Pleasantly surprised since my last visit. The Botana plate was fresh, tender and tasty.

We ordered a botana for 4 to go for 53.99 $ it was extremely small and looked like it was a plate for 2. We spoke to the hostess and she agreed it was small but did not help. We called the manager when we got home and he did not help either. This was not a plate that serves 4. We will not dine here again.

I was disappointed to see the poor reviews since we enjoy the one in Harlingen. So I hadn’t come to this one until now, but when I did was quite happy with it. The building is nice, what I could see into the kitchen was very clean. The menu is simple and straightforward and the prices are very good. I find most Mexican restaurants in the area overpriced, but Los Asados has very good prices. Also my food was good quality and tasty. I thought that the service was attentive and quick. There is happy hour all day during some week days. I will happily eat here again. Generally I’m very happy when I can eat this quality of a meal for under $ 10.

We accompanied some friends here to help them celebrate their anniversary. We all shared a fajita botana. All of us enjoyed it very much. It was a generous serving for 4. The wait staff was attentive, at least on that evening. The salsa, both red and green, was tasty. It was not a fancy place, but we enjoyed it. There seemed to be plenty of space to accommodate larger groups, if one needed a place for a family or business dinner.

We went on a Friday night expecting a wait line, but as soon as we walked in, we were seated. The server was very generous and polite. We ordered the«queso flameado» and«sombrero» and off cours«beers». Well the food and drinks came out quick alonog with the service. A waiter by the name of «MARCO» who was being trained by «CLAUDIA» were the best. We will return for sure. If you guys go, make sure to ask for MARCO or CLAUDIA …

Very good Mexican food but not the fanciest restaurant if that’s what you’re looking for. I recommend adding wall art. Service was very good as well and the prices were good. I liked the enchiladas and the chips and salsa. The charro beans were average. The tortillas were gigantic. Overall a nice experience.

Visited for the first time. Food was ok. Service was efficiient because the staff seem to help each other out. I ordered a cup of soup but the brought me a bowl. I dont like to waste food and only wanted a little bit of soup. It was brought together with the food. Had to decide between the bowl of soup and letting my main late get cold or eating my main dish while it was warm. Left the soup to waste. Oversll a good dining experience. Would recommend it and will return.

I went there with a big-ish group on a Monday night. I ordered the Combination Toreada it was average tasting at best and for the amount of food they served I felt it was a bit over priced. The one thing I enjoyed were the flour tortillas. The wait time was decent about 20 – 25 Minutes for a group of 8. Overall the experience was MEH. It’s a good attempt at «authentic Mexican» but it falls short. Like other reviewers have mentioned there are definitely better places that you can try in Mcallen.

This is a very nice place to go for a dinner for two or also a large group. The dining area is very clean and with very good lighting. The servers are very courteous and prompt in taking your order and serving the meal. I had a Steak a la Mexicana and my wife a chicken Milanese. We also had a small guacamole. All the plates were very well served. I will go back soon!

Despite the negative comments about this restaurant, I actually find that Los Asados is a really good eatery. My grandfather was the first one to tell me about this place after he dined here with his co-workers. He loved it so much he brought my grandmother for dinner here. She enjoyed the food too, and even brought delivery to her sister and brother-in-law(who raved about it)! I have now dined at this restaurant several times and have nothing really bad to say about this place other than the price. The first time I ate here, I ordered an enchilada plate and a cup of Caldo de Res. First off, I think I got half a cooked flank stake to cut up into my soup. They serve HUGEPORTIONS! My enchiladas were perfectly seasoned and the stewed beans were so yummy. I’ve eaten off the Parillada my family has ordered(think a botana but with a wider variety of meats). A half a chicken comes served on the Parillada along with four sausage links, a whole rack of ribs, and perfectly cooked fajitas. I can speak for my whole family when I say the food is copious and VERY tasty. Try the Mango Margaritas! They have a «Valley» spin with a Chamoy-lined rim and a Chamoy candy stick to give it a bit of kick. Sweet & spicy = the perfect drink. As I mentioned before, my only complaint is the cost. The Parillada is pricey, but four people can easily eat off the two-person serving. Other than that, everything is pretty reasonably priced. The mixed drinks do add up, but they have a special before 7 pm that makes their cocktails affordable.

Had the steak a la Mexicana, was not very pleased. The meat was really tough. The flour tortillas are really good and the waiter was great, ’bout the only two good things from there. Don’t think I would be back.

The food at Los Asados was average with a real bland taste. The service was average as well while attending on a weeknight. However, the salsa was good, but extremely hot! Tried the Caldo De Res and my wife tried the fajitas, chicken and sausage plate which also tasted bland.

I think agree with previous reviews in saying that the food(main reason why you go to a restaurant) is not that good… the chips are just ok, my steak ranchero was dry and overdone… my wife said her plate was ok though… Service was good, they were attentive; would I come back? Maybe to try it again, but not that soon.

Really good food!!! I’ve been to the one in Harlingen and now this one. I love to get there fajitas and sausage plate. They are known for there grilled meats instead of there other items. Overall great food though!

Finally a place that serves fresh made tortillas with your order. Food is fresh and good portions. Beautiful place for the family to have dinner.

Don’t go here. There are so many Mexican places to eat here in McAllen, so I HIGHLY recommend choosing a different restaurant. Food was not good. Some family member states it was okay. Not good for children. No children menu, no juice. And waitress didn’t even say they served milk, she asked that she go check… And they did. Ordered lemonade but my three year old spit it out and wouldn’t drink it. I tried it, and it was only sugar and water… Service was not even 1 star… Just plainly said… Go somewhere else.

Really good service but the food is nowhere near quality. Where do I begin, oh wait I know how about can salsas and store bought chips/tostadas. I ordered the carne asada and it came sizzling hot which was a good sign however it was as tough and very bland. The bake potato was cold, the rice was hard and the ranchero bean were, well just bean, if it wasn’t for the service is give it no stars. The water was the best tasting thing in my order. I can honestly say that I won’t be coming back.

I’m being generous with 2 stars. The service is very good. No complaints there. The food is poor to average. There is nothing special here. Chips are from a bag. I don’t even buy those for my house. The corn tortillas are from a bag. The enchilada sauce tasted canned. The food isn’t bad per se, it’s just super generic and nothing special. I probably won’t be returning.
