Great weekend breakfast spot and never crowded. I recommend the Dos Huevos with Chili Verde. Nice staff and good service by the waitress.

This place is very close to my home and I can easily use their drive through for a quick meal. I have had the chile verde and guisada and the spice level was great. However both times I remember the meals being over salty. I heard they have good margs so I might need return one more time and try that. Salsa is good and fresh– mild spice.

Worst«mexican food» I’ve ever eaten. It tasted like somebody’s last night leftovers they just warmed up in the microwave for us. I’ll start with the restaurant itself– it was dirty. I just wanted to walk out because I was already grossed out, but I stayed due to the fact that my family and I traveled a long ways, were hungry, and had other engagements shortly after. The restaurant also lacked waiters, there seemed to be 1 serving the whole restaurant, 2 including the girl that had been eating at the table near me who I thought to be a customer until she got up during her meal to refill our drinks and take away a plate. Wow. Unprofessional business of the year award right here. Next comment I’ll make is when we placed our order with the waitress, she didn’t write anything down! I hate when people do that, because what’s the big deal? Just write it down to ensure your customer’s order! However, I thought, hopefully she’ll get it right, LOL, but nope, she didn’t. I asked for bean and cheese burritos smothered in red sauce,(because I hate meat in my burritos) and she brought me back 2 burritos stuffed with ground beef, thats it. I didn’t even bother to tell her of her mistake and request a new one because after tasting my food and everyone else’s food at my table, I would rather not eat. My ground beef in my burritos were sooooo salty!!! It was not edible, and the flavor of the meat tasted like that McCormick taco seasoning mix and other ingredients! The red sauce tasted of a combination of canned red sauce, mole and wolf chili. My family’s beans on their plate were so salty as well, they were not edible either unless you wanted to develop cuts on your tongue from the salt! The rice tasted like they made it last night and warmed it up in the morning. The green sauce tasted like canned sauce, the corn tortillas had a unfavorable lard flavor and the chicken was dry and flavorless. The asado had a gross pig flavor, and the tortillas they gave were the ones that tasted straight from Walmart down the bread aisle. Oh and my friend was served some soup, I think it was? It was in a little 3 oz cup, and eeesh, it was awful. The staff was friendly. :)

I enjoyed this place on my first stint in Midland. This time around I’m done. The waitress was horrible. It took her 15 minutes to do anything. She ignored is for chunks of time even though the restaurant was pretty empty for lunch time. The brisket tacos were dry and flavorless. Retried beans and rice were standard. There are WAY better Mexican joints in Midland. Skip this one.

This is a far cry from quality food. My refried beans were as dry as paste. The chicken in my tacos tasted as if the chicken were made/purchased from some fast food restaurant. The rice had no flavor. The salad served on the side was not fresh and was not even half the serving size. Their horchata(cinnamon-vanilla rice water) was saturated with sugar. To make matters worse, the environment is drab and morose. The music was downright annoying. Try classical«rancheras/mariachi» and skip the corridos. What sucks more about this place is that for the price I paid I had crap to eat. Oh, and the service rendered was a little bit below average. Someone finally waited on me after ten minutes. Avoid this place by all means.

Worst Mexican food I’ve ever tasted anywhere, bar none! You can get better frozen dinners Mexican food than this, seriously!

Excellent service and food. So far, this place had the best customer service of the few restaurants I visited in Midland. Drinks were refilled right away, and the food arrived super fast. Waiter(guy named Casey) was very nice and even gave a cup of horchata to try. I had the $ 9.99 tacos which were very tasty. All the other staff were very nice and welcoming too. It’s a clean restaurant too, and they also have a bar area with TVs. I would come back here in a heartbeat.

Tortilla soup was bland. Green Chile chicken enchiladas were good, but the meat tasted like it came out of the microwave. Good thing they cover it with lots of cheese and a good sauce. This was more of a place the locals come in for a drink and some food. The waitstaff spent more time socializing with friends than catering to service requests.

Excellent service, never had to ask for a refill. The food was yummy, I had the cheese enchiladas with two chicken tacos. Everything was seasoned well and tasted great. I highly recommend this restaurant.

We came here after reading all the reviews but our food was kinda plain and flavorless, it was prepared fresh and looked delicious but it didn’t make our taste buds dance like other restaurants do.

Working in Midland for a couple of days, I checked Unilocal for something close. Casa Lopez had a couple of good reviews so I gave it a chance. The service was excellent with a highly attentive waitress and hostess. I never had a chance to ask for a refill on drinks or chips. The food was very good having gotten Trio Fajitas. Very hot and flavorful dish with plenty of onions the way I like it. This will be a place I would return on my next trip to Midland.

First time here. We were part of a private and rather large party(60+) people but they did really well considering the big Fiesta going on. Other dishes served around me looked like average tex-mex, but the Gilbert’s special I had was outstanding. It was smoky grilled brisket with grilled onions, peppers and a side of beans and delicious cubed potatoes which also had a nice smoky flaver. The tortillas were fresh & great. My lovely wife and I shared and there was plenty to share. My better half reported the frozen margaritas were some of the best she has tried– and she is an expert. I wish we had discovered this place when we lived in Midland. We get here often and we will definitely make su casa mi casa!

Being from California and having spent the last year living in Saratoga Springs, NY, which is seriously devoid of authentic Mexican food, I couldn’t wait to get back to a border state for some tacos. On our move accross our great nation, Texas was the place we planned to for some authentic Tex-Mex, which I heard was different than California Mexican. It is a litte different, but just as good. Driving through Midland, I noticed several chain-looking Mexican restaurants which nearly dashed my hopes of eating an authentic Mexican meal. This place came reccommended by the clerk at the hotel we stayed at. She said this was a great non-chain place owned by a local family. She said the magic words. I had the brisket tacos a la carte and the tortilla soup. Both were delicious and had suprising complexity. The chips and salsa were also delicious and made me realize how close I was to being back in California. Hubby had a burritto dish– not sure what it was called, but it came with a cheese sauce and salsa on the side to pour on top. It came with two small burrittos and beans and rice. He ate every bite. I had a bite and deemed it delicious. The service was friendly and prompt. The margarita was a bit too sweet for my taste, but hey, I was eating Mexican food, so I didn’t care! Otherwise, this is a great spot. Eat here if you have the chance.
