I love their food in general. I love their sandwiches, however, today makes the 3rd time in less than a month that I have ordered food for carry out, explained to the person taking the order that i am allergic to pickles and it being put on the sandwich anyway. The managers are always very apologetic and give us a coupon in the mail for our next visit and promise they will tell their kitchen staff about it to be more aware. Yet this is the 3rd time. I don’t know what they are telling the kitchen staff but how to read a ticket obviously is too difficult. I really don’t know why it is so hard to not put a pickle on it, they get all the other food orders correct I don’t understand why this is such a problem. It’s pretty disappointing to get home and have to decide on a different thing for dinner every time I order food from them. Good food but don’t go there if you have any food allergies.

Maybe I’m crazy… but I can never find anything that I want to continually order at McAllister’s. I’m the kind of person who finds what I love and orders it over and over and over again every time I go back to that restaurant. I have lived in Lubbock and been trying to find something at McAllister’s for seven years now. It seems like everyone in Lubbock wants to go to McAllister’s and I’m the only one who ever objects. I have tried soups, salads, sandwiches, potatoes. Nothing has been outstanding to me. It’s not that I think any of it is necessarily bad… I just don’t love any of it. To me… I could make a baked potato a soup and salad or sandwich that’s just as good at my own house for way cheaper. I know I may be the odd man out here… but I just don’t see what’s so awesome about it. I will say that the cookies are pretty awesome. Three stars because it’s not terrible but I don’t love it.

Where to begin. We moved our daughter to Tech this past week. Went to this deli to eat. This was Sunday 8 – 16. The floors were filthy with food on them, the tables not cleaned. Being that this place was being run with teenagers, I was surprised that no adult manager was out on the floor. Restroom was filthy. Overall the place was not clean.

We have been to McAllister’s Deli in several cities across the nation. They are pretty consistent all over. Good food, good service & clean stores. This one is no exception. My favorite is The New Yorker. Corned beef, pastrami, piled high, Swiss and spicy brown mustard on toasted rye. They don’t skimp on this sandwich. Its great. We will continue coming here.

Good sandwich, good service. I would definitely recommend this place. It can get busy at times though.

We got food to go after church on a Sunday. The place was packed, and from what I hear, it always is. They have a great selection of sandwiches and loaded baked potatoes. The bread is great and the ingredients seemed fresh. The best sandwich of my group was the New Yorker. I do have to say that the other group I was with had a big order and upon arriving home discovered many errors and missing items — but mine was all good!

It’s an ok place. They are extremely busy so if you are looking to get in and out during lunch hours then you may want to think twice. The staff is really nice. The food is ok. It’s not as clean as it could be. They need someone in the dining area watching for tables to cpean so that there are available tables.

We eat at this McAlister’s often. I love the healthier«fast food» choices & .99 kids meals. Today I ordered takeout using the order form on my mobile phone. I like that you can add & take away exactly what you want. That said, my husband got all the way home with his food when we realized they didn’t give either of us our sides of potatoe salad. He was frustrated because we were already eating lunch late & he had to drive back. He hoped they’d at least offer us some extra. Instead, the manager gave him a full refund on our complete meal, & gave us some cookies too! I haven’t had good customer service like that at a food place in a LONG time. It was a really nice surprise. We will continue to eat at this McAlisters as always.

This place has gone WAY down in the past few months. Our evening started out well enough. I had a Cranberry Turkey griller(seasonal item) and it was… okay. The apples had a weird taste, like someone had got them out of a plastic baggie(i.e. not fresh). My mac n’ cheese also looked«soupy.» That is all I have to say about that. What really SEALED the deal of the entire evening was the«roast beef» sandwich that was served to the person I was with and later how the manager responded. In reality is was more like grisly cow carcass skin. Yuck. Both of us lost our appetite soon after discovering it. After making remarks aloud(within earshot of some employees) we were suddenly unable to receive any service at our table. Anyone who goes to McAlister’s knows this is really bizarre, as they are constantly checking up on your. Finally, after 10+ minutes, a kind young waitress stops and asks us how we are doing. We ask her for to please get a manager. What soon commences is actually one of the worst parts. The manager comes to our table and begins a proper sales speech(I should know, I was in sales) about the sandwich and doesn’t allow my friend to speak at all. Then as my friend starts to show him the«beef» the manager smirks and kind of chuckles. I wouldn’t have served that to my worst enemy! – And yet it was somehow funny. He then asked if my friend would like another sandwich. No way! We ask for his card and a refund of that sandwich. After more interrupting and sales/manipulating techniques he scurried away, forgetting to even ask for our ticket number. Finally after a few more minutes he returns, hands us our refund and his card, and then begins a pretty hard apology routine. A simple, «Yes, absolutely. That’s unacceptable. I am sorry, I understand if you never come by. I’ll get you a refund right away,» would have sufficed. But he was constantly trying to smarmy-manipulate us. Finally, having enough we told him that was the end of it and«good-bye.» So there you go, there’s my «beef» with this McAlister’s.

Charged everyone $ 1.49 for canned cokes and bottled water(no refills) when the power was out – not cool. Rudy’s charged $ 1.00 and let you grab a second. Chicken sandwich was mediocre, my son’s turkey sandwich was better.

I love croissants and their toasted ham croissant sandwich is great(when it’s not burnt). Yes it’s horrible for you. And yes it may mean you need to go to the gym for 2 hours to work it off but it’s worth it. Their tea is to die for. I used to go just pick up a tea, almost everyday, at the one on 19th. The 82nd location is a bit larger, a bit better maintained, and just better service overall.

I went here twice for lunch while back in Lubbock. Apparently it’s a chain, but I had never heard of it before. The Good: The food is fantastic. I ordered a sandwich/salad combo and it was cheap. Their sweet tea worth the hype. The Bad: Their service is a bit odd. It seems like everything runs a bit slower there. They have a funky system of giving you a number, letting you sit wherever you want in a huge divided dining room, and then bringing the food to you. I saw waiters and waitresses ambling around trying to find numbers. I swear the girl with our food passed by us multiple times before she stopped and asked if she, in fact, had our order. Overall: They’d get 4 stars because of the backwards way they serve. It’d all be much easier if they simply called your number and you picked it up.

The bottom line is the food at McAlister’s is pretty good. I could go to McAlister’s just to drink there ice tea and eat there sugar cookies. I don’t know what they do to make these, but it about the best things ever made! This store is laid out a little weird with a spread out counter that lets people who walk in well behind you walk to the front of(one of the) lines. It seems like there are more tables at this location then they have on 19th street but the layout is completely different so who knows. Everything I have here is good go I think you’ll do pretty well picking out something. I am a huge suck er for sourdough bread so I usually get the ham and cheese on sourdough with chicken tortilla soup. Another favorite is the baked potatoes because of all the different meats that you can order with them. Again, whatever you order as a meal make sure you get a sugar cookie and ice tea! Usually they run out of(good) cookies at lunch so if you go in for dinner you’ll probably miss out.
