Really disappointed – again. Had tried the bento box salmon & portion was very small, sauce too sweet. The tempura and miso soup ok. Sushi was ok. Honestly, not in a rush to return – although I probably will, next year. I am wanting it to be what it was when it opened… sigh.

We had the lunch bento box. Good deal for the money. The general o’s chicken was good as well as the rice and California roll. The tempura however had the taste of grease. And the dumplings were not good. The service was friendly. Might try again.

The food is really excellent and the customer service was great the restaurant is a nice little place that you can take your family inside or you can take him outside in the summertime the only bad thing is the parking but overall it was a great experience for a date night

I’m not sure what’s up with all the negative reviews but I’m a fan of this restaurant. I’ve been here loads of times and I’ve tried a variety of rolls and boxes and noodles and they’ve all been fantastic. The staff is efficient; I drink upwards of 4 glasses of water every time I go to a restaurant, so I tend to judge a place on how quickly the wait staff notices that I need a refill. The lunch bento boxes are huge and reasonably priced. I recommend the pepper steak if you’re looking for a tender and nicely seasoned meat. The fried rice has spinach and little pieces of egg, which I really enjoy. There’s a certain sweetness to everything on the menu. The specialty sushi rolls are decorative and well-portioned. The only thing I’d change about this place is the front-of-house staff. Don’t wear short shorts to work.

The hotel was near this 3 Star Rated spot so I decided to gamble instead of trading up to a 4⁄5 Star. Convenience & a good recommendation about this place from my colleague and I hit the ground eating. 007 Roll was good. The tempura shrimp inside was perfect and light unlike most. The sauce they used was also very light. It’s a good roll. Now to the fish rolls which is how I roll. Black Russian roll was delicious that comes with its own half/half sauce. I didn’t ask what the sauce was sorry. The fish was fresh inside of the roll. Get this roll! Then for my third roll I went #offmenu with Spicy Salmon inside Salmon outside with a spicy wasbi mayo dot ontop of every cut. This roll melted in our mouths. So butter! Im sure that you will enjoy your experience here.

We were craving for sushi so we decided to stop here after the movies. this place has the funky hours where they close at a certain time and reopen again later on in the day. this sushi joint looks decent inside. the food was good, service was horrible! presentation was cute! very expensive even after a groupon deal.

Not sure what is going on with sushi o recently, but this was the 2nd visit that wasn’t so great! Our waitress was slow, we had to ask for our own drink refills, had to also request napkins! It was painstakingly slow! I love sushi but maybe sushi I isn’t the place for us anymore;(

Fresh sushi. Daily specials. Friendly wait staff and bar staff. Great drink specials and right in Midlothian. Who needs a chain when you can experience an original. After reading prior reviews, I can honestly say I have never had a bad meal or experience here, and have eaten here quite a bit since it opened.

Had a rough visit there recently. Server was nice, but was pretty flaky — even forgetting to put in one of our guests’ entire order. Food was good, but nothing to write home about. The prices on the rolls were a bit high for what they were. Not sure if dude-wandering-around-acting-like-he-owned-the-place was a manager or a bartender, but he was dressed for a hockey game, not a sushi restaurant. Also, two checks were divided incorrectly and server said she couldn’t change it — wrong. We’ve worked in restaurants before and know that bills can be corrected and be reprinted. The whole evening was basically amateur hour and we won’t be dining in there again any time soon — take out, maybe.

Tried to love this place. Took a year long hiatus to build up the excitement about their sushi once more. Had a few good experiences(dine in as well as dine out) and they have officially topped my DONOTPATRON list. After 2 disappointments in a row, I decided to take pictures and contact the owner about refunding my most recent specialty roll which was incredibly poorly prepared. To my dismay, not only would he REFUSE a refund but, he explained that because he could not SEE the roll and KNEW that he assembled that roll himself and was certain of its freshness, I was basically wasting my time. So, not only am I incapable of identifying old, over-ripened avocado and ill-prepped shrimp but, I am also a liar. Fortunately, this Pinnochio has proof. Picture is posted — note brown spotted freshness of my avocado and brown«something» in my shrimp. Hmmm

My four star rating is all about the happy hour specials… not the rest of the menu In the midlothian area, you can’t beat the happy hour specials that Sushi O offers. The menu items change, but Monday — Saturday at the bar you can get special priced drinks and food. My husband and I go here often for a night out the weekdays. We can go have a few drinks, sample different types of appetizers that I wouldn’t normally try and get the special priced roll all for under $ 40. I really like the dumplings and the fried pot stickers. They also usually have the 007 roll on the menu, it’s a smaller sized portion, but it’s only $ 5 and so good! They have spicy chicken wings and other offerings. Basically, something for everyone to enjoy. Now for the rest of the menu… if you are looking to have a good sit down sushi experience. I don’t know if I would recommend this place. I don’t like being charged for substitutions especially if what I am picking is less than the option on the menu. For the food quality and the experience there are other restaurants on my sushi list that I would suggest. That being said… I will continue to come back to Sushi O for a happy hour or on a Sunday when my other favorite Sushi restaurants are closed. My biggest advice to management… listen to your customers if you have a sushi meal option and the customer says, I would like this meal, but I don’t eat eel or red snapper, don’t bring me eel and and red snapper and say sorry you can’t request specific sushi items. Also if I want to substitute a veggie roll for the spicy tuna, don’t charge me an additional dollar. I am saving you money. I haven’t had the horrible service that has been described by others, but I know there are so many challenges keeping staff. Perhaps there is a correlation with the rules applied to the menu and why staff are hard to keep.

Had lunch there and ate outside, pleasant. Ordered the fish lunch box. Started with good Miso soup, which was unfortunately the highlight of the meal. Way too much oil on rest of the food and one fried batter-dipped something(sorry I don’t know the culinary term) was utterly tasteless. Very good service, just wish the food had tasted a little better. Loved the giant Buddha inside the restaurant. Nice interior.

Dine is is fine. Never do take out. After three times short of food I spoke up. I returned to get rice and salads the next day the pleasant manager gave me a gift card. We used it tonight. It was for one cent– honest, one cent! Tonight’s take out ruined the front seat of my car leaking teriyaki sauce. Will NOT be back

Having spent 10 years in food service, I know that restaurants can have a ‘bad night,’ so when it seems as such, I will come back another time. In fact, I’m a firm believer in the ‘3rd times a charm’ mentality. Indeed, I’ve been here on three different occasions, and disappointed every time for one reason or another. The prices are that of a fine-dining establishment, but unfortunately the food is that of any other average sushi joint, and the service(and volume) is that of a packed country diner with only one server. The first time I visited, I was seated and ushered drinks promptly, but it took almost 40 minutes from the time I placed my order of a single roll, to the time I received it. Given that it was the middle of dinner, and the place was relatively busy, I knew I’d have to visit again, to be fair. The second time I ventured to Sushi-O was about a month later, for a late lunch on my break. I was coming from West Broad and Libbie, which was a 30 minute drive, round-trip, leaving me 30 minutes to eat. Reasonable, right? Unfortunately, they were closed. What is up with those hours? People have diverse schedules, and as a general rule, eat around the clock. Perhaps this was my own ignorance? The last time was the final straw. With my prior experience here, i had the stopwatch going this time. I was seated after about a 10 minute wait — no big deal. I was with a friend, and we sat at the table for 45 minutes before anyone bothered to ask if we had place our orders. They said they’d get our server. 10 minutes later, our server arrived to take our drink orders, and our first drinks(sodas) were free. I feel that’s an awfully small price to pay for making a patron wait 55 minutes just for drinks — had I gone elsewhere, I’d have food in my stomach and be on my way by now, but maybe their view of service isn’t the same as mine. We wound up with an $ 80 dollar tab between 2 sushi rolls and drinks, spent 2.5 hours waiting to eat our(mediocre at best) sushi rolls, and couldn’t get our server to keep up with our drinks.

First of all the people rating this bad are fat retards who probably gorge on sushi at some chain restaurant or think Mc Donald’s is awesome. They need to eff off Anyways for the food. I always get the Gyoza(this is the only good place to get that s__t around here) the presentation of the food is amazing, and tastes just as good as it is beautiful, now as for the dolts complaining about the service GROW A PAIRANDQUITFABRICATING I’ve never had a problem with server… Then again we are on Unilocal, people are bound to be retarded snobs with an IQ of a rock who complain if the staff doesn’t come after 30 seconds. Now as for dinner i usually get the weekly special(which sucks cause if you like it you won’t be able to have it next week) it always tastes f_____g awesome, but if i don’t like the sound of the house special(it happens sometimes) i always fall back on the 007 or Dragonfly Tips: AVOIDTHEDUCKTACOSATALLCOSTS, idfk why they are still on the menu, they have an overpowering taste and just plain suck…

I’ve gone for a late night intimate dinner twice in the last two weeks and have been happy both times The drinks coming from the bar are great and the bartender is open to mixing something up on request based on your taste preference. There are a multitude of sushi options. I loved the soft shell crab tempura roll and the portion sizes were perfect for two. I wish that they would offer a different type of salad but then again you don’t go for the salad(which might be why there doesn’t seem to be a lot of thought about it). As for dinner, I chjose the lamb chop pops, both times. It’s a well seasoned dish, I replace the side with the sauteed asparagus and the two flavors go very well with the herb crusted seasoning on the lamb. The portion size is filling and also comes with rice. I enjoy the dinner and the late night environment. They don’t rush you out and it’s cool when the staff is done cooking and the fellas from the sushi bar gather in the corner to enjoy their meals while you’re lounging after being well fed. Definitely would go back.

Sushi was mediocre. Prices were too expensive. Appetizers should never cost $ 9. However, I do bump this place up one more star for one reason and one reason only: DUCKTACOS. They are labeled as duck tacos, but in reality? They are PEKINGDUCKWRAPS. Well, minus the awesome crispy skin part. But still!!! I have been craving/dreaming/having inappropriate thoughts about Peking duck for YEARS. Where does one go to order a one-person serving of Peking duck, I ask you? Nowhere, that’s where! And this place fucking makes it! Hoisin sauce, onions, duck, tortilla-like pancake and all!!! Screw the sushi, I’ll be coming back here for mountains of the duck.
