Hadn’t been here in years, decided to give it a try recently. Food and service were solid. The restaurant however is not memorable… Could be in a Chilis, Applebee’s, or any similar chain. If you look there are coupons that can be found, which make for a good value.

Walked in around 7PM for a table for 2. Was told 10 – 15 minutes. Waiting patiently. Watched two other tables for two check in at the hostess stand. Watch both be seated before us. Left and went somewhere else. On the way out we noticed half of the restaurant was empty. Won’t waste my time with this 99 ever again

We are always excited when we find out that Peter is going to be our bartender… he is outstanding… going at 100 miles an hour to serve his customers but always appears cool, calm and collected… My meal was not right — over-cooked steak. and he helped send it back and«mothered» the replacement through to perfection… 99 is lucky to have such a gem… a fabulous bartender in a chain restaurant… hard to find! The only reason we come… thank you Peter! Oh. and I love the«fit for you» items on the menu. my favorite is the steak with mushrooms and blue-cheese crumbles…

Good place and nice food. i dint booze and hence could not rate their pub. all the waiters or waitresses are very polite and strike some good conversation. i tried their chicken parmigiana which is very tasty. if you are a boozer then you would love their bar

The 99 is a good go-to that never disappoints. It’s a good value and just honest American food that can please the pickiest of eaters.

I like Ninety Nine overall — in most locations. I like the fresh popcorn, the usually good service, hamburgers, salads, drinks. I think they don’t do sandwiches very well, but again, it’s a chain thing. They are so much better than Applebees overall. So this location is fine. Fresh popcorn, good service. But I wanted to try the lobster roll– silly? Probably. I opted for the colossal lobster roll with a bit of mayo and celery on buttered grilled hot dog bun with fries and coleslaw. $ 15.99.(The other option was the hot lobster roll just sauteed in butter on a grilled hot dog bun — $ 17.49) The roll was large, longer than the lobster in it. The roll was buttered too heavily and tasted like the grill– a bit burnt. It had some lettuce and then the lobster. Just claws and knuckles — standard lobster roll around NE. Rarely see tail meat in these guys anymore except in a small local restaurant. There were 2 big claws and some small chunks of meat. I had to cut it up to make it fit the sandwich. It wasn’t big but not super small either. The issue? NOFLAVOR in the lobster. Fries were cool and tasted like the oil needed to be changed — bad oily aftertaste. Coleslaw warm — not cold. So, lesson learned. DONOTTRYTHELOBSTERATANYNINETYNINE. Stick with what they ARE good at. Fresh popcorn, burgers and usually fries.

I come to the Marlboro 99 many times and have been disappointed for the last time. I try to come on Tuesday when they have the Jammin Crab soup, but the last 7 times I have come on a Tuesday they were out of the soup by 5pm. WTF, if you have a demand for something why not have it so you can sell it. The rest of the food is deep fried blah. Steak tips have gone down hill and are usually over cooked along with the burgers. The lobster rolls are only claw meat and no tail meat. I would pass on the lobster rolls. They aren’t that good. This place would be great if they fixed the food. The service is ok and the beer is cold. Goodbye 99.

The 99 in Marlborough(and Hudson, for that matter) has never really let me down. They always come through with their food quality, efficiency, and overall customer satisfaction. Their wide menu options allows you to change up what you get each time you come, or stick with your old«stand by» if you can’t decide(For me, it’s the Honey BBQ Chicken Wrap w/Gold Fever Sauce). The fast, friendly and consistent service at this location keep me coming back for more — I’m sure those compliments listed are included in their«99 Reasons»

Standard 99. The kids ate free because the Red Sox won. They also have big, relatively cheap, really cold beers. We had good service. The food was good and all staff we interacted with were friendly. Good experience for sure.

Very good restaurant! The servers were very nice. The only thing that was not good was the turkey burger, it was over cooked and dry and the servers were slow but the beer was enjoyable

Terrible. Went in and ordered buffalo tenders. When they came out we cut into one and it was raw/pink inside. Second order came out and was dry as a bone/over cooked. It was taken off the bill but still very disturbing and makes me want to never return to 99. Burger came out asked for medium well and it was burnt to a crisp. Not a word from the manager or apology. Praying we don’t get sick. This place needs to have a health inspector come and shut it down. People can get very sick from places like this. Stay far away.

Came for dinner after a long drive. A sign on the door said lobster rolls came with free chowder, so that’s what I got… But no chowder was offered with my meal. I didn’t even ask because our server seemed a bit hard of hearing(not her fault, but still, awkward…); when we ordered drinks I had asked what the local beer options were(first time at this location), and she asked«What?» twice and then started listing the soft drinks(so I just asked for water…). The lobster roll itself wasn’t fantastic. Bread was a bit soggy from the water in which lobster had been heated. Rubbery and not much flavor. My husband had some chowder with his meal, and that was pretty tasty. I had garlic mashed potatoes instead if fries, and that was probably the best part of the meal. I don’t live close to this restaurant and see no reason to return when I come visit this area again.

It is part of a chain and it isn’t very exceptional. The food is ok, nothing great but nothing terrible either. The service is nice, polite and quick(+1) but on the other hand their martinis tasted weak and watered down(–1).

I have finally come to terms with the fact that I HATE the 99… I mean its convenient that they have Grilled Cheese so my kid will eat, but other than that — the food has gone down hil… I mean No More Cheese with the crackers. WHAT?! and they werent even wheat thins anymore… and then the food was just mediocre, I got a Med-Rare Steak and it was RAW inside… I was just soo aggravated by this point I just ate around it & left… I just probably wont be back anytime soon & need to cross the 99 off my lists!!! Even when the kids eat free, I would rather PAY to eat better food.

I came here for drinks with some colleagues recently. This 99 or «the nines» as locals call it. This location is conveniently located on Rte. 20 just off of 495, so it is great for work meetings at lunch or after work drinks. The bar area is quite large and was easy to move around. The restaurant was also kept very clean, something I notice as a former server. The bar staff was very friendly and although the bar does not have an extensive single malt scotch list or a reserve wine list, they had all of the basics. I did not eat, so I cannot comment on the food, but the bar area is a pretty reliable spot if you are looking for a no-nonsense watering hole.

For a chain restaurant, the service is really fast at lunch time. Food is always fresh and hot. Good selection. No problems.

The service is never an issue here, but the food quality is the issue. When the food is cooked it is actually quite good. However, on 3 separate visits we received a meat or chicken portion that was horribly undercooked. Once was a raw kids cheeseburger. This is in or neighborhood so it is a shame that we won’t be going back.

It was rather late, and not a lot of food options were available. Our friends suggested the 99. My first thought was the 99 cent store in California, but in Boston suburbs, it is a chain restaurant. I found it very similar to chilis, in décor, feel, and menu options. I had the New England fried shrimp, which were nice and crunchy, not greasy, and had a nice flavor. The french fries were nice and crisp too. It was a very casual place. The restrooms were nice and very clean. Overall, it was a 3 star; solid food options, variety of drink selections, good feel, but the service pushed it up a star. We had a great time, and I can’t knock a solid chain restaurant.
