According to the sign, it’s both a restaurant and a grocery store. They have both a retail and a restaurant area inside. One walks into the restaurant area and the retail area is off to the side, but one doesn’t need to buy food before buying groceries, so it’s all good. The selection is not very large but it is unique. It’s not as fancy as Ralphs in terms of decoration, but it gets the job done. I would rather have good merchandise and a store with no decorations than the other way around. They asked if we wanted any food too. Better come back on an empty stomach.

The food taste average, not enough variety. If u shop Indonesian groceries pls ensure to check the expiration dates. They carry lots of Indonesian bumbu varieties, snacks and some Dutch products.

We took the trip all the way to Lake Forest and to Indo Ranch restaurant for truly last of the very few Indonesian food places in Orange County. The last time I craved Indo food was my trip to Chickys BBQ in city of Duarte, but that was way too far. Did not really know what to expect when we got there. A few customers at one table were wrapping up their meals so it was just us. It looks like there was family and worker bees measuring and discussing and arguing about doing rearranging of display cases. Moving in, I motioned to the sweet older lady that we were patrons and wanted a table to sit. She came over and pleasant conversation about the Indo foods she has on the menu. Menu? The menu is what you see on the wall! Or point and pick prepped dishes from the display case. I asked her to make me a plate of her choice and a dish of Bakmie Goreng for my lovely wife. We got some ready made krupuk udang for our meal which we had to pay for separately… it was not in the meals. I had also ordered Es Cendol to drink and a vegetable fritter. So she put together what I call Nasi Campur(rice with a mix of assorted sides) from dishes that were already in the display case, and included some yellow rice, a piece of citrusy chicken, beef rendang and Tempe in spicy sauce. The rendang had great flavor and the Tempe created a warm taste sensation. The Bakmie goreng took some time to prepare and finally came after I had already eaten half of my Nasi Campur. I had a sampling of the Bakmie goreng and was surprised that it was more spicy than I remember it should be. My lovely wife agreed and decided to finish it later. The vegetable fritter was an oily mess, but it’s been oh so long since I had anything close to it, that I mixed in enough sambal to hurdle the bland oily taste. I then had to remind the lady that I had also ordered Es Cendol. She apologized for not getting this to the kitchen where another lady was doing all the cooking. The Es Cendol had good sweet pandan with Nangka flavor. I also got 4 pasty(pastry filled with a mix of vegetables and boiled egg and thin vermicelli noodles) to take home. A quick walk thru the grocery store in the corner of the restaurant got me some provisions to take home. There was enough good choices offered here including a refrigerated case and coffees and teas and sambals and bumbus and assorted candies and peanuts. I checked out at the counter and thanked the lady of the kitchen for her foods. I asked for the sweet older lady and I learned that she had gone to the market. I satiated my Indo food cravings for now, and know that this place Indo Ranch restaurant exists for if and when I am in the neighborhood in the future and hunker for Indo foods.

Wow, what a diamond in the rough! This was only my second time eating at an Indonesian restaurant and honestly I was a little apprehensive at first because it was dimly lit inside and there was just one lady working in the kitchen. The owner was so sweet, though, and the prices were unbelievably good. The food itself was excellent, with portions big enough to have seconds at home. I will for sure be coming back soon.

My 4 star is for 2 ladies(seniors) who just move to the energy of what is in front of them. Today I waited 30 minutes still no food. They were unusually busy today. The next closet is Toyo Rama in bellflower. I almost jumped back of the line to help the two sweet ladies creating great food. They have no choice but to be slow due to custom style and lack of help. I have no complaints just lots of love to see the two just moving along one order at a time. I had leave but I WILL be back. I want to support these ladies and hope they add some help as we(indo/Singapore) need good home food.

Closest Indo place in Irvine. The place is very humble in appearance, but the food is delicious! I love Indonesian food, but can’t handle spicy things. After expressing this to the most adorable, sweet lady behind the counter, she confirmed with me that I would be able to eat the beef rendang. Truth! Loved it, ate all of it. Sate ayam is great here too. Hours are really limited though, and they close early. I wish they stayed open until later… Really looking forward to coming back here again!

Now that Warung Pojok in Garden Grove is closed, Indo Ranch is the only Indonesian restaurant left in Orange County. Too bad, we need more! I have been going to Indo Ranch for lunch about once per month for three years, including their old location on Moulton Parkway. They have about 10 dishes pre-made fast food style so you can get your lunch fast, which I like. They also have a lot of the traditional dishes on the menu such as Nasi Campur, Nasi Bunkus, Nasi Padang, Mie Goreng, Soto Ayam, etc. Everything I have ever had there was good. The food itself is tasty, authentic(I travel to Indonesia a lot and my wife is Indonesian), spicy, flavorful, and satisfying. The portions are American size, so if you’re used to the typically small portions in Indonesia then order less. Just like in Indonesia, the service is quite slow, but the lady who runs it is gentle and sweet. She always asks about our family. Try one of the desserts like Es Campur or Es Cendol, super delicious!

I am Indonesian and the food at Indo Ranch tastes authentic. I tasted almost half the menu in the past few weeks. But, it’s not memorable. So, 4* for food. However, it also came with Indonesian style service: polite, BUT sales-y and super slow. My questions was never answered. For example, more than once, I asked, «What’s in it(the soup thing)?» She answered, «Many things. Why don’t you try it?» Then, the wait time was too much(30+ min.). So, service, 1* Lastly, one of my pet peeves: if your store front said that you’re closed at 7 pm, please close your door at 7 pm, not 5:45 pm. 1*

I think this place is amazing… I heard about it from friends who love their pastries. I made my boss try it with me and we were both pleasantly surprised by how amazing the food is… I have since gone back several times to get the two dish combo. I prefer the spicy chicken and egg but everything on the menu I have tried and it is all super delicious! Additionally, try the pastries and you won’t be disappointed.

I just went this place two weeks ago. The curry sauce is still good, but I just do not understand there is no vegetable at all for one Asian dish! Too much meat!

We tried Indo Ranch on Friday for lunch and loved it. The place feels very homey and it’s run by a bunch of older Indonesian women. They were very nice and even gave us free sodas. You can order a 1, 2 or 3 item combo for lunch and they have a number of entrees to choose from. Some were spicy and others not but all were extremely flavorful. The eggplant soup was delicious with a light coconut flavored broth. The lemongrass chicken and beef dishes were amazing too. Price was extremely reasonable too for lunch. We will definitely go back.

Very authentic Indonesian cuisine. The Rendang was fantastic(and spicy!). The cassava leaves were just like they make them in indo, with some nice kafir lime leaf in there. The Tempe was firm and tasty. This is not a fancy place. But the best places never are. I am totally coming back!

A most unique small market and restaurant. I went around 1:30pm on a weekday and ordered a two-item combo. The combo included rice and my two items(noodles and rendang). Paying for the meal was a challenge. I pulled out my credit card but the cashier informed me that there was a charge for orders under twenty dollars. I did not have bills smaller than a twenty as the cashier was requesting, nor did I have the exact coin change on the bill. My friend ended up paying for me. Their noodles were good, and I liked the rendang(beef with spices). The lady told me they cooked it for three hours. One of the ladies came by to ask how our meal was. During the meal, since there weren’t many people in the restaurant, the employees decided to use their karaōke machine. They went through multiple attempts to get it going, finally got it working, and an employee sang Indonesian songs. An interesting experience.

We were greeted by a lady just bursting with excitement to introduce us to Indonesian food. If anything, she deflated a little when I said I’d lived 6 months in Papua, but perked up again and said that her food — she’s from Jakarta — was very different! She was right — I only recognized about half the stuff on the menu, including the omnipresent mie and nasi goreng(fried noodles and rice). I opted for the nasi bungkus(literally rice-in-a-bag, actually rice-with-stuff-in-banana-leaf) because you get to try a lot of things that way. It came with a bunch of stuff from the steam table — beef rendang, a few gigantic hunks of chicken, spicy tempeh, the balado egg, and a few strands of vegetables. Of the lot, I only really loved the beef rendang, which was meltingly tender and complex with layers of flavor. The chicken was way too gigantic to have been cooked softly and no amount of flavor layer could penetrate to the middle. My dining companion was coaxed into ordering two things(«You’ll love them!») — the sate ayam(chicken satay) and mie goreng. Now, I’ve never gotten the popularity of mie goreng. It’s basically a ramen packet of yellow noodles stir fried in a wok with boring vegetables like cabbage and carrots, plus an egg if you’re lucky, in a nondescript savory-ish sauce. It all tastes the same no matter which street corner, warung, tent-restaurant, or fine dining establishment you get it from. This was no exception, so I guess I can call it authentic — grudgingly. But still, what the hell, mie goreng? Why do you exist? The best thing on our whole table was the sate ayam. Figures. I lived on the stuff when I lived in Indonesia. It all tends to taste the same too, to different levels of charred-ness and smokiness, but in this case it all tastes AWESOME. The peanut sauce is addictive, with a hint of kecap manis(sweet soy), and the chicken nicely blackened while keeping its tenderness. If you go by the grocery, and you should go by the grocery, pick up a ragingly overpriced, seemingly simple, but astoundingly delicious bag of peanut rempeyek!

Indonesian restaurants are common in the West Covina area, but unfortunately, are sparse in Orange County. Going southbound from LA, Indo Ranch in Lake Forest is probably the last Indonesian shop before reaching San Diego. It is a half restaurant, half grocery type of shop. Indo Ranch is operated by an elderly Indonesian lady from Jakarta. She is extremely energetic for her age, friendly, and polite. Everytime I dine in, she treats me like I am her grandson. She brings me a plate of Indonesian food and when I’m finished, she invites me to bring my friends next time. Once, she set me up with her Indo friend to play a game of chess at the restaurant. She definitely lives out the theme of Indo Ranch, which is to «enjoy the experience» and«bring your friends». The menu at Indo Ranch has expanded significantly since its renovation several months ago. There is a steam table that currently contains around 5 assorted Indonesian dishes representing different regions of Indonesia(Java, Sulawesi, Sumatra) such as beef rendang, sayur daun sinkong, sayur tempe, ayam woku, and telor baldado. For only $ 7.95, you can pick 3 items to eat with nasi kuning, which is an Indonesian yellow rice. Indo Ranch shapes the yellow rice in a cone-shape orientation, with a serving of each dish surrounding the rice. What you get from the steam table is like a Java-style nasi campur. My favorites at Indo Ranch are the ayam woku(Manado style chicken in spicy woku sauce) and sayur daun sinkong(cassava leaves stew). Both of these dishes are hot and heavily spiced, a treat for those who enjoy bold flavors. Sambal is also available for anyone who requires additional heat. Aside from the steam table offerings, gado gado, sate ayam, soto ayam, and other Indo dim sum(jajanan pasar) are available made-to-order. For desserts, there is es cendol, es campus, and es kelapa muda, all homemade by the owner. Indo Ranch is my destination when I am craving for Indonesian food in the OC. I’ve only had it a handful of times so far, and every visit has been an experience to try something new. Tip: 1. Monday and Wednesdays are the special days at Indo Ranch. They offer a 1-item bowl with soup for only $ 2.99(regular price $ 4.99) and also serve soto ayam for $ 7.99. 2. There is a stamp card available. Buy 5 combo meals to redeem one free Indonesian dessert. Buy 10 combo meals and get one 2-item meal for free. 3. They open from 9am to 7pm everyday except Saturday.

Indo Ranch moved from the Moulton Pkwy location to this one several months ago. This location is right next door to Rocq Café on the corner of Lake Forest and Lambert in the same plaza as the Round Table Pizza. I love coming here to buy the Indonesian food. My biggest issue is making beef rendang at home — takes hours and hours — and the one here is pretty close to the one I make. They also have nasi bungkus from time to time — but on Sundays they have a whole bunch ready. They also have delicious snacks such as otak otak, corn fritters, rissoles as well as Indonesian dishes like fish balado, and more. It is a grocery store with a little take out area attached. You can eat there if you want as there are tables and chairs but it’s not really a restaurant. The food is not cheap, but it isn’t cheap to make Indonesian food with all the different spices used. I hate to make it because it takes a long time and there was nothing nearby with anything half way decent. At least now, I can get it at any time I want even if it costs a little more. They are closed on Saturdays!
