Update. My previous review is only accurate for 7 months ago and is no longer my point of view on this establishment. The management is less than desirable to deal with. Very shady. I won’t be back!

Oh yes, This is the best ramen in the A V. The pork broth was so savory and full of flavor. The noodles were great. Imported from Japan according to the owner. And the place is open for business. Definitely a return visit is on the horizon.

«It’s fusion, you’ll like it» he said. Right, he was. Cilantro and sashimi under the same roof? OMG, it was a culinary genius heaven. I don’t quite get all the haters out there. Most likely from LA, though, that’s a given. Keep on driving, haters.

We went back to try the ramen and OMG, it is the tastiest I have ever had! I don’t know how they did it but the broth, oh man the broth is so rich, yet creamy and flavorful, it’s like nothing you’ve ever had before!!! I’m a huge ramen fan and just can’t get what I had in Hawaii and guess what? Big Ed’s is BETTER than the ramen in Hawaii!!! If this was around a few years ago, I would have saved all the money we spent there and just done it here without the vacation! It’s THAT good you guys! I cannot wait until the remodeling is done so I can go back bc I already NEED more!

I wanted to give them a four but I can’t because I’ve only been here once and there are a few things they seem to be working on(kinks of opening a new concept restaurant). I will definately give it another chance since they have promise. Next time, I will order more on the Mexican side(other than the chips that is). The chicken bacon roll is jammin! The spicy tuna was okay and the shrimp tempura roll was good. Chips were ordinary but their green dipping sauce was spicy and delicious.

Hate to be against the crowd but I didn’t have a good experience at all. Maybe we came on a bad day. The sushi wasn’t good and the rolls came out kinda sloppy. We came in the afternoon on a Saturday it was dead inside. But the service was decent just took a while for the food to come. They also may wanna work on kids cups or put them in to go cups, while we were there a lady and her kid at the next table dropped the glass cup and it shattered everywhere. I think maybe plastic or something else for kids would be good, but I am willing to try again and just eat the Mexican food it looked and smelled divine. I shall try that next time. Update … The owner wrote me back and was very friendly and kind and truly wanted my service, so now I will deff be back and I gave another star, good customer service goes along way with me !!! Thank you gene !

What the HAY happened? This was the BEST place in the AV and surrounding areas… We came here several times and it was amazing! The plating and the taste of the food was rock solid! The initial chef is gone and now the food is lacking in flavor, the edamame was crunchy and needed salt, the poke ball? Cut the size in half and was just spicy tuna with too much sesame oil… no pokey at all. The ginger tasted old and gross and I had to tell the chef what was in one of the hand rolls I ordered. The mango was very mushy and all of the innards kept falling out… the plates are chipped and small little paper lunch napkins were served. WHAT? I am soooooo SAD! They had such a great thing going… now??? The«Chefs» looked like the old prep chefs and acted like it… bring back Chef David! PLEASE!

Not sure if we went on the wrong night. Service was good, but the food took a long time to come out. Some of the food items ordered: poke ball, fusion roll, pink lady, oysters on the half shell, tostadas, and sopes. The food was good, the only complaint we all had was the portion size. My buddy ordered the sopes, but it took so long he cancelled it. Still a pretty new establishment. I’ll probably wait awhile before going back.

I have tried about every sushi place out here in Antelope valley and Big Ed’s sushi has definitely met and exceeded my expectations. This place is amazing the food is on point. Always surprising with top quality food from the presentation to the freshness of the sushi. Lets not forget the mexican food. You remember having your Abuelita aka grandmother making your food that was so good you just kept eating and eating, well, this place has that Abuelita in the back cooking authentic Mexican food with classic recipes to the more south of the border recipes. Again going over and beyond expectations of real Mexican food. WOULDHIGHLYRECOMMENDTHISPLACE. It hasn’t even had its grand opening.

Updating my review after the owner Gene wrote to me a couple of times. I review places when I have been there, experienced the staff courtesy and tasted the food. I don’t get a chance to right my review right away. However, since the owner wrote that my review is hurting a family with kids made me feel bad. I figured my review needed to have the details before the review if I can’t write one the same day. So I apologize and I did not intend to hurt anyone. I don’t know any other places and am not trying to make any business look bad. Furthermore, I will not lie about the experience rendered and aftermath of eating here. It was on a Friday Aug 28th at 8pm. My bf and two friends walked into Big Ed’s, there were 6 people at the sushi bar, a couple at the corner booth and someone who looked like the owner having a business meeting at the booth near the register. As we waited with flat sodas we were faced with apologetic staff who were happy to replace them. That was nice. As we waited we saw everyone in the restaurant staring at the sushi chef, wondering where the food they ordered would arrive. I understand preparing for each plate takes time and I am not mad at that. We waited 1 hr 20 mins before one of the orders our table made came. All of the food came one at a time, each one delayed by 10−15mins. There were no utensils, plates for food or sauce dishes for the soy sauce/wasabi mix. When the dishes and utensils did come it came dirty and utensils had finger prints. Our friends ordered: chicken tacos which were okay they said, poke ball which should have been paired with wonton chips & yellow tail which was not fresh. The yellow tail was taken away by the waitress. The reaction of the chef made us reluctant to eat any food coming out after that. I ordered the Tuna Tapas. The waitress did not know what that was until i showed her a Unilocal picture. It came out warm(shelfish and tuna with half of a half avocado decorated on top). It tasted as if they just opened a can and placed it on the plate and put avocado on top to look pretty. It came with wonton chips. This was my only plate. My bf ordered the VIP platter which came last after all of us ate our food. This platter had 2 big sushi rolls and about 6 pieces of sushi which were plated nice and made skillfully but we have some type of idea that some restaurants may modify or add ingredients if we upset the service crew. This made him uneasy to eat the food on the platter so we just left it. Our bill for 4 after a dish being taken away was $ 96. I was asked to come to the register alone inwhich the manager showed me a bill that she was not able to split but showed me my portion to pay. I paid then my friends paid the rest. I walked over to the sushi bar and dropped $ 10 in the tip jar because I know how hard the chefs work to create the dishes. Everyone in my party did not understand my generosity but I am very generous and understanding with restaurants work staff and feel they need to be rewarded as much as anyone can give them. Due to the message receive by the owner i will definitely not return.

Food wise I was very satisfied. Location wise… RUN!!! JK. It is in a less than desirable shopping center next too a barber shop and foot massage place. And the clientele hanging out at the surrounding establishments weren’t making me feel all that great about coming back at night. But started with bacon poppers. 5Stars Bomb Chicken Enchiladas with beans and rice 5Stars again Coke machine was a little flat but that happens every where. I’ll go back to try more of the Mexican Sushi fusion but only while the sun is up.

I heard of this restaurant through several different people, including from a few of the sushi chefs that now work there that I knew from other restaurants. I’ve heard all positive reviews from everyone, so I had to eventually come in to try it out. My fiancé and myself came in on a saturday evening, there were a few groups at the tables and a couple at bar. We were greeted kindly by the host and we asked to sit at the bar; She sat us, gave us menus and took our drink orders. Sal the chef at the bar was friendly and recommended a few rolls to try out. Everything that we ordered was delicious, we had Loaded mussels and Amazing Ahi for starters. We moved on to OMG sushi and a new burrito roll item(nameless) that they will be adding onto the menu. Come to find out, this restaurant is in a soft opening, so some things are a work in progress. The service was good 8⁄10 The food was great 10⁄10 The décor was cool, work in progress though 7⁄10 Overall, I give them a 9⁄10 I can’t wait to see how the restaurant will turn out after they get everything rolling.(Final menu, liquor license, décor, etc)

My friend’s coworker had told her about Big Ed’s so when I came to town we planned on trying it. The place is very unassuming from the outside but has a very warm and open feel to it inside. It is very spacious and has a sushi bar, tables, and booths to choose from. We wanted the full experience so we went to the bar and chatted with the chef, David. After studying the menu we order the Baked Ebi roll, the surf and turf roll, the lovers roll, the garlic edamame, the bacon poppers, and raspberry dessert roll. Needless to say, we were stuffed! It was a lot of food for two girls but it was so good that we couldn’t stop. If you want a sweet roll, the baked Ebi was on point. I have a sweet tooth so I thoroughly enjoyed this one. The lovers roll was fresh and excellent. It is topped with jalapeños and the taste was extremely well balanced. Finally, the fusion surf and turf roll. It was topped with carne and avocado. Nothing ordered needed soy sauce because all the flavors were excellent. I was given the aoli dipping sauce for the surf and turf and that combination was so good!!! I need to write a few words our appetizers. The garlic edamame and the bacon poppers were to die for. I’m still thinking about them. They are must try items! We also ordered dessert and it was the cherry on top. It is off menu and it is a large portion so good for about 3 – 4 people. We were so full but ate more than half(and took the rest of the desert to go). Overall it was definitely a five star experience. The service and food were excellent. I will definitely be back and would highly recommend trying this restaurant out. Definitely an up and coming jem in Lancaster.

Brought the kids here today for lunch. Our hostess Alexis was new but very friendly and helpful as well as Tatyana I believe she was the mgr, not sure. We ordered the bacon poppers as the appetizer, spicy and delicious! We scarfed it down so quick I was almost embarrassed lol! My son is anti-sushi so he ordered a carne asada burrito with rice and beans he said it was«thee bomb» I wouldn’t know since he didn’t want to share. Me and my daughter shared a sampler platter we ordered the pink lady, amigos and omg for the smaller rolls and the Tempura delight and chicken bacon roll as the big rolls. It was so much food I couldn’t even finish. The owner came by and asked how the food was and thanked us for coming, very polite and likable guy. Everything was on point and I would definitely recommend this place. The Mexican-Japanese fusion is amazing, we will be back!
