Love their Sangria here. We came back twice in one weekend just because they had really good Sangria and the manager was really nice and sweet to us. We fell upon this place by Bar hoping around the Espanola Way and wanted to waste time before we headed to a club down the street. We saw Ceviche and wanted to eat here, but we had already placed a table down the street. My friend and I who were drinkers decided to just grab a couple drinks while we waited and fell in love with their Sangria. Wish we came back to have their Ceviche, maybe next time when I come back to Miami,

I tried Cevichery last Wednesday. We were standing around trying to make a decision whether to try it or go to Boteco(Brazilian) and some patrons who were eating at Cevichery said the food was amazing, so we decided to try it. I was floored with the yumminess of the ceviche, I nearly licked the plate dry. We also had red Sangria which was delectable, as well as a dinner plate(mixed seafood with rice and potatoes). I used to think the ceviche at El Chalan was amazing but after trying Cevichery, I have a new all time favorite. And unlike Ceviche 105 downtown, it’s not as pricey while maintaining the freshness and quality of the seafood. You’ve got a new loyal customer! Thanks for a delicious meal :)

Here’s what I have in my drunken draft notes: «Making us pay for apology shots? 1 star!» But that seems a little harsh. Cevichery is one of numerous little restaurants lining both sides of the cozy couple-block pedestrian stretch known as Espanola Way. The outdoor seating has the benefit of live music emanating from the restaurant across the street, bountiful people-watching, fabulous Miami weather, and an evening lit by strings of lights draped all along the lane. Plus, they were offering a buy 1, get 1 free(per person) drink special on sangria all night long on a Saturday. The sangria was obviously pre-mixed and drinkable rather than enjoyable, but still — I’ll take it! The ceviche wouldn’t be worth mentioning if it wasn’t the name of the restaurant. It was fresh and tasty, but nothing groundbreaking. There’s a number of options, which vary in which seafood is included and how spicy it is. Instead of the ceviche, the all-star of the meal was an entrée — a juicy slab of beef in a «reduccion de seco,» a cilantro, beer, and slightly spicy aji amarillo reduction. It was fantastically flavorful and out of the norm, the meat was cooked properly, and I was glad we’d bypassed the waiter’s recommendation of the standard lomo saltado(I’m sure the lomo’s good, but you can get that anywhere). Now about those apology shots. It took approximately forevvvver for our food to come out. I mean, it was a really long time — maybe 45 minutes? As an apology, our waiter brought us generous shots of pisco sours. He also brought all the tables around us the same, so something must have really gone wrong in the kitchen. After finally receiving our food and working on it for a while, our waiter came back out and said, «You’re gonna kill me — I forgot the rice!» and delivered the missing side to us. The dish was heavily sauced, so it made a difference. I joked, «No worries! A couple more of those shots and all’s forgiven!» I was kidding, but he was like, «No problem! You want them? You got it!» He brought us a couple more, and we thanked him in surprise. When we got the bill, we realized we’d been charged for these. Only a few bucks, but still, lame on principle. There was a good deal of mediocrity here, including in the service, which redeemed itself with the first set of free shots and then dropped the ball again by not making it clear that they were charging for the second set. However, I would totally eat here again, for the atmosphere and that delicious beef thing.

I went here with a friend courtesy of Gilt City. I would give this place 2 ½ stars… Cevichery serves up some decent food at a bit lower than standard South Beach prices but with the usual level of South Beach service. We started out with ceviche«shooters» which were very good. I was impressed by the freshness of the Ceviche and if I were to return here I would stick to the ceviche and a cocktail or two. Our appetizer was scallops Parmesan. Great presentation, but not at all pleasant to eat. The parmesan was just this hardened shell on top of a small over-buttered scallop served on its shell, the scallops looked so pretty on the platter but that was about it. For our main courses we had the Lomo Slatado and the Pescado a lo Macho. The lomo Saltado was not very good. Maybe it was authentic and I did not appreciate it? It was basically sliced fillet drenched in soy sauce and tasted like one of my failed attempts to make stir fry. Not good. The Pascado a lo Macho, however, was decent. The menu says it is spicy but I did not taste it. The desert was unmemorable. Some sort of crêpe thing that was not impressive. The service at Cevichery was spotty. Perhaps it was because we were ordering off something other than the regular menu, but the waiter seemed to blow us off. Little things like not bringing out the same fried corn/salsa tray that was put on every other table to accompany the ceviche or them not bringing me rice with my meal. I just did not have a pleasant dining experience. I will say that the prices here are not that bad. I will not go back but this place is not on my «avoid at all costs» list either. The ceviche is good, so this could be a decent place for a tourist to try ceviche for the first time if they are unable to get off the beach for diner.

Randomly walked into Cevichery with my mother, who never tried ceviche before. We tried the regular ceviche with fish, which was delicious and very fresh. The waitress was a sweetheart and even had us sample a glass of their house white before we ordered 2 glasses. Unfortunately, we didn’t have time to order more but I would definitely come back and sample some yummy entrees.

I found this place on Gilt City. Thought it looked great. We walked down Espanola Way and happily sat down. There were no more tables outside so we were forced to sit inside. No one greeted us for about 15 minutes, until we finally flagged someone down, who of course was not our waiter. The service through out the meal was ehh at best. We watched other people who were arriving much after us get their food first. The drinks were ok, I wasn’t loving them. The ceviche shots that they gave us were fair. I’ve had much better. The dishes that we got were much better than anything else we had there. I ordered a skirt steak dish that was delicious, came with frites that were seasoned really nice. My boyfriend ordered the Peruvian rice seafood dish that he loved as well. However, the entire time we were eating there was an old mexican band playing the loudest music. It was horrible. We couldn’t even hear each other. We were basically either signing across the table or not talking at all because it became so much effort. With the Gilt City coupon it was ok pricing, but normally we thought this place would be way over priced. Whatever you do, sit outside. And parking isn’t easy, your options are street or $ 10 parking lots.

Cevichery offers surprisingly solid service, quality and prices as compared to many other SoBe restaurants but it is just that. Solid– nothing sexy and nothing that really makes you want to come back soon. Came here on a busy Saturday night with a Gilt City dinner-for-two voucher. When I made the reservation, we were told we had to sit inside. Sort of irritating when they add their own little stipulations not included in the fine print. Our waitress was excellent, the food came out fast and the water refills kept on coming. We started with Pisco Sour cocktails, Strawberry and Blueberry. The cocktails were good but couldn’t really taste the fruit flavor in either, the sour flavor was overwhelming. Next, ceviche shots. I ordered the non-spicy one to be on the safe side. I like to taste my food rather than having my mouth on fire and numbed for the rest of the night. Turned out to be a wise choice because my friend thought her ceviche was rather hot. Other than that it was very good, traditional Peruvian style with white corn and sort of milky. For an appetizer, we shared the sliced octopus. It was a large appetizer and rather filling. The octopus was cold and covered in a very creamy pink sauce, which appeared to be some kind mayo — beets mixture. I really couldn’t place it, it was very strange but good. My friend ordered the catch of the day– fried fish filet with mango salsa served with a side of white rice. Very large portion and nicely battered fish but topping it with the salsa made that wonderful crisp batter soggy, amateur mistake. I chose the Peruvian fried rice with calamari and shrimp. It was delicious, with generous amounts of seafood, reminded me of Paella. Desserts are not their strong suit. Let’s start with the better one– arros con leche. Ours was served hot because the chef had just made a fresh batch. It was sweet, creamy and delicious but then again a five year old can boil rice and milk. The cheesecake is no bueno. It has a jello-like texture that is too firm and a strange flavor of some special Peruvian fruit but if that fruit tastes like soap maybe they shouldn’t make a cake out of it. Skip this one, trust me. All in all solid but there are better choices on Espanola Way.

The most this restaurant has going for it is location. The festivities along Espanola Way almost make a visit worth it. Almost. Ceviche was average, three of the four bottles of wine on the menu were unavailable, and our server was pushy and present when we had barely had time to sit, then nowhere to be found when we wanted our check.

I think that I need to come back and try some of the other plates from this restaurant… but I don’t live in Miami, and it looks like if I was to come back there are a lot of other restaurants that I would rather try than this one again. I came here only to try the ceviche as my fiancé and I love it, however I was really disappointed by the selection. This is their namesake right? They only have about five different ceviches and they are either made of shrimp or ‘fish’. The menu doesn’t even say what type of fish they use. When I asked what type it was the waitress told me it was made of swai fish. This fish is considered the catfish of vietnam… so then how is fresh enough to be in miami and used for ceviche!!! I want my fish to be fresh out of the ocean, not the from the bottom of a river.

Walked down Espanola Way and found this small Peruvian restaurant. I had the chicken plate which was served with a side of white rice and my girl had the Fish plate. The service was great and food was delicious. Prices for dishes were reasonable. The house Sangria is great and they usually have drink specials!!!

I won’t lie, the classic ceviche was probably the best ceviche I had while in Miami Beach, and yes, even better than the infamous Fire & Ice ceviche at Ola. I like my ceviche with the tangy citrus flavors infused into the fish/shrimp. The fish and shrimp chunks should taste like it has been marinating in citrus juices for enough time, and that’s exactly how it tasted. Fresh fish with limited citrus flavors makes it sashimi not ceviche! But, if I’m in Miami Beach again, I probably wouldn’t dine here again. The service was slow and awkward. Our waitress was friendly, but there was something rehearsed and disingenuous about her. For example, we asked her for recommendations on what to eat and she suggested a bunch of things. All of her recommendations were mediocre, forgettable chicken dishes. The only noteworthy thing was the classic ceviche. Other than that, don’t bother coming here.

One of the smaller eateries on Espanola, but one that shouldn’t be overlooked. I stumbled upon this place on a food tour and the food they decided to serve us as their sampler consisted of a croqueta. How are you going to serve up a croqueta when you pride yourself in being a cevichery? Minus one star. However, I decided to come back anyways to see just how legit their ceviche was. And legit it was. The fish was fresh and not overly cooked in lime juice, which some places make the mistake of doing. It can easily be overcooked just as you would on a stove. The texture was spot on and the ceviche was not too tart, with the milk cutting down the acidity. Topped with some fried calamari and you got yourself a bowl of ceviche heaven. I also tried their lomo saltado, which was also delicious. A little saltier than I would like, but Peruvian food generally tends to be on the salty side. I must say that the french fries were some of the best I ever had. My friend and I agreed that it was because it tasted a lot like fancy McDonalds fries. Service was great and happy hour usually consists of sangria and 2×1 beers. Indoor and outdoor seating is available. Be sure to try a pisco sour while you’re there!

I’m not really a fan of Latin food… so vacationing in Miami was a bit of a culinary«meh» for me. I was pretty excited to find this place though because ceviche is always my go-to«safe» food when I have to eat Latin. A whole restaurant built around ceviche? Yay! But I wasn’t really impressed. We were seated immediately which was weird, since most other restaurants along Espanola Way were pretty busy and we expected to wait a bit for a table. The whole restaurant was pretty empty actually. We ordered some sangria which was really good — I’d say the second best we had during our trip so that was good. They do have a very large selection of ceviches but there are other dishes as well, including appetizers and entrees. There was a scallop ceviche listed on the menu that I was sooo looking forward to trying… but when I tried to order, the server said they were out of it. Shit. So I went with the basic ceviche instead. I also ordered their mussel appetizer. The mussels were very good and fresh, but they were COVERED in red onions. Holy shit, gross. They were easy to shovel off though. The ceviche itself was pretty good too, I have to say. But overall, nothing about the place really stood out to me in a I’ve-gotta-come-back kind of way. Also, our server was kinda spacey and really difficult to understand. So yeah — not a bad place, but not an outstanding one either.

im very excited that there is a new peruvian restaurant in south beach. cevichery reminded me a bit of ceviche 105 because the deco is kinda similar and so is the menu. i went with a couple of friends, we were all hungry so being that i was the most peruvian of all, i ordered ‘conchas a la parmesana’. these are broiled scallops(on the shell) with cheese, a simple and delicious appetizer you should definitely try. we ended up getting another order of those and a few more things. papa rellena, ceviche de pescado, aji de gallina and chupe. the ceviche and aji de gallina were good but the chupe was a bit too light for what im used to. chupe is a fish stock/milk based soup that comes with lot of ingredients, like angel hair pasta or rice, green peas and much more. the chupe here was missing a few of those key ingredients and that is why i cannot give four stars to this restaurant just yet. aside from that, service was not that good either. our waitress was sorta roaming around and getting her attention was a bit of a task. yes it was the chefs birthday and they were celebrating but hello? i need a beer, thanks. and then, by the time we get the check, we get charged for gratuity twice. i immediately let her know and she gave me new check and apologized but still, thats a foul. thank god i like to read and stuff… ill probably be back but hope service is more attentive then.

I’ve been here three times in the past month and haven’t had a bad dish yet. The tiraditos, lomo and fideos Huancaina are my favorites and the fresh pisco drinks are a must. It’s a great little place with serious potential. My husband’s Peruvian family agrees.

We spotted this place on our way back to our hotel and could not decide if we were hungry or not but decided to stop by and grab a quick bite, boy was that the best thing we did all day! The food and the service were amazing. This was our first time eating Peruvian food and we will definitely go back next time we are in town. All the food was cooked to perfection and the spices were great. Definitely worth stopping by and grabbing some food.

The Peruvian Food Guru must be guiding the Chef at La Cevichery because this is the 2nd delicious meal in a row that I have had at this restaurant and everything and I really mean everything is a homerun in this new modern and cozy Peruvian spot in the heart of Sobe! I have had the chance to experience Peruvian’s finest cuisine and this new spot in Sobe absolutely brings back my fondest memories from Lima’s greatest restaurants! I love how it feels homey, making you feel welcome… and how can you not? The host saw us on our way in and opened the door for us and gave us a big smile! We were taken to a table along the wall near the bar. Our waiter was extremely helpful, friendly and attentive. With the music of Nova Lima in the background, it set the perfect tone for a great Sunday afternoon on South Beach. What we had: Tiradito Dos Sabores Ceviche De Pescado y Pota Crocante — Crispy fried sepia and aji limo ceviche Tiradito De Rocoto — Fish cooked in lemon with a Peruvian spicy rocoto pepper and onion mermelade Los Calientes Novo Andino — Chicken breast tenders breaded in Quinoa and served with mixed greens and sweet plantains Lomo Saltado — Filet mignon mixed in with onions, tomatoes, aji amarillo, pepper, cilantro, soy sauce, Pisco and ginger Fideos a la Huancaina — $ Pasta with a Peruvian Spicy Aji Amarillo sauce Special de Pescado Tausi: Chilean Seabass in a Peruvian/Chineese sweet and sour sauce Semifredo de Lucuma y Brownie Refined and modern Peruvian food… Absolutely loved it and I will be back soon!
