Beggars Pizza

I called to get a delivery. 22.00 for a one item. I told them I wanted a pizza not a car payment. What a joke.

Do I look like a tourist to you??? THAT’S why I’m at Beggars Pizza! Folk who know go where REAL pizza is made… fresh ingredients, thick layer of toppings on a thin delicious crust, sh**, you’re gonna make me cuss!
Great location for dine in. This is an old movie theater turned mafia style pizzeria. Come in or take home and enjoy!
Beggars Pizza — they lay it on thick!

I recently moved and was looking for a new pizza place. I ordered q cheese pizza extra crispy and as I was literally in the process of moving in I asked that they bring some paper plates or napkins if they had them, told sure thing not a problem. It too nearly two hours to get the pizza, and by time it arrived all b cheese had slid to one side, it was gross. Trying to eat it was a joke and especially difficult cause they didn’t print plates or napkins, just a mess.

Sat at a table for almost 20 minutes. Not one person even acknowledged our presence, much less took an order. They were not that busy. We walked out.

I’ve been frequenting this location for 14yrs and up until recently it’s been a great experience. My latest experience last Thursday was a nightmare. I ordered a pizza on my way in from Evanston. Stopped in and picked up my pizza. Got home and went to get undressed. Came down and my friend asked what kind of pizza it was. I checked and realized it was a Canadian Bacon and not the Cheese & Sausage I ordered. Realized there were 2 receipts on the box. Mines and another persons. I called the store and was told they realized the mistake when the other customer came to pick up his. I asked why no one attempted to reach me and I received no response! I had to request that my pizza be delivered to my home which is 10 mins away. It took 30 mins and that was with me calling. Pizza was delivered and was supposed to be a thin crust but I received a thick crust! At that point I was hungry and tired and said the heck with it. I posted my experience on their customer complaint site only to be ignored!!! No attempt was made to appease me so I ordered my Super Bowl Pizzas elsewhere!!!

Oh, Beggars. You leave me so conflicted.
On the one hand, they sell what is my absolute favorite pizza in Lansing. Their motto is «We lay it on thick», and boy that’s the truth. I love getting just a basic pepperoni from here, because even if you don’t order extra cheese, it feels like you did. There’s SO MUCH OF IT, and that’s a great change of pace from the scant toppings of rival chains in the area.
On the other hand, holy wow are they overpriced. Their mozzarella sticks are super delicious, but I can’t even afford to get them every time I order. Over $ 6 for an order? I can get them for 4 or 5 at other pizza places on the same street. Their sandwiches are overpriced too. The Chicken Italiano sandwich is pretty good, but it’s pretty average for the $ 8, especially since it doesn’t even come with fries. You have to order those as a separate add-​on.
The service is also hit and miss. Sometimes the people are the nicest, sweetest people who seem so genuinely happy to see you or hear from you (even though I’m sure that’s not the case). Sometimes they act like you’re committing a heinous crime by daring to order food. There’s one girl that answers the phone often when we call that always seems irritated and hurried.
I’d come here for the pizza, whether you get deep dish or thin crust it’s going to be delicious. But if you’re thinking about getting other menu items, I’d go elsewhere. And don’t be offended if the girl on the phone is pissy with you; I don’t think it’s personal. If you dine in, some nights there’s live organ music which depending on your stance on the matter can be a lovely treat or a night to avoid.

Beggars just really sucks now. I had the exact same experience as I did at another beggars. The food is definitely NOT fresh everything is from a can or frozen from out the back of the freezer burgers are disgusting!!! They are these thick pre shaped dry ass burgers all beggars have then now damn they are so dry please DONT get the burgers you have been warned. The sauce on the pizza was not good well the pizza itself was not all that. Yeah I’m done with beggars!!! They use to be good now they are just shit they have really went down hill. I will never go to another beggars. If you must go to any beggars I advise you just get the pizza that’s all they are good for nothing and I mean NOTHING!!! Nothing is fresh anymore. And the place was freezing cold mind you it is winter time. Turn them damn fans off!!!

This was probably one of the best pies I have eaten. The thin crust was an amazing end to a long day of work and travel.

I cant remeber the sauce being this bland, growing up I loved beggars. Sauce is Straight out the can and not even warmed.Yuck. Atmosphere was great on Friday .live piano player

Everyone who reviewed, try going at Christmas time! You get a AMAZING deep dish pizza, and the pipe organ that will play only chrisgmas music! They guy who plays at Christmas time plays at Oak Glen UCRC. He’s amazing!!! You’ll thank me if you do go!

I was expecting a big deal as I have driven by here countless times wondering what they did to the interior of this old movie house. Not much! Lay some carpet and slap together a few walls and call it a day! This was Thee Worst Buffet I have ever been to. It actually made up my mind to never go to any Beggars ever again! One old cold buffet that was about 4 feet long with no salad and 5 different toppings. 3 leftover pizzas on the hot side and the pasta in the corner that I wouldn’t have fed to my dog. I watched as more people came in and more food was brought out. but it never got any better. Thanks for stopping by!

Great pizza and great service. They have an organ player and my kids love it. They also do karaōke and if you love sports this place is great.

Great pizza! The entertainment is fun. The atmosphere is unique and happy. My kids enjoy everytime.

My kids and I sampled the lunch buffet at about 12:45 p.m. The salad bar featured some very fresh chopped romaine lettuce with topping choices that included egg, two kinds of cheese, croutons, cucumbers, tomatoes, olives and cottage cheese. About seven different pizzas were featured and were kept toasty on a large hot plate. A small pasta station was in the corner. My son, (who will eat almost anything) decided to skip the pasta station because the sauces looked like they had not been freshened in a while.
Your pizza is super, but I do want to offer my humble suggestions to Beggar’s Pizza:
1. Add some toppings to that salad bar! Mushrooms, green onions, bell peppers would be a great start! Obviously, you have that in your inventory!
2. Label the pizzas on the buffet… freshen the pasta and the sauce.
3. Paint the interior! The old paint job give the impression it is dirty when it isn’t! Also, while you are at it, remove the Christmas décor from around the pendant lights!

Tonight I ordered online at
a medium thin crust pizza with extra cheese, garlic and gardenier it was… DELICIOUS! The crust was not so thin that it becomes dry and brittle, it was crispy and held my extra cheese like a pro. The cheese tasted super fresh, the garlic was just ok and the gardenier was AWESOME! I would have given it 5 stars but because I ordered online they sent me a confirmation minus the ready pick up time so I had to call them to find out.
One last thing, customer service over the phone and in person was pretty darn good and I appreciate that.

Order a Large stuff pizza with sausage and mushroom it was were heavy so I walked out satisfied. I ate one slice and was fully I’ll get a medium next time but pizza was delicious so much meat and veggies

I really like Beggars Pizza and usually enjoy my experience when I dine-​in. However, I came for the lunch buffet and the food was awful. I arrived a half hour after the lunch buffet began and the food looked as if it had been sitting since the day before, it was cold, and I really wish I had requested my money back. I’m not against going to this location because it is a cool place, I just won’t be partaking in the lunch buffet anymore.

Cool place. It is built in an old vaudeville theater. I would go during the organ nights, it is really quite fun to see all the old actuators still working.
Service was slow, but polite. It was busy to begin with, but even when it was slower service did not improve.
The pizza was a little greasy, but that comes with the loads of toppings on their thin crust. You almost have to eat it with knife and fork.

Came here for a birthday party with a large group on Christmas Eve — and it went well. The kitchen was really backed up, and even though we pre-​ordered our pizzas an hour before our arrival, they didn’t come out until about a half-​hour after everyone arrived. Oy. But our server was nice and kept our drinks filled. Pizzas were fine — I liked the stuffed the best, of course. :D Wished the mushrooms were fresh instead of from a can though.
But the reason this gets 4 stars (instead of the 3 I would’ve left based on the kitchen delays) is because of their incredible organ player! What a delight! This guy was amazing to watch and kept everyone entertained during the evening. The organ is unbelievable, with so many interesting elements throughout the space. Very cool and very unique. Would happily come back here whenever this musician is working!
