This used to be my favorite Mexican food restaurant in Midland but the quality of food and service has been going downhill. When we saw the owners there the food and service was always great. The last 3 – 4 times we have been there we haven’t seen the owners. Ate there last night. I got my usual #1 dinner. The quality of the food was not very good. Our waitress brought us drinks when we first sat down but never came back. At one point I got up to go get my own refill. I made eye contact with several waitresses as I was walking to the bar to get my refill. There wasn’t anyone at the bar so I was wondering what would happen when I walked behind the bar to get my refill of Coke. Finally our waitress asked if I needed a refill and she went to go get it. They weren’t that busy in the restaurant but apparently they had a large group in the party room. I guess they pull all the staff and send them in there. I gave them a 3 rating because the food was ok. I thought about giving them a 2 because of the poor service but thought better of it.

The wait staff is awful! We prefer the Dos Compadres in Odessa, by far.

This is a classic Midland spot, I remember going here growing up. I ordered the supreme nachos bc it’s my go to when I’m not sure what I want to eat. You can hardly ever mess these up, they proved this correct here. My mom got the chile rellenos which is her favorite and what she gets everytime she goes to a Mexican joint. If you’re looking for classic tex mex that won’t leave you feeling too awful after, this spot is good. Usually I love it while I eat it and hate myself afterwards(most places use lard or pork in their beans which kills me) this spot is pretty clean. The salsa is tasty and fresh but I could stand it w bit hotter. If you’re in a hurry, this place is good eats, inexpensive and quick. The service is prompt and attentive as well.

Super quick service. Food was very good. Queso was good. It wasn’t the best I’ve ever had, but it was certainly far from the worst. We arrived around 5:30 on a Saturday night, and we were seated immediately. Restaurant got busier after we arrived. Will become a regular on our list of restaurants to eat at.

100% the real deal, not fancy, very casual, lots of locals, very friendly staff, and excellent food. Moderately priced.

I grew up coming here and it has always been amazing. Since I live out of town, I don’t get good Mexican food ansnymore because nothing compares to this place. I have to come here each time I visit my parents. I don’t understand the negative reviews. I’m assuming those people consider places like On The Boarder and Abuelos to be good Mexican food. While those places are good, theyre chains and you can tell. If you want good authentic Tex-Mex then come here. I have never had something gross here. We know the people who own it and the queso is not made from a can. My boyfriend, who grew up eating home cooked Mexican food(which his mom learned in actual Mexico) even liked this place. The portabella mushroom fajitas are the best. If you want somehing more tex mex, go for the cheese enchaladas.

Food was not great; service was terrible. We came for lunch on a Saturday. A child took our drink order(maybe 10 yrs old). Our drinks were wrong, obviously. Finally an adult came to our table and she was rude, even though I didn’t even ask for the drink I actually ordered or mention the child. Terrible first impression, I will never go back. Also the rude waitress stood next to my husband and watched him sign the credit card slip so she could take it from him. It was actually pretty creepy.

Wonderful food and good pricing. The sweet tea, fajitas, and hamburgers are the best! Ask for Zoila and she’ll make you feel like your eating at home with your family! They also have great seafood. Their fried catfish has a lite breading that tastes great! They have a small banquet room that can be used for private parties or meetings. They have free wifi.

I read the reviews on Unilocal when searching for a new place to eat. Decided to try it out tonight. You can’t go wrong at Dos Compadres. Everything was excellent, including the service. The chips and salsa were the best I’ve had since moving to west Texas. My husband and I tried different plates and we found nothing to complain about. You have to try their sopapillas!

I’m not sure why this place has such low reviews. My friend has been insisting that we try this place since arriving in Midland and since today was our last day in town we finally made our way over. It was great. It was pretty crowded when we got there at lunch time but our party of four was promptly seated and given chips and salsa. The salsa was really good and spicy. I ordered the chicken flautas meal which came with two flautas, rice, beans, guacamole. It also had some boiled peppers and tomatoes that were delicious. My friend insisted we try sopapilas. They’re like fried tortillas with sugar and cinnamon on top and they give you butter and honey to put on top of them. They’re only $ 1.50 each and they were delicious. I mean seriously goooood. Our waitress was very friendly and polite and we never had to ask for drink refills because they were on point. They had sweet tea too and it was just how I like it. I’m a fan. Nothing bad to say about the place. It’s not high-class but it was a good hometown Mexican food place which is just how I like them.

Good food at lunchtime. Calm environment even with a baby crying half the time. Would surely go back to try it again sometime.

We ate at Dos Compadres last week on our way through Midland. Although the service was great the food was only so-so. We ordered the queso, shimp cocktail #1 and #11. For starters they brought us chips and salsa that was so delicious. That was the only thing we really enjoyed though. The queso was aweful! It tasted as though it was poured straight from a can of food service cheese. My carne gusada was good but nothing to rave about. My boyfriend had a combination platter and it was greasy and lacked flavor. When I think of Texas mexican food I think of good portions and great taste. This place had neither. Aditionally it was way over priced no entre was under $ 10 and the portiond were small. This place is not worth the stop.

Stay away. Ate here on ¼. Saw server sneeze in food prep area — did not cover her mouth — I am amazed I do not have food poisoning yet from eating here. Service was very slow. The queso does look like it glow’s in the dark.

Great neighborhood Mexican restaurant. Might have the best Salsa in town. Enchiladas are good, Chicken fajita salad is very solid. The queso is actually very tasty.

Cheap and decent, but certainly not memorable. The queso looks like it could glow in the dark!
