This hotel is not meeting ADA requirements, as it is a 2 story building and there is no elevator. My husband walks with a cane and we had to haul our luggage up a narrow set of stairs. Of course, there were no rooms on the 1st floor available. We also asked about an upgrade to a room with a jetted tub, as my husband was having leg and back pain that day. We were told that they couldn’t do it because we didn’t reserve the room directly with them. Room was your average hotel room– nothing great, clean enough, made to look like they were trying to make it nice but furniture, linens, etc. are cheap, you know the typical mid-range hotel. Oh, also the pool was closed. And the hotel is long and narrow. There is only one entrance in the front and one in the back. Luckily, our room was right in front, but anyone in the middle would have a hike up a set of stairs and then a walk down a long hall.

So I stayed here for 10 days during a work trip… Manhattan is Americas butthole… I digress… I check in and was greeted by a lovely young woman who made my check in a breeze… I asked to be on the second floor(I just feel safer on higher floors) and she did without a problem… I then asked her to point me to the elevator… My bag was pretty heavy and I didn’t want to lift it myself… She then I informed me that there was no elevator… … This very petite woman then lifted my 60lb suit case up the steps… I made note not to pick a fight with her during checkout… She was super sweet… Got up to the room… It was clean… But there wasn’t really a comforter… Just a blanket and two sheets… It was kinda hard for me to get comfy in the bed as well… But it’s the best western so what do I expect… My bed broke half way through the trip… I called the front desk and told them and They to me they’d get to it tomorrow because it was pretty late… I kinda fixed it myself… Not sure if they ever really fixed it… They never changed my sheets… The house keeping women were pretty ghetto and loud… So I didn’t make a big deal being that I was by myself in the middle of nowhere… They’re breakfast wasn’t bad… Bacon or sausage during the week days… Biscuits and gravy during the weekends… And fresh made scrambled eggs and make ur own waffle station… Really sweet old old lady makes them… All in all it gets a solid 3 star…

Our stay at Best Western at 601 East Poyntz Ave Manhattan, KS66502 has been one of the worst experiences we have had when staying in a hotel. When we first checked in at 4:30pm September 19, 2013, the air conditioner in the room had a knocking noise so loud, I knew we would not be able to handle a 4 night stay with such a racket. I went to the guy at the front desk to let him know it wouldn’t work for us and his reply was«oh, is it still too loud?» He transferred us to a room on the 2nd floor but had to warn us that the hotel does not have an elevator and the bellman’s cart was broken… we had to haul our luggage up stairs with no assistance. My wife called the front desk requesting a 7:30am wakeup call as she had an appointment with the cemetery officials to finalize her dad’s burial the next day. It was a good thing that we woke up early as our 7:30am wakeup call did not materialize until 8:30am. But the disappointments did not stop here. When we came back to the hotel the 2nd night after a full day of errands, we track up the stairs only to find that neither of our card keys for the room worked… both were invalid. I went back down to the front desk to get new keys. But there is more. The next morning the wifi was unavailable in the hotel. I called the front desk at 8:30am and at 8:40am letting the phone ring 5 minutes each time and no one picked up at the front desk. I’m glad the only issue was wifi being unavailable… the front desk not being available is wrong on so many levels. But our lousy experience was not done. On our final night in this hotel, we walk up the stairs to our room only to find that both our room keys invalid yet again. I walk back down stairs and tell the front desk guy(the same one that check us in, the same one that took the 7:30 am wakeup call request, the same one that had to give us new keys the first time) that this has been one of the worst stays we have experienced at a hotel. I received the cursory«I’m sorry» and he proceeded to make new keys. I then said«I guess I will have to call corporate» to which he smugly replied«would you like the number.» I told him«no, I’m resourceful.» We can’t get out of this disaster fast enough. Should you need a hotel in Manhattan, KS I strongly suggest you look elsewhere!

This hotel is in a great location and extremely well priced for what you get! The staff is extremely nice(let us check in early; and the next morning when we were a little late getting to breakfast, the lady offered to make some items fresh for us instead of letting us eat what was left), the room was clean and all the amenities were great! We had one queen bed in our room(and it was acutally comfortable!), a large mini fridge, a microwave, and the nicest bath/shower I have ever seen in a hotel room!
