I really wanted to love these cupcakes. They are huge when compared to other bakeries and look cute. We tried the lemon and the chocolate peanut butter. The lemon smelled great and had what looked like a pansy on the top. The pansy was a plastic ring — what a disappointment. You can eat pansies, why cheap out? Also, the cake was dry and did not taste like lemon at all. The peanut butter chocolate was not much better. The cake was more moist than the lemon but not by much and the frosting was TOO sweet. Topped with a Wilbur Bud, of course, so it looked cute but the flavor was not good.

I stopped in with my daughter to grab a couple cupcakes today, and was greeted in a friendly manner. It’s a basic bakery with a small case of cupcakes, they all looked good enough. Sadly the two I purchased didn’t get past the first bite. The lemon one, which I was assured had some tartness to it, was not good at all. The cake texture was dense and mealy while lacking any worthwhile flavor. It almost tasted raw, which was not appealing. The other one was the red velvet, which while better, was still not worth eating. The cake texture was better, but the flavor was very bland. The frosting was dense and unappealing, very basic. I had really high hopes given the location, thinking that mediocrity couldn’t survive. Clearly I was mistaken.

Wendi’s is a cute little shop full of yummy hand-held wonders. Red velvet, double fudge or good old vanilla, you simply can’t go wrong. Service is friendly and parking was ample even on a Saturday afternoon dense with folks enjoying all that Lititz has to offer, which is quite a lot.
