This was probably my favorite bar on the Metry bar crawl. The décor reminded me of my aunt & uncle’s rec room… all padded leather and wood paneling with big(heavy) captain’s chairs. Unfortunately it was really smokey(maybe some scrubbers?) The bartender seemed to be distracted so it was difficult to get a refill. The DJ(Saturday night only?) was playing an eclectic selection of music… which didn’t really go with the environment. I would have preferred some old school rat pack maybe. Price point was pretty good. And I’m not sure what was going on with that meat roasting out front…

C Beever’s is a bar with an interesting name. It is also an interesting bar. Hmm. I guess the key word for this review will be interesting. The Name I have no idea how this bar got its name, nor do I care. What I do know is that it conjured up images in my mind of hunting those dam building furry creatures that screw up rivers. I hate those things. The bar The bar is shaped like a square and is raised above the rest of the floor. It is surrounded by bar stools like any good bar, but unlike most bars, is also engraved with brass plaques. I tried to convince a Unilocaler to buy one to advertise his business, but as this was early in the night, he wasn’t drunk enough. The staff The bartenders were OK, but the DJ/cook was pretty awesome. I don’t know if he owns the joint, but he was very welcoming to our group. When I passed his DJ area we had a great convo about the merits of dancing and bounce music. As for his cook title he earned that as the pit master for the pig they were roasting outside the bar. My one regret is that I didn’t get some of that pig. The regulars The bar seems to be a place with a lot of regulars. The crowd ranged from young to older, but everyone seemed to be a regular. They also all seemed to be smokers. I understand this is a smoking bar, but that is also one reason I might not be back. I love people from Metry, but the smoke is too much for me.

C Beever’s Bar of Music… what to say… what to say. This bar definitely has a local crowd. The bartenders are kind of hit and miss, depending on who they are flirting with at the time. They have recently had a redesign(so I’m told). The wood paneling is an interesting choice, as is the odd urologist sign. They had a DJ on Saturday night and either he or the crowd may want to think about talking out their anger towards women issues(a lot of songs about slapping women played in a short period of time). Overall, it was a bar. It was well-lit and seemingly clean but smokey. I guess if you’re hanging out around the Super 8 in Metry they’re worse places you could go, but I think you maybe better over at Colby’s or Pair of Dice.

This place looks familiar… like from some TV show or something. Hmm. Anyway, decently priced drinks, interesting variety of music, also pool & darts, but as others have mentioned, oh so smokey. It was nice to go outside and get some fresh air after this bar on our Metry bar crawl.

This is a dive bar trapped in the 70’s from whence it was formed and hasn’t changed since. That is actually pretty groovy as anything past the 90’s sucks and is tainted with hipsters anyway. They had great prices on their drinks and a nifty selection of brass name plates on the bar that have rather entertaining names on them. They had a section for pool and darts and this place seems to be quite popular with the smokers. I’m not a fan of smokers but this bar seemed less smokey than some of the others in the area. I’ve also heard legends and rumors of a steak night on Thursdays with the infamous touring Metry lingerie ladies in attendance. I actually know a guy that married one of those ladies.

This was the second bar I went to for the Metarie Bar Crawl. Me and my fellow Unilocalers came hear in unison to check out the digs. The customer service was rather so-so. I guess since I wasn’t a regular I don’t think the lady bartender deemed me that worthy of her time. But this is normally what you would expect from a dive bar in this area. The prices at this particular bar were normal. I paid about $ 2.50 for a longneck. I really don’t know how much mixed drinks are given the fact that I didn’t try any. The décor was rather dated. There was a stuffed and mounted deer head on the wall. Also a stuffed and mounted deer rump hanging from the wall too. The bar was very smokey also, something that might tough to contend with if you are a non-smoker like me. I guess the fact that they had pool tables and dart boards helped us all cope with the negatives out there. I thought it was really cool when I saw them preparing a whole hog on their BBQ smoker. It was a real shame that I was already gone by the time it was done. In short this bar is okay for cheap drinks, and witnessing them barbecue a whole hog. But not okay if you want to listen to decent music or enjoy a smoke free evening.

This was the second bar on the Metry bar crawl. Very dated and VERY smokey with a couple of pool tables and a separate area with dart boards, tables and chairs. There was a DJ playing dated country and rock songs, but the people here seemed to like it. I kind of felt like I was in someone’s basement with all of the beer sign décor that was around. A couple of cons: bartenders are super slow and kind of clueless. They talk to people on one side of their bar while people on the other side are waiting to be served. John L H ordered a beer from the bartender who heard him and proceeded to mix a drink for someone else. I finally had to flag him down and order his beer myself. I was doing«mocktails» and they didn’t have ginger ale for my cranberry drink, so I settled for Sprite. Meh. At least it was free. Since Steve said the owners are new, I chalk all of this up to «growing pains».

Locals call C Beever’s the Beeve. It has been around for almost 40 yrs but just changed owners last month. They have a really cool bar staff. Sara and Erin are sweethearts. Rob, the manager, is cool as hell too. He even DJ’s at the bar on occasion. The bar is unique in that there is a deer head hanging from the wall, some trophies along the walls, and brass plaques all around the bar counter for their regular bar patrons. The best nights to go to the Beeve: — Sunday(Johnny Rock playing music from the 50s &60s) — Thursday(Guys ngt — steaks, bucket of beer special, and a little lagniappe) — Friday(dart leagues) I like this bar a lot because it is very laid-back. The owners sit at the bar and chill for hours with the bartenders and customers. The owner even bought me a few beers the first time I went. This is just a nice old bar with quite a few regulars. Expect good times, cheap drinks, a relaxed atmosphere, and cool bartenders when you go to C Beever’s!
