IT’S SOLOUD!!! Friday night… if you want to go eat eat with some friends /family and have a nice conversation then go somewhere else. It is deafening. I would compare it to a concert. On Friday nights it seems to turn into a drunken cowboy fest. People were able to dance, which I guess is nice. More of a bar than a restaurant. Don’t waste your time.

Ate on a Wednesday night – pizza and waitress was good – but they had some hick playing live country — had to scream at each other to have a conversation – the noise was deafening– hope I don’t have permanent hearing loss!

Came here for lunch with all my employees all of us first timers. All of us ordered burgers and cleared our plates. I had the all-American burger with fries and it was delicious! The fries were crispy and adding ketchup was the perfect touch. Great vibes with good country music in the background. I will be coming back again.

Enjoyed a nice lunch on a Saturday afternoon Red Raider game day. Place was packed with lots of fans. Despite the restaurant being very busy we had good friendly, attentive service. The manager came by several times to see if everything was good. Several in our group ordered potato skins which they said were very good. Side salads were generous portion and were fresh with what tasted like homemade croutons. I had the tilapia grilled tacos which were generous sized on nice white corn tortillas served with slaw, a little corn & black bean salsa(which I wished I’d got more of) and a dollop guacamole. I opted for fries as side. They were ok Another in our group ordered an alacarte grilled chicken breast which was cooked perfect and was heart shaped. Fun sports bar environment Would return in back in the area

Food arrived at same time as appetizer. Chicken fried steak was over breaded so much that it was doughy on the inside. Mashed potatoes were cold and tastes like they had been on a steam table all day. Homemade gravy and thin cut fries weren’t bad, but definitely not worth over $ 50 for CFS, plain hamburger, 1 appetizer and waters! Didn’t even apologize for the appetizer! Do yourself a favor and go across the street to Gators.

My first visit here and I was not so impressed. The service was great but the food was not up to par. We ordered an appetizer of cheese and hot sauce and split a philly sandwich. The cheese was cool but had a good flavor. The philly had about 7 pieces of chewy undercooked meat cut thick. Other plates being served there looked good. Upon receiving our bill I noticed their tipping guide had 18, 22, and 25 percent which I thought was very aggressive for a restaurant in shopping center.

I was really excited when Back 40 Grill opened. I couldn’t wait to go try it. I went with a friend for drinks and dinner. After waiting at the crowded bar for a seat, they seated us near the entertainment for the night, Bo Garza. Now don’t get me wrong… Bo Garza is great and I love having live music at dinner. However, it was so loud I could barely hear myself think. And I’m not an old lady… I’m 25 years old. My intentions for that evening where to catch up with an old friend but unfortunately we could barely do any catching up because we couldn’t hold a conversation due to the noise level. The food portions that evening were generous but the taste was mediocre. However I saw some other options on the menu I was excited to try so I decided to go back with my husband a few months later. When we went it was quiet and not very crowded and we were quickly seated in a comfortable booth which was a nice change. I ordered the chicken fried chicken and I have no idea what he ordered. it took a while for our food to come out and when it did I noticed that mine was not chicken but it was in fact chicken fried steak. The waiter was apologetic and took my plate back to fix it. When my chicken fried chicken came out 5 or 10 minutes later I began eating and it was all right. However I quickly noticed that there was some kind of plastic wrapper hidden in my gravy. It looked like the wrapper that comes off of the Kraft singles cheese. I did entertain letting the server know about the issue for a little while until I realize that our server would not be coming back to us for a while because all the servers were busy chatting with someone who had walked in the restaurant and I assume works or worked there in the past. If I waited for the server to come to us my husband would be done before my food arrived properly. I could have approached the server but neither my husband or myself felt comfortable interrupting their group pow wow with another complaint. At this point I was over it and just decided to eat to eat my mashed potatoes with jalapeño gravy. I tasted absolutely no hint of jalapeño in the gravy or the toast which both claimed to be of the jalapeño variety. Disappointing. After two poor experiences I will not be coming back to back 40 grill.

This place is really disappointing. Food is overpriced, extremely bland, and overall poorly done. Décor was pretty confusing and didn’t work. Service was also pretty terrible. No reason to go here a second time.

Food was so so and prices were a little high for the quality. Seems more like a bar and less of a restaurant. Menu was limited. Food was bland. Manager was nice.

Mediocre drinks at best. Atmosphere was confusing with the ‘steakhouse’ décor and 20+ TVs. Seems like the owner couldn’t decide whether to go for the nicer, Americana restaurant or full on sports bar. Highly doubtful I’ll be back.

Food was just so so. Atmosphere lacking. Hopefully it was just a bad night. However, I probably won’t be back.

Stopped in for lunch. I had a wrap and my husband had a burger. His burger was ok and my wrap was incredibly bland. We did order the bacon wrapped peppers as an appetizer which were good but still not the best. For the price of everything combined with the less than mediocre flavor, we do not plan to go again. Also our server was very preoccupied with her friend at the bar vs. offering good service and waiting on her customers.

Chicken fry was large and tasty. Batter could have been a little more crisp. My waitress was great!

Good was alright. But the louse level was about three decibels louder than I could take. They had the Cowboys game on SUPERBLAST. We couldn’t even talk with each other

I’ve been to the back 40 a few times now. The food is always good, and the service just rocks. Scott, the manager, always takes good care of his customers. The chicken fried steak is as good as ive ever had, and the jalapeño gravy is awesome. The bar has a ton of great house cocktails and great beer specials.

Great Meal again! Had chicken fried chicken breast, jalapeño cream gravy toast, mashed potatoes and a salad! The Jalapeño Gravy is The Bomb!

My fellow diner and I shared the chicken fried steak, which was among the best I have tried in many years. We tried both the regular gravy and the jalapeño gravy. Initially, the jalapeño gravy seemed a bit too spicy, but after several samplings, we preferred it. Be careful, though; when the check arrived, we found out that we were charged extra for asking for a portion of both types of gravy on the side. Although it was only a dollar extra, it would have been nice to know that in advance. We chose two sides among a few choices to go with this entrée. We went with the mashed potatoes and steamed vegetables and both were very good and complimented the entrée nicely. Our service was fine. We were overcharged initially for a beverage, but our server corrected this error and was appropriately apologetic when we brought it to her attention. We came here for dinner and were seated in what seemed to be the half of the establishment that was more«bar-like,» which seemed somewhat odd since the other half that seemed more restaurant-like had plenty of open tables. The atmosphere was par for a sports bat in terms of noise-level(loud but not overwhelming) and ambience(lots of TV monitors displaying ESPN).

I came with my husband who just loves burgers. He had the Hick-burger which was made with Angus meat.(I had to take a bite) it tasted like it came off the grill from your backyard. Perfected with all the toppings he loves to eat. I had the country club sandwich. I absolutely loved it. Great atmosphere. TV’s everywhere. Service was great. Definitely coming back.
