Ate at this place yesterday food was great, however they did mess up my order but quickly resolved the issue. I will definitely go back.

The food is great the service is great and wherever the waitresses buy their jeans at they all look amazing.

Great food, fresh ingredients, hot and fast to the table, but the best part of Don Pepe is the outstanding customer service.

Love the food very reasonable prices and the staff are very friendly. Kid friendly and nice kid meal selections.

My favorite Mexican restaurant. Reasonably priced, friendly staff and great food. Love the cheese dip.
For the person who said they use fake cheese, not so, as my husband is allergic to the «fake» cheese stuff and he has no issues with their cheese.
Love dollar Monday’s as well, just wish I got home earlier from work on Mondays to get there every week

If you want good TEXMEX* (not mexican) food, come here. It’s good and the drinks are big and heavy with tequila and the menu has everything on it. I love coming here. It’s a good guilty pleasure texmex experience with a nice wait staff.

Without a doubt, this is my go-​to place for comfort Mexican food. The warm chips and white sauce are wonderful, it has just a little heat and not to thick or thin for dipping. The service — always quick, helpful and with a smile. Plus a little floor show if you see them carry out a big order from the kitchen, last night one guy had 6 plates lined up on one arm plus one in the other hand, oh my! The menu has had some updates over the years but right now my favorite is the enchaladas rancheras, 2 cheese enchas topped with plenty of shredded pork, grilled onions and peppers. We almost always get a Chile Relleno or taquitos on the side, the taquitos are bigger than you would expect, shredded meat inside.
Recently the restaurant expanded next door to have another section, previously they also re-​did the entryway, the flow is so much better now and they really needed the waiting room and extra section, it’s that good!

Who doesn’t enjoy some delicious Mexican food? We have been in search of the best the Richmond area has to offer and had heard wonderful things. We have attempted to dine here on several occasions, but never seem to make it at the right time. Beware, you may have to wait to be seated, since it is a rather small establishment. We got lucky, finally. There was a large variety to choose from on the menu. Our group of six each tried something different; nobody was disappointed. Prices were reasonable and the service was good. Search for coupons to save a few bucks, such a ValPak mailers. Plan on returning in the future.

Just moved out to SouthSide recently and was looking for a great new Mexican restaurant. Don Pepe is super close to my house and decided to give it a try. It has turned out to be my go to place at least once a week, the food is great as well as their prices and the service is always great. Chips and salsa are always hot fresh and on point, and they have fantastic frozen margaritas on special most of the time I go. I have tried a good number of items off of the menu and it seems to me that their burritos and quesadillas are always super tasty, but the chorri pollo is really super good. Highly recommend Don Pepe

Loved this place !!! The chicken wings are amazing and the shrimp chimichangas are on point

By far the best Mexican in the area. The food is consistently very good and the service is always friendly and timely. I come here to eat about once a week for a reason as no other Mexican comes close. The salsa is homemade and the chips are always warm when you get them. Highly recommend.

This Restaurant is one of the best around. We went there for my daughters Birthday and they never disappoint. The food is excellent and reasonably priced. We can eat there with a family of 3 for less than $ 20. However if add a Mix it will cost about $ 4 to $ 7 depending on the drink. The service is the best that I have witnessed in the Richmond Area. Highly recommended and a excellent family Restaurant.

Coming from an area where the only ethnic food option was Mexican, this place was just average for me-​in that it’s just like every other Mexican American restaurant. The big difference though was the white sauce served with the chips and salsa that everyone keeps raving about, which wasn’t an option in my hometown. I definitely enjoyed it better than the salsa (The arroz con pollo, my favorite fake Mexican dish, was also $ 9.50 here when it was only $ 5 or $ 6 in my hometown).
The meal itself was typical of that at a Mexican American restaurant: they give you a lot of iceberg lettuce that you never actually eat along with a side of rice or refried beans. I always enjoy the refried beans but never understand the excess lettuce. For the main entrée, I got the burritos fajita based on someone’s recommendation on Unilocal,but it was basically just grilled chicken stuffed inside a burrito smothered with melted cheese-​nothing special. I always regret not ordering the arroz con pollo.
Anyways the three stars is for the food, but I would give the staff 5 stars — the waitress was super nice and so was our cashier. He asked my friend and I if we were going back to work.
To which I replied, «We’re unemployed.» He then asked us if we were going shopping. To which I replied, «We’re too poor to go shopping.» It was pretty funny. Unless I find somewhere else in the area that serves cheaper arroz con pollo, I guess I would go here again if I were to crave Mexican food.

have been there a lot of times, always great service, great food, not tonight. Ordered drinks and dinner. Asked for more chips, never came, finally went up and got them my self. Ordered dinner (at 7:30) and lunch portions were served. We sent them back. They were reserved to us lukewarm. Then we had to reorder the rest of our dinner portions which arrived later. They were not busy so there was no excuse for the terrible service. No one seemed to have a clue.

Pros:
1. Cheap and yummy margaritas
2. Seriously good fish tacos (though they are –not– described well on the menu)
3. Free chips and salsa and some weird white sauce
4. Dining partner says the chili relleno was good
5. Friendly waiters
Cons:
1. Almost $ 3 for guacamole (seriously Mexican restaurants, cut this overpricing out!)
2. So-​so rice and beans
3. Waiters try to upsell you
4. Fake, processed cheese in most of their menu items (with no option to have it subbed for real cheese)
So, not really some place I’d go back to, but this area didn’t have a ton of options that looked good – so, take it for what it’s worth.

Food is great prices are even better!!! Wish they were open on Sundays but everyone needs a break lol. Service is amazing we go so much they know whAt were gonna order! They are very friendly and professional. Id recommend this place to anyone!

Really nice environment, really nice people, delicious food. One thing I don’t like is how small the bathrooms are. I love the white sauce, til this day I don’t know what it is but it’s my favorite.

I have never heard anything bad about this place. It’s definitely my favorite local Mexican place. First heard about it when I was in elementary school and have probably been coming ever since then. My recent favorite is the taquitos mexicanos.
Service is quick and very friendly, come a few times and you will be recognized!

About a month ago, I was in search of a new Mexican restaurant. One that offered great food, great service and was located close to where I live. Then I came across Don Pepe. Upon first glance, the restaurant was very easy to miss due to its «in the cut» location off Hull Street Rd. But nevertheless, I decided that I wanted to give this place a try. How did my experience go? To find out, read below:
The Good:
Service– Upon entering the restaurant, I was greeted by a host and seated immediately. A few minutes after being seated, my server approaches ready to take my order. The server was very personable and knew how to playfully interact with her customers while remaining professional. After placing my order, the food came out roughly less than 10 minutes. Food was hot and fully cooked which was a plus. Whenever I needed my drink refilled, my server refilled it without me having to ask or hunt her down.
Taste– I ordered the Fish Tacos (Tilapia I believe), which came with beans, cheese, rice, lettuce, tomatoes and a chipotle sauce. The flavors were amazing, particularly the chipotle sauce, and all of the ingredients seemed to be fresh.
Price/​Portion Size– Before coming to Don Pepe, I crowned Pescados as having the best Fish Tacos that I’ve ever had. Well I have to bump Pescados to second now. While Don Pepe does not offer the same flavors, they do offer an extra taco with more fish and toppings for half the price of a Pescados fish taco. That’s 6 Don Pepe fish tacos that cost a little less than 2 Pescados fish tacos. I’m no math wiz, but I like those odds.
The Bad:
Parking– This is somewhat of a nitpick, but Don Pepe is located in a strip mall where there are a number of other stores surrounding it. Parking near Don Pepe can be very limited, but there is an overflow parking lot about 50+ steps from the closer parking lot.
Overall– Great food, great service, great bargain, great portions. Parking can be iffy but who doesn’t need the exercise after eating a good meal? FIVE STARS.
