closing one night, we asked the bartender where he’d go if he were us, and he sent us to El Alamo. What I liked about this place: there was live music and a fairly decent crowd, but it was more low-key than some of the other Duval spots. I felt like we were among locals, or at least tourists in the know. We ended up stopping here several nights on our trip, and there was always a good band playing. The crowd skewed a bit toward hippie, but I’m not at all a hippie, and felt quite comfy here. Dress is casual. Service at the bar was fast and friendly, and the drinks were decently priced. I didn’t eat, but some of the bar food looked tasty for a late-night bite, too! This is mostly an outdoor bar with dim lights and lots of space. I probably would not go if it was cold or raining.

SOMUCHFUN. well, that also depends on the group that you’re with. It’s a ton of fun when a good band is playing, and I was fortunate enough to be there for that. I think they have some bar games to play, but to be honest, my memory doesn’t serve me well. All I know, I had a blast.

Located on Charles Street, just across the street from Sloppy Joe’s that features live music nightly this place is fun. Sure, you have to walk down from Duval but it is worth it. Terrific bartender and seriously good drink prices and specials. A locals bar with locals prices. There is a pool table, a place for beer pong, a stage for live musc, an open courtyard. This joint could definitely be jumping.
