I knew this place was going to be good as soon as I walked in and saw the beautiful waterfall glass in the entry way. The ambience of this place is beautiful. The inside is not very large, so I’m sure there is probably a long wait time during the weekend busy hours, so I recommend coming here on a weekday. Before the food comes out, they serve you these unique rice chips, which actually tastes pretty similar to pork rinds! I don’t know much about Vietnamese food, so I ordered the pineapple shrimp fried rice. It was very good, and the shrimp were huge. I didn’t care for the scallions because they had this awful strong taste that overpowered each bite. I loved how the rice was inside of an actual pineapple, and the pineapple flavor was really tasty with the rice and shrimp. The service was also really good. This place is a little pricey, my shrimp fried rice meal was nearly $ 20, so I recommend going during happy hour for some of their discount prices. There’s also a full bar inside.

The«banh mi bites» are so good, so is the phở and dang ribeye. Can’t wait to try the other items on the menu.

Very interesting menu with a wide variety. The food was very good. One of the things interesting were the variety of non-alcoholic drinks for non-drinkers. We did not have any appetizers but got the main dishes which come with enough sides. The ribeye was very good if you like teriyaki style marinade. My wife had shrimp which she liked and she is not a big seafood person. The whole meal had interesting flavors. The service was good.

The place is has an upscale feel, good service, gorgeous presentation. The quality of the meat on the dishes isn’t good, dark meat chicken, fatty grisly steak. Prices are high and we felt cheated. Waitress I’m sure noticed we had spit out most of the meat, never asked If we enjoyed it, just scooped up the plates. They really know how to present lettuce in a beautiful way, but I won’t be going back. See Kevin M.‘s review, it’s reflective of our experience.

My wife and I went to Blu Basil for the first time this past weekend based on a lot of positive recommendations from friends. We were very impressed with the interior and dining experience. Reminded us a lot of PF Chang’s. Nice bar with great décor. The food experience started out great. Free rice chips were very good. We started with the chicken lettuce wrap appetizer. Great flavor — highly recommended. And then the main course and our disappointment. I had the shrimp vermicelli noodle bowl. Kind of bland. Not necessarily a «hot» meal. I’ve never had Vietnamese food, so maybe that’s the way it’s supposed to be. I would likely not have this again. There were too many other items on the menu I would like to try next time. My wife had the Shaken Beef — highly recommended by the waitress per other customers. She decided to splurge and get filet. The first time her dish was brought out, the meet was very raw — after she requested«medium». They took it back and returned later with the the meat cooked as desired, but VERY fatty — particularly for filet which typically has NO fat. Plus — the price is much higher. Ultimately, she ate very little of the meat. The waitress and manager did respond to our issues by reducing our bill for ½ of our appetizer and for the entire beef dish. We were disappointed with our first experience, but will likely return at some point in time. Just be careful what you order if you go. And to the restaurant — You need BETTER quality beef. Particularly, if you are advertising the beef cut as «filet» and charging for it.

This place has fantastic phở and the small size is plenty for one person. The wine list is unexceptional, but there are a good variety of bottles to choose from that are less than $ 35. Our server was attentive and knew the wines well; we were very pleased with her recommendation. A great place to eat.

I’m a Vietnamese food fanatic. I’ve eaten it all over the country. Blu Basil is phenomenal! The interior is beautifully decorated. Great atmosphere. I ordered the shrimp and pork summer rolls. The pork was smoked. The dressings were a house made. Absolutely incredible! I also ordered the grilled shrimp vermicelli noodle bowl. It was the best vermicelli I’ve ever had. I would rank Blu Basil in my top 2 Vietnamese that I’ve ever had! A definite must try in Lafayette!

Brought my mother and family here for a birthday celebration and boy were we imressed! Every single dish was prepared beautifully and was absolutely delicious. The pork belly slider was so moist and rich, the beef in the noodle bowl was tender and bursting with bbq flavor. The shrimp and pineapple fried rice was served in a pineapple and shared amongst the entire table of 6. We will definitely be back to this restaurant.

The restaurant is beautiful inside. I really thought it would be huge from its outside appearance but it’s actually kind of small. Our waitress was very nice and our service was perfect. The owner came out to greet and chat with us for a bit. We ordered the chicken wing appetizer. I forgot the name of it. It was really good. But a bit over priced. My husband ordered his usual Vietnamese favorite, the chicken phở. He liked it, it wasn’t very«cinnamony» which is how we like our phở. Once again, it was good, but over priced for phở. This may be because I’m Viet and used to paying certain prices for items. I ordered the rice plate with chicken, baked egg cake, over easy eggs and beef with skin over rice. It was very tastey but over priced. My overall experience was good. I would return because it was very tastey but each item was over priced by 2 – 3 dollars.

Yummm Blu Basil… I had the pleasure if taking my mom out to eat for her first vietnamese experience. Let me tell you… this place was EXCEPTIONAL. We chose to eat here for lunch on a Saturday, I believe. Upon first walking in, we were immediately impressed with the décor. It surpassed my expectations, and they did a wonderful job with the renovation of the old Chung King space. There was no wait, so we were seated immediately. Our server, whose name I can’t remember for the life of me, was wonderful. One of those rare experiences where you feel like your server enjoys what she does, likes making recommendations and actually GETS you as a customer. This was a very big help for my mom especially, since this was her first time eating vietnamese food. In the end, with our servers help, we ordered two vermicelli bowls. One short rib for my mom and a shrimp for me. I’m a sucker for shrimp vermicelli during every vietnamese experience… but that is neither here nor there. MYMOMOUT-ORDEREDME! Those short ribs were INSANE. To be fair, I have not had vietnamese short ribs before so my opinion could be skewed. However, I AM from the South so I’ve had my fair share of ribs. And forgive me Dad, but you’ve been beaten. Don’t get me wrong, my shrimp dish was good. It was everything that shrimp vermicelli usually offers… fresh, light, but full of flavor. But it didn’t hold a candle to those short ribs. Whenever I am back in Lafayette and in the mood for vietnamese, I will be back! Next to try– the bahn mi! Cheers :)

I threw my husband a surprise birthday party here. They usually do not take reservations, but they accommodated me for his surprise. I was very appreciative. The service was excellent. We had 20+ people and one server. Abby did an awesome job! The food was even better than the«mother» restaurant, and we LOVE Saigon Noodle! No one had a problem with what they ordered. All the food came out correct and in a timely fashion. It was a first time for most of the people in our party. They all said they would return. The interior is very modern. My only complaint was that there is no changing table in the restroom. I realize that this place is more of a date night restaurant, but it is a needed convenience for people like us who do not have a sitter or family to leave our child with.

Very nice exterior. inviting without being insisting and cliché. Really classy earthtone modern-minimal interior decorating, stylishly keeping Asian homage in chic rain-window-panel wall dividers, abalone stone mosaic accents, bamboo pillar low hung natural glow illumination, and mahogany dojo-esque shelving, and audibly lightly draped in ambient /chillout non intrusive dinner friendly electronic music. Great menu. Not a thousand items like familiar culinary genre eateries. Neatly packaged with standard phở entrees, but nice additions of hot pot filet mignon slices that you cook to your preferred temp, basil sauteed crab claws, and pork banh mi sliders that I’ve been raved to about, and was looking forward to trying. Excellent. think Asian seared pork strip /cucumber shavings /alfalfa sprouts based poboy on lightly crisp french bread. Excellent wine pairings. My 12 and 6 year old sons ate even the most esoteric menu items. Very mature, warm, and not ‘pushy’ service. Im not a fan of most of Lafayette restaurants. This place won me over in stars in all categories. Get here before other places. Tops.

This new Viet restaurant is the ‘sister’ restaurant to Saigon Noodles. one of the best Asian restaurants in Lafayette. Tam, the owner of this place and Saigon Noodles, has created a beautiful and upscale décor in the space one occupied by Chung King. Beautiful bar, modern décor with large bamboo, brick and other interesting design elements create a clean and pleasant dining experience. And while they are currently only open for dinner, Blue Basil will be opening for lunch within the next few weeks. The Viet cuisine does not disappoint either. The brisket Phở was delicious, as were the Asian-style buffalo wings and the pork spring rolls. The menu is a bit more upscale than Saigon Noodles, and features a bunch of interesting dishes that I need to go back to try. If you’re looking for a new place to take your date or family that has some sensational Asian food, Blu Basil would be the place to go.

The restaurant owners are the same as a popular Vietnamese noodle house called Saigon Noodles. The food is just as tasty, but the atmosphere is much more modern and they have a great bar. The only downfall was that the service was slow, but I went there on opening night so I can’t complain too much.
