Islands Restaurant

We are at islands restaurant and the service is mediocre. The teriyaki chicken bowl came late. Also the teriyaki bowl was drenched with teriyaki sauce. You could not talk the The teriyaki chicken and rice and vegetables taste more like teriyaki sauce than real fresh tasty food. Actually the teriyaki bowl tasted like a frozen dinner heated up. Now on a good note my salad and chicken wings were great. I think I’m not going to come back to this islands restaurant in Lakewood at the Long Beach Towncenter. Dear Islands:
My Bön Ami, Steve, treats me every Sunday to brunch and a movie usually at the Long Beach Town Center. We have tried all the restaurants there:
ISLANDS is our favorite.
Without exception from the hostess to the servers, and of course the CHEF, it is a 10+ experience.
I love how we are greeted by the manager as we are first in line to open. This salutation continues with the hostess. Servers are personal in attention. Competency the best ever. Food delicious: we love the Cobb Salad/​Burgers!
I have written previous kudos letters about management, services and so on.
This time I am saluting Manager Rob.
Thank you ALL.
The restaurant is spotless; ambience delightful.

It seems I have to update with the latest, others are removed.

Came here today to have lunch I felt that the prices were too high for the quality of the food. Customer service was good but again the food is bland and greasy. I feel like they tore open a hungry man meal and micro waved that mug and put it on a plate.
Don’t think I will be coming back.

I’ve been to Islands a few times in the past year, and it’s about time that I gave my two cents about how things have been during my trips to the hamburger isle.
This location is consistently busy, so don’t be too put off if you’re going to have a wait a while for a table on a weekend night. They seem to get through the queue pretty quick, but there’s not much room inside the host area to sit while you wait. Best to wait outside if you don’t want to be bumping elbows with people inside.
On to the food. Obviously, the burgers are the star of the menu, but there’s a few different options to change things up. For me though, the burgers and grilled chicken dishes are the way to go. What I do like about Islands is that if you ask for your burger medium, they actually bring it to you medium! Want it more on the rare side, they actually get it right! It’s amazing how often that these simple requests seem to go unheard, especially when it shapes the dynamic of the flavor of the burger. As far as options go. The Pipeline, Mavericks and Hawaiian are my personal favorites, each having their own little unique personality. Oh, and don’t turn your nose up to the turkey burger, it’s unusually good. Try it at least once. It’s full of flavor and it’s «better» for you!
Sides are darn good. I am a personal fan of their fresh cut fries and onion rings. I also recommend getting the fries well done. The added crunch with the seasoning really pair well with whatever sandwich you’ve chosen to shove into your face.
However, it wouldn’t be fair to serve the good without a little of the not so good. The drinks from the bar are «meh» at best. I understand that there’s a Hawaiian theme going on here, but a lot of the drinks are a little over-​sweet, and don’t really taste alcoholic at all. Also, I think there’s something going on with their air conditioning. The past few times I’ve come, I’ve had to wipe the sweat off my arms several times because of the ventilation problem going on in there. If it’s a ploy to get you to drink more, it’s pretty annoying.

I came here for lunch as I was in the neighborhood. I ordered the nachos as an appetizer. They where really good! It had the works guacamole, sour cream, and jalapeños. I really recommend the nachos here !
As for lunch I got the chicken tacos it came with a side of beans. It was really tasty! I would definitely come back and try a burger next time !
