I would be lying if I said that I had high expectations regarding the food at Rockfish. I mean, fish in Lubbock Texas doesn’t sound very appealing. But, man was I wrong. I was completely blown away! I ordered the hush puppies, Red Fish St. Charles, and finished off with the bread pudding. Every dish was delicious. Our waiter was attentive and the manager did little table touches here and there. I will definitely be returning to Rockfish very soon!

I struggled between 2 or 3 stars but eventually the two star rating won out because of the drinks. So let’s get this review started… I ordered two fish & chips(one with coleslaw as a side, the other with mashed potatoes) and two iced teas. The batter on the fish wasn’t crisp, but rather a doughy batter which fell off the fish in wet clumps. The tartar sauce was good and I did enjoy the french fries. The coleslaw had virtually no taste… It was like eating raw chopped cabbage. The mashed potatoes were bland and needed salt & pepper just to bring them up to edible. Over all they weren’t worth the $ 10.99 per plate. I would have rated them 3 stars at this point but when I got the bill I noticed that the iced teas were $ 2.69 each. That’s right… I spent over 5 bucks for two teas. Come on Rockfish… I cry fowl! What a rip off!!! It’s this type of price gouging that ultimately lead to the two star rating.

I had the oyster and fried fish plate with fries and coleslaw the fish was good but the oysters where cold in the center. But I know why there was no one there At lunch because when I take just over when you sit down you can’t go there for lunch. But the wait service was good I never was low on my soda.

Had lunch here last week, went after the rush. Service was slow, portions were small, expensive for what I got. This place has really gone down hill. Don’t bother and go to Shrimp Galley instead.

Favorite place in Lubbock. Cedar plank salmon delights the palette. Volcano shrimp appetizer with jalapeño fritters are crazy good! Order the sampler and enjoy with warm spinach dip. Truly the best Key Lime pie I’ve ever had. I’ve looked. My husband said the fish tacos were incredible. High praise. Very pleasant wait staff. Mashed potatoes were amazing!

I visited rockfish with my husband while we were on a Whole30(30 days without gluten/grains, dairy, sugar, alcohol, legumes, and other questionable things). We each got grilled fish and a double side of steamed asparagus and had to nix the rice. That was our only options in order to avoid butter. The only sauce without butter was pico de gallo. I didn’t really expect lots of options and I was so impressed with the attentiveness of the waiter and cooks to accommodate our needs. The waiter was so kind and helpful and communicated back and forth for us with kitchen who were very helpful as well. The mahi mahi was better than the salmon but I think that’s just a personal preference. They were both good. Nothing amazing but nothing to complain about. I would visit again. I saw lots of things that looked yummy that id like to try when we are done with our Whole30! Like the mashed sweet potatoes and all the different sauces for the fish!

The service is always excellent. Very tasty food. We like to start with the spinach dip and chips. All of the food Ive tried is excellently seasoned but the blackened tilapia is especially good. I also recommend the bread pudding with bourbon sauce.

Worst restaurant/food experience EVER! Less than average food. Seems like a lot of frozen ingredients are being used. mass-produced sauces and try-hard flavour profiles like bourbon & pecan mashed sweet potato? Should’ve been called cinnamon-mashed sweet potato. tasted like pumpkin pie filling. why mess with a sweet vegetable people?! Our Server said he’d only worked there 3 days but still, he should probably know the menu well enough to answer basic questions about beer. The rest of the servers & cooks just all seemed spaced out. Where’s the manager?!! The place was a mess! We had to ask for old food to be swept up from under our feet and there was trash everywhere. If that’s how they ‘maintain’ the front of house, we were all seriously concerned about the state of the kitchen! I mean, are these trippers even following proper food handling protocols? Health inspection loooong overdue people! The dish area was practically spilling out over the floor, melted ice, lemon wedges, shrimp tails and trash. Disgusting! The manager on duty tonight should be ashamed of himself.

Asian salad with Seared Ahi Tuna was fantastic! For the price, this was also a very large portion. I thoroughly enjoyed the dish. The tuna was fresh with slivers of ginger. My husband ordered shrimp Po Boy. Considering no ocean in site, everything was fresh and good quality. Our appetizer was Mexican Shrimp Martini. This use to be served in a large martini type bowl offered with a swig of tequila. This was the only disappointment. As it was great tasting, it’s half the serving. My suggestion for an appetizer is the Seared Ahi Tuna with wonton chips. Yum!

The food and service were pretty decent. I had the salmon and brussel sprouts, which came with a side of aoili, and I got a side of shrimp. I made the mistake of getting my salmon medium rare. He told me since they had«sushi grade» fish, I could have it my way. Turns out, the fish tastes a bit slimey when it’s not done to at least medium. That though is just a matter of personal preference. At the end I got the blueberry crème brûlée. It lacked flavour, but I still got my burnt sugar fix. The whole thing was about $ 40.00 for myself. The atmosphere wasn’t so nice. It was 5 in the evening in the summer, so the place was lit up very bright with the afternoon sun, so all of surfaces looked a bit sticky, and in need of a dusting and a wipe down(kind of like an old fishing boat). The view is a freeway onramp/offramp, and an old empty looking strip mall. The whole place looks rather dated, and the décor isn’t very flattering inside with sternwheels, fish taxedermy on the walls, and pictures of the owners friends, kids, and family going fishing. Literally right next to your face, there’s a picture of someones teenage kid on a fishing trip, and not their best picture by the way. Like I bet when whover the kid in the picture is comes into the restaurant, they’re like, «Daaad why this picture, whyy!!!» Draw the shades, and click on some nice lighting. That would make it look 10 times nicer. In the meantime, I recommend going here after dark.

First impressions r sometimes the Only impression a person or place gets! I had there sushi«tower». It was maybe 3inches tall!!! And the fish DIDNOT look fresh! The taste wasnt bad or anything, its just easy to tell when fish isnt fresh! They didn’t ask if I wanted spiceysauce they just put it every where! The menu says they serve With wonton chips, yea 8 of them! I wasn’t happy at all! I’ve had sushi from all over the US and they do Not do sushi well! Market street sushi from the deli is better than this place.

My best friend and I wanted to try this restaurant the other day but we were very skeptical because we have both traveled a lot and have eaten some amazing seafood across the US. For appetizers we had their ahi tuna nachos. You have the choice of getting them on either cucumbers or on crispy wonton chips. We got them on cucumbers and they were delicious. My best friend had the Alaskan fish and chips and I had the rockfish platter with fried oysters and blackened catfish. We both enjoyed our dishes and were actually pretty impressed. I can’t wait to eat there again.

So disappointed! I have had some good meals here, but not tonight. It is a Tuesday night– but when a restaurant has more staff than customers(there were only 4 tables), you’d expect a party of 3 to get their food in less than 50 min! Other than that, our salad never came, our server disappeared for over half an hour then when we were finally served, my asian trio had«fried rice» that was inedible– literally margarine, frozen vegetables, and shrimp. No salt, seasoning or soy sauce! The other two items had to be accompanied by tartar sauce to be appetizing… and then I got charged for the missing vegetables that were supposed to be on my plate! Maybe it was an off night, but I won’t be going back to find out.

Crab cakes appetizer were superb! Very moist. I really enjoyed the rockin’ green beans as well. Ordered to go. Food was ready when I got there but still waited over 10 mins to get my food and pay. Apparently the person who took my order, Tabitha, was out back and I had to wait for her to return. And once I made it to my hotel I noticed the remoulade sauce wasn’t there. Other than the slow to go pickup and not having the sauce for my crab cakes, overall visit was good.
