This place lures you in with specials however I would keep on driving. Slow service(half the tables were empty), no refills on coffee, toast is hard as a rock(homemade toast was even worse). Omelettes were just ‘ok’, had to send mine back because they did not make me what I ordered. World famous cinnamon rolls smell wonderful but all burnt. All around terrible.

Good homemade rolls and breads. Eggs a little overlooked but I’d go back in a heartbeat. Nice workers, excellent service great food with lots of options. Get the biscuits and gravy.

Don’t be lured! There is a big sign on the front of the building touting homemade corned beef hash. Yeech!!! Salty, salty and inedible! We were lured again by the note on the menu that homemade bread was available for an additional 25 cents. We’re worth an extra 25 cents – bring it on! My beloved showed me what he got for the additional money – the heel of the bread. It had been positioned to look like a regular slice. He took a bite and said it was stale. We both laughed. I was lured by the homemade pecan rolls. Unfortunately, the waitress brought it out hot without my requesting it. I have found when a roll is heated up without asking it is usually old. A fresh homemade roll doesn’t need to be heated. OK, not everything was bad. I asked for hot tea with milk. No problem – I was given a little milk(that’s all I needed) and was not charged. And, even though the food wasn’t wonderful, we had good service. Refills were prompt on coffee and hot water. Our order was taken quickly and food brought out in a timely manner. As has been reported in other reviews, when we paid our bill and were asked how we liked our breakfast we told the cashier that the CB Hash was inedible. No sorry, no nothing – just took our money. They knew we wouldn’t be back, so who cares what we thought.

This is not the Denny’s franchise!!! It is a locally owned business! Great breakfast!!! We come here every time we are in the Dells and have never been disappointed. I don’t get all the negative reviews because we have always enjoyed this place. Great food, great prices, huge portions and fast friendly service! We will be back!

This place highlights its cinnamon rolls and its egg Benedict. Cinnamon rolls delicious. Eggs Benedict is terrible. The egg is fried instead of poached and the sauce is not a typical benedict sauce. It has a weird spice flavor and very greasy. Stick with the cinnamon rolls and skip the rest of breakfast.

My wife and I were here off season. Lots of knick knacks to keep one entertained. The staff was very attentive and the food was decent

Looks like this place had an ‘old’ Unilocal page– and I’ll just repost what I said before. Been back recently and this place was still a great breakfast. it was packed when we went. Here’s the old review: «I don’t understand all the negative reviews. We tried this place out solely based on the neon sign in the window for best homemade cinnamon rolls — and they were delicious. Plus their homemade bread was just as great! We were seated immediately and ordered breakfast. Lots of tchotchkes and all sorts of things to look at. Cool antique-y things all around. Service was quick and friendly. No silly names for dishes, just simple breakfast menu & very old style. Great solid classic diner style food. Good stuff. I would have given them 5 stars, but they don’t accept credit cards. Cash only — which they have an ATM in the diner that charges a nominal fee. Otherwise, I’d totally go back next time I am in the Dells!!»

Filthy restaurant. The bottoms of the coffee cups are slick with grease and human oil. The table is sticky. The food was stunningly bad. I will never go back to this tourist hell hole.

Probably would have never gone into this place if I had read reviews beforehand, but tried the place as I was in the Dells with family at a waterpark. Pretty traditional diner experience, menu has classic breakfast options. Thought service and atmosphere were what you would expect from a diner. Not a blow you away experience, but did not have the same terrible experience it appears most of the other reviewers have had.

Best breakfast I have ever eaten… cinnamon rolls… amazing! Yummy bacon! Corned beef and hash(eaten by friend), not me ever… Friend said best ever! Omelet was super!!! Grape jelly delious! Amazing!!! Waitress wasn’t the most friendly but food out-weighed her demeanor. Highly recommend.

Cinnamon rolls were great… service was not. My daughter got her breakfast 15 min before we got ours and she was done by the time we were served. My husband’s food was cold… mine was good. Took over 45 min to get food and forever to get check plus, we were being squished by all the people waiting for a table. I would not go back again.

We stopped in for breakfast yesterday. What a fun place to sit and take in all the memorabilia. That is where the good experience ended. My daughter is dairy and gluten free and there was no attempt to accommodate her needs. The waitress right out said she had nothing to serve her. Everything is made with butter. Even when I asked if they had any vegetable oil in the kitchen to make a meal, she said they did not. On the plus side we offered to pay for the coffee we were drinking but she said I worry.

This is not the chain Denny ‘s. We find this out very fast when we walked in. We were here from out of state & not some place we will visit on or return visits. They were in no hurry to seat us. It took 20 minutes for us to even get our drinks. The only rush was for us to pay our check. The food was average & the services was below poor.

Solid ham & cheddar omelet with hash browns. Took a little while to come out, I suspect because the kitchen was slammed. Server was on top of coffee refills.

A lot of better places in the area. Antique-clutter décor is fun to look at if you can get over the musty smell and need for a deep cleaning. Had all kinds of wait staff pass our table without taking our order or even acknowledging us. Had to take it upon ourselves to find a server. Food also took a while so don’t be in a hurry. Husband liked the hashbrowns — tasted like they share the same grill as the burgers. Teenage daughter typically loves hashbrowns but didn’t eat more than a few bites. I ordered a turkey and Swiss sandwich which is exactly what I got — apparently you have to ask — and pay extra — for a leaf of lettuce or swipe of mayo. Seriously??? I noticed around me that many other patrons left with a lot of food still on their plates. You don’t usually see that! Bathroom was quite gross, table was sticky and stuffed gorilla hanging above our heads was full of dust. Could have been a fun place. Hope they read Unilocal reviews and make some improvements.

Came in for a quick breakfast and decided to give this place a try despite the reviews. Wish I actually listened and took my money somewhere else… Checked in, and even tho there was a line, were seated 10 min later. It took our waiteress longer to come by and get our order. Once we placed the order, we sat for good 20 min until our food came. Everything came out way too salty. We ordered the very basic breakfast with home made bread(which they charged $ 4.60 for 4 slices and were never told that it would be an extra charge). Our waitress came to our table total of 3 time so half of our dining experience was spent waiting and trying to get her attention. For an order of eggs, toast, bacon and hashbrowns we payed $ 25 for 2 people(tip not included). Never again will I visit this place. I’d reather go to a chain restaurant.

If you’re looking for Denny’s(the chain), then you’re at the wrong place. If you’re looking for where the Dells, Lake Delton and Baraboo locals eat, then you’ve found what you’re looking for. This is your basic, nostalgic diner. Eggs. Bacon. Cinnamon Rolls. They’re all on the menu. The prices are fair for a tourist town and the portions are large. I ordered a bacon and cheese omelet. It came with hash browns and toast for $ 8.95. My wife had a mushroom and cheese omelet for the same price. My omelet didn’t have bacon bits in it, it wasn’t filled with a few chunks of bacon. The bacon was so heavily packed it was thick and chewy with bacon! I thoroughly enjoyed it. My wife said her omelet had more mushrooms than she’s seen in a long time. The hashbrowns had a great taste to them, although they were a tad salty. Their grill is obviously well-seasoned. This place looks like it was built in the 1950s or 1960s, and the décor is the same. That’s not a slam, just a statement. Lots of nostalgic signs hanging on the walls. Look, if you want your same crappy breakfast at Denny’s(the chain), then by all means, go there. But if you want much better food for the same(or better) price, then head on over to this Denny’s.
